Share your "pregnancy brain" stories!

The other day I was at work driving a company car out to a school in the country about an hour away from everything. It was a windy road and I started to feel really nauseas. I got to the school, jumped out of the car and went to the bushes to puke. After I relieved my stomach I went inside for my meeting. As I was leaving the meeting I realized I didn't have the car keys. I was really annoyed with myself and thought I had locked my keys in the car along with my phone and office is nearly an hour away. I get out to the car and find the door is unlocked, the keys are in the ignition and the car is RUNNING! I'm my defense the car was a Pruis so super quiet but still, I am was so embarrassed for myself! Thank goodness no one stole the car, I sure made it easy for a thief!

Do you have any funny/terrible pregnancy brain stories?

I was on the phone with the insurance company and couldn't remember my address for the life of me! So I entered my street name in google maps and had auto fill remind me.

I also drove back 5 miles to get my kid's stuffed animal, only to find it in the passenger seat next to me upon reaching my destination.
  • Today, I was trying to call a particular number, and ended up texting the number to someone instead. I didn't even realize it until my phone wasn't ringing.

  • I couldn't remember the four digit code to get into my son's daycare.
  • Yesterday I was showing my DH a photo of my sister, BIL and SIL. He said "wow, Taylor's gotten big". I said "No, that's Joe". He repeated himself, I repeated myself. I was annoyed until I realized I have a BIL and a SIL named Taylor and although my BIL Taylor wasn't in the picture (my BIL Joe was in the picture) my SIL Taylor was in fact in the photo and is 6 months pregnant and in fact "getting bigger". For whatever reason I thought he was confusing my BIL Joe with my BIL Taylor. It sucks when your brain stops working and you don't even know it to the point you are annoyed with the other person!
  • Apparently I've been consistently leaving the fridge door open... Sorry DH.

I missed my exit on the way home from work because I spaced out. Two days later I missed my exit for the grocery store (it's only 2 exits down).

Also, I had to edit this post because I originally wrote "dates" instead of "days"
  • I forgot my last name in my first pregnancy. I stood staring at a piece of mail for 5 minutes before realizing it was for me.
  • I was going to the kitchen to put myself some milk. I reached in the cabinet a got a cereal bowl out and set it on the counter. Then I took the milk out of the fridge and just about poured it into the bowl. It took me a few seconds to realize I needed a cup, not a bowl!
  • I left my and my daughter's car doors open in the driveway when we got home yesterday. My husband caught it *hours* later.
  • "Mom how do you spell Minute.... And Tuesday?"
  • I think DH has inherited my pregnancy brain... last week he lost his keys, forgot his computer, forgot his lunch twice... poor guy, but I'll take it if it means I get to keep my sanity!
  • I was working as a server six days a week until recently.... Messed up a lot of orders :(
My favourite one was when I accidentally put in the order of a table I'd had three days ago for poor couple sitting there that day! They ordered mofungo and pasta and ended up with mozzarella sticks and a fried red snapper!!
  • I fussed at my husband for leaving an empty plate with a fork on it in the fridge. He said I did that lol
  • I went shopping, and somehow failed to purchase the sweater that I picked out.. But brought home a bunch of other crap I didn't really need.. Argh.
  • I was laying in bed watching tv a. It went to commercial and I looked down at my phone to check a text for a second. By the time I was done reading the text I had completely forgotten what I was watching and had to wait for it to come back to remember. I've been forgetting all sorts of small stuff too like what I need at the grocery store. I didn't think pregnancy brain was real but oh boy is it.
  • Woke up this morning to realize I overslept and was going to miss my flight for a business trip...when I looked at my phone I realized I never set an alarm. At all.
  • I was making a list of baby shower guests and had a lot of trouble remembering several names of friends.

I couldn't remember a potential guest's name and had to text my BF for help.

"What's the name of your buddy's wife? She's from New York?"

    He responded "D****?"

    Me: "Yes!!! Thank you!!!"

I've hung out with this couple so many times, I should have remembered her name, but drew a big fat blank on it.
  • I dropped my smoothie getting out of the car at work. When I went to clean it up and throw it in the nearby dumpster, I also threw in my car keys. Helooooo, Monday!
  • I got really lucky Thursday. I had told my daycare kiddos parents that they could drop him off early since mom had an early meeting... And then when I woke up to my early alarm I assumed I had set it wrong and stayed in bed. Luckily his dad was running late and texted to let me know they were "finally" on their way so I could put on a bra and real pants before they knocked on the door. Phew.

  • Tonight I went to the wrong train station to pick up DH after work. Waited there 20 minutes before he called to ask me where I was...
  • I had to ask my DH what my age was at my last prenatal appointment.

  • This time I haven't done anything silly but with DD I threw away like $160 at work and had to go through the dumpster to find it.
  • This thread makes me smile! I can empathise with so many of these! Thank goodness for the bump and sharing with women in similar circumstances!

For the last few weeks I've had major memory issues, but more embarrassingly, I not infrequently use the wrong words - I normally only realise when the other person looks at me like I'm crazy or queries what I'm taking about
eg 'filing cabinet' when I meant to say 'cupboard', 'pasta' when I mean 'pizza' etc
  • We have to scan to get everywhere in our building. I keep forgetting to scan my badge before opening the door, so I keep making the doors beep angrily. And, the other day, I nearly face planted into a door because I forgot to hit the exit button.
  • I have one I have one! Can I also say it took me way too long to find this thread so perhaps that's part pregnancy brain?

We're doing renovations on our house before we sell or rent (we don't currently live there so it's vacant and furniture free). DH just became part owner of a construction company and found contract/insured day laborers (in the last we've always gone and picked up guys from Home Depot or star nursery but he wanted something "safer" for this). Well he got guys and DS is in school today so I decided to be a good wife and I got them a bunch of sandwhiches. Then I drive straight home, and ate my sandwhich. And sat there. And then realized, I didn't take the sandwhiches over. I can't wife today.

  • I completely forgot what side my gas tank is on, and looked like a doof at the gas station. Mind you, I drive a lot for work and usually get get 2-3 times a week.

  • In case anyone else was wondering, frozen burgers do NOT belong in the kitchen's odds and ends/scissors drawer. 8-}
  • I too have left my car door open all day and keep using the wrong words for stuff. I feel like my pregnancy brain is worse second time around
  • I accidentally left the house in slippers today. Granted they are rubber soled ones...it was not the look I was intending to go with.

In our new Suburu, DH driving ready to back out of the garage.  He realizes the car doesn't have both garage doors

programmed in so I get out to close the one he is not driving out of...the button I pushed closed BOTH doors as he is backing out.  Thankfully, our garage door has a safety thing so it stopped as soon as it started to hit the car.  Luckily there is just a tiny scratch.  DH was not too happy with me...

Second story, a few weeks ago I wrote out a large check to a contractor who was coming to do work on our house.  Completely forgot to transfer money from my savings to my checking so the check bounced. :(
  • I was trying to find the nearest social security office so I went to the website to put in my zip code to find one near me and I put in 3 zip codes from previous apartments that we've lived in the last 12 years and then I finally remembered my current zip code on the 4th try...
  • My LO goes to daycare on the Navy base that I work at, one day after work I'm on way home I looked in the back seat and didn't see my baby and almost started crying thinking I'm the worst mother ever because I forgot to pick her up, then I realized that my mother had her for the day.

  • My work screwed up my paycheck.  It was only for half.  I didn't want to mess with having to get a check, so they were going to direct deposit it with next payday.  Well, I totally forgot about the automatic withdrawals I had set up later in the month.  Oh, like our mortgage.  Ended up costing us $240 in fees!!  The bank wouldn't refund them.  I totally cried bc we could have bought our car seat for that.
