To everyone looking to induce early

edited September 2015 in October 2015 Moms
Please don't. I keep reading all these posts about castor oil and other inducing methods because we are all so uncomfortable, but these methods may not produce the desired outcome.

I did not induce but my baby came at 35 weeks anyway. She is going on day 11 in the NICU and will probably be there another week. Words cannot describe how terrible it is to leave her in an incubator every night instead of taking her home.

This post is not meant to be dramatic nor a "be lucky you're still pregnant" rant. I just want you all to know that this uncomfortable state will be over soon enough that we don't have to do anything drastic. I was in a lot of pain the last two weeks due to baby sitting directly on my pelvis. I would rather deal with that again than seeing her struggling to breathe and eat outside the womb, which is what I currently doing.

  • Sending you hugs and strong vibes for baby! Thank you for giving us all some perspective..
  • I'm being induced for medical reasons by a doctor. Not natural ways. That would make me too nervous to take it upon myself not knowing how the stuff I use will effect me and baby. But tomorrow my journey begins. I'm excited and scared at the same time.

Good luck, mama - that's so exciting!!!!

Good luck! Prayers for a safe and healthy delivery!
  • I told my doctor I do not want to be induced or a c-section unless it is medically necessary. He has a small kidney problem, so I pray he wont have to come early.
  • Mine won't induce unless it's medically necessary or you are 41 weeks. She will be in India for 2 weeks until 11/7 so we won't induce until 11/9 (EDD 10/28) if needed. Thank you for putting perspective on all of this!!
  • @adriennerose80, hope your baby comes home soon!

I am being induced for medical reasons on Sunday and I'm kinda bummed because I will likely not experience going into labor on my own (unless baby girl decides to be born in the next 6 days). But gotta do what is best for her. That being said, I might buy some pineapple today.
  • YES to everything OP has said.... Unless medically necessary, there is absolutely no reason to rush our little blessings to come earlier than they are ready. However, I do plan on using Clary Sage to help if my labor stalls, but not to induce labor before it starts. As much as I want to meet my little girl, I want her to develop to her fullest in the womb!
  • Thank you for sharing your story. It's so important to remember when we get uncomfortable and impatient at the end. I was very worried last week when my doctor said I could go into preterm later (34 weeks at the time), and I took his instructions to take it easy very seriously.
