DD has been so clingy lately and is basically only happy with my nipple in her mouth! She refuses to take a paci. Do y'all let your LOs comfort nurse? I know im probably allowing bad habits.
I absolutely let her comfort nurse while I was BF. It helps build your supply and is a great bonding opportunity. Though, it does suck to just have LO attached to you all day. Nothing got done around the house on those days!
Guilty. Especially when LO got his shots. I don't believe bad habits form unless you continue to comfort nurse to settle LO. Periodically should be just fine.
I do now, but while we were trying to get LO ready to go to DC i didn't. Since he will now take a paci just fine for DC he can comfort nurse all he wants in the evenings.

I wish my son would take a pacifier but looks like he is following in his brothers footsteps and he refuses. I'm not worried about comforting nursing leading into a bad habit quite yet.

This is kind of what I'm worried about. She starts day care in a week.
I don't unless he's so worked up that nothing else will calm him down. That only happened a couple of times but he had his shots 2 days ago so we've been comfort nursing a lot for the past 48 hours

It's a no for me. I have nothing against it, and I'm all for bonding, but I just personally am really squeamish about my nipples (LOL) and the sensation of breastfeeding is hard enough for me. My LO takes a paci just fine thank goodness ">
I typically don't comfort nurse. Although at night I definitely let him eat longer than necessary and dwadle a bit so he's nice and sleepy. I'd like him to be able to calm down in other ways, such as just being held and rocked or with paci if needed as I am not always going to be there when I'm at work or if dad's on duty

Baby Will born 8/18. He's perfect.
Absolutely though she often prefers the pacifier for comfort. I have an overactive letdown, so I don't think she gets to "comfort" nurse much if she wanted to. She nurses fine and my supply is good, so I'm all for letting her do what she wants to. My first was like that too and we made it to over 18 months without ever having needed formula. I am all for feeding on demand though day and night and comfort nursing as needed. These babies know what they need better than we do at this point, so I let them do their thing.
Every night pretty much. She will be going to a caregiver at the last week of October and I figure she will start taking a paci to soothe then if im not there. She will take one from H every now and then when upset and im showering or something. So while im home ill let her do it all she wants!! Plus, since its typically at night when she does it it probably wont make a differwnce when I go back to work, she can still do it at night. Ive ended up with a great supply and the comfort nursing probably has helped this. She naps without doing it so I just assume if she gets older and it becomes habit then I can probably break if without too much trouble.
This baby will take a paci, but I try to let him comfort nurse since it is good for supply, bonding, etc. DD didn't take a paci and we comfort nursed until 15 months when we started to ween. No bad habits were formed and I didn't let it get out of control but if she needed me I let her nurse. I loved every minute of it and think it established such a great sense of connection and safety for her.
