Re: TTTC Checkin - 09/27/2015

  • CD 1, so starting cycle 19 or 20 (didn't start keeping as good track until the last few months). October will be month 18. DH asked that we start checking things out in November or December, rather than October like i would have preferred. We have our first appointment in December. I wish it was sooner.

QOTW: this might be cheesy, but my imagination. I played make-believe games with my siblings and by myself all the time. It helped that we lived in the woods - a great back drop for make believe games of lost kids, fairies, and hidden villages!

@Drove2u I'm so sorry you had to cancel your trip. I hope everything gets resolved soon. Hugs!

    Happy Monday everybody.

I go for my IUI this morning. This will be my 4th and I'm hopeful that this will finally be my cycle.
Did Bravelle this month and I wound up with two follicles on Saturday am: a 19 and 16. Triggered Saturday night.
Really really hoping this is it!

ETA: favorite childhood toy was an amazing doll kitchen. It wasn't a Barbie one; it was kind of generic and green but it had everything with extreme detail and was big. It was a little girl's dream.

    Good luck ladies!
      • TTC #1 since August 2014
      • currently on 5th medicated IUI cycle
  • Hi Ladies,
    at
I am in a holding period right now.  This cycle (IUI #3) was a bust..no follicles were growing and all signs pointed to me not ovulating at all this month. I am on provera to help bring on a period.  I have taken 3 of 7 pills and then AF should show 2-7 days after I stop them.  In the meantime I am starting acupuncture today and I am taking DHEA as well as my prenatal as recommended by my RE.  However the past few nights I've been waking up with night sweats and am really concerned as to why that is happening. I have DOR so I know early menopause is in my future but i am only 32 (almost 33) and it hosuldn't be this early. That said I know I still have follicles every month so I assume even if it is signs of menopause I am not out until I have no follicles at all.  I knew we should have started trying for #2 sooner but we had no issues with #1 and DH was getting his MBA and didn't want to think about a second until he was done.  Who knew we would have all these issues.

My favorite childhood toy was probably board games. I loved them..I also loved playing school (not so much a toy but explains how I ended up as a teacher!)

    2.  What is your diagnosis? Unexplained Infertility

    3.  What is your current treatment plan? Had an IUI on 9/24 and if not pregnant, then I will be starting Clomid next cycle with plan for another IUI

My favorite toy as a child was probably my Easy Bake Oven...and I still love to bake!

  • Good morning everyone!

I have my second lupron injection scheduled for Thursday. I noticed my emotions are all over the place. I am working through it though. I'm still getting mild headaches most days. DH is being very supportive through this.

My favorite childhood toys were my Polly Pockets! I had hundreds of those things. Now I wonder why/how my parents tolerated those little things being all over the house. :)

    Good luck everyone!
  • Hi everyone and thanks for the group hugs. :-) I just got back from an appt since it looks like I'm having an ectopic. They couldn't find anything anywhere. So waiting for my blood results now and if my hcg went up then I will need methotrexate. I should find out in a few hours.

Favorite toy: easy bake oven also. I thought it was cool and adult. Meanwhile in my real adulthood I'm a terrible baker. Lol
  • I just want to say THANK YOU, THANK YOU for everyone's support!  You all are amazing and I am so thankful to have a place where other women can relate to this IF craziness.  The last two weeks were a little rough and I literally thought I was on a roller coaster, but I/We are in a good place.  I was a little anxious because I just didn't know where we were in the process after a CP and DH is going out of the country for 10 days next month and it would have been around the time of O.  But I did end up bleeding a little (nothing bad) for about 3 days and they said I could consider that AF since my HCG had dropped to -2 days before.  I was given the go-ahead for round three of Clomid + a trigger shot if we felt up for it...so we're doing it.  Today is my last day of Clomid and then I go next Monday for an U/S and trigger.  FX!!

Still thinking about you @Drove2u -- hope you're doing okay!

QOTW:  I loved any arts & crafts project, but also loved playing Barbies with my sister.
  • @Aera11 GL to you!

@Drove2u More Hugs coming >:D<  Hang in there, you got this!

@Whiggrrl65 GL with your IUI today

My update: Currently on CD17 and 1DPO.  I went in to see RE on 9/24 for u/s and I had 1 mature follicle at 19mm and possibly another grower.  Lining was at 10 and I was prescribed BD for Friday and Saturday.  Unfortunately only got 1 of those days in, but hey- you take what you can get.  Totally natural this cycle, but I was blessed with decent numbers.  Hoping for a miracle implantation as I go through my 2ww.

QOTW: Probably my Cabbage Patch kid and Cricket doll.  The Cricket doll would talk to me and somehow her hair started coming through her mouth, I thought the doll became possessed.  I was really afraid of her after that.  Cabbage Patch kid got #1 spot after that incident.

@babyexpress haha that story about your Cricket doll!! How traumatic!

I'm just waiting for my cysts to go away. I don't get to go back in for monitoring until 10/6. Luckily, the pain has gone away for the most part. I don't feel my right side anymore, which is the side that had 3 big ones. I'm thinking and hoping this is a good sign. Strangely, though, I started feeling the 2 not as large ones on my left side. That kinda worries me a little since I didn't feel them when I was first diagnosed last week. They only really bother me if I'm placing more weight on my left side when sitting or if I bend to the side. I'm just hoping it doesn't mean they are getting bigger. Maybe the pain from the right was just too distracting and I just didn't previously notice the left. I guess only time will tell!

We refer to the birth control pills I need to take as "irony pills." It keeps me laughing each evening when I take them. My husband set an alarm on his phone so I wouldn't forget, and he'll just exclaim it's irony pill time!

In the meantime, I am heavily investing myself in all your outcomes and living vicariously through your experiences!

QOTW: I can't really remember my favorite toy. I was a huge tomboy and always outside playing baseball, football with the neighbors, and tennis. My childhood memories are pretty much sports-related.

Officially TTC #1 since January 2015
  • Hey there ladies :)
It's so nice not to be in this alone. I wish I could take everyone's struggles and fix them! Including mine :P

I'm on TWW right now. To be honest, not feeling that hopeful because while I managed to TI and trigger when needed- I had no ewcm that I'm aware of. One more thing to talk to the dr about!

Favorite toy growing up, I would have to say my bike. Once I learned how to ride it, it was like a bit of freedom in the neighborhood. I even rode to my friends houses that were miles away! And we used to take it camping, I'd ride all over the campgrounds.

    Lilypie Pregnancy tickers

  • Happy Monday!
I am on cycle day 3, and will start Clomid in two days. As I mentioned last time, the Dr. bumped up my dosage to 100 because the 50 didn't cut it. I am hopeful this is the right dosage.

My favorite toy growing up was Barbie. I played with them (embarrassingly) until I was 14, and I probably had thirty different Barbies!!! Interestingly, I only had two Kens. So. . . they were like pimps I guess.

  • Well the last several days have been crazy. DH and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary yesterday and we are on vacation. It's so nice being in the warm sunny weather. And per dr we were ovulating right before leaving for vacation. But we figure it's probably best because of no stress. So we are in the TWW.

QOTW: My favorite toy was my Waterbaby. I just remember being a kid and waking up soaked to discover my baby leaked all over the bed. After that my parents patched it and filled it with air.
  • Hey everyone
So I have officially done all the testing and am waiting for the results...based on cd 21 bloodwork I am not ovulating but after the hcg i was told that my tubes weren't blocked so now we are waiting for the results of the u/s and dh's sa...hoping to hear tomorrow this waiting to find out is driving me crazy especially knowing part of the problem...

My fave toy as a kid was my Polly pocket I loved them and had several different ones and liked to make back stories to them all.
  • I had my first RE appt yesterday. She said my sono looked great. I am doing hsg friday. I don't get results for the weeks. I am so discouraged though. To use our own donor, we have to pay $1000 for each sample and they have to quarantine it for 6 months. Wth? We have already spent $1000 on legal paperwork and have iron clad paperwork saying that it doesn't matter about genetics or diseases. (Since he is family of my wife, we know his family history and know he is disease free) It's not like anyone's husband has to go through that. And we have to pay for counseling since we are same sex using a donor we know. So it's cheaper to just buy sperm. But it loses the dna connection to my wife :( so that is about $1500 just for sperm now (no longer free like we planned). She won't do medicated and let us try at home bc she is against doing it at home. So she will only prescribe meds if I do an iu or ivf. Ins only pays for testing, so it will a be out of pocket. How do y'all pay for it?!! One cycle with meds and buying sperm is all of our money. They only do financing for ivf (and I can't find any place online that finances iui either). Then she tells us how the chances are low with iui, so it prob won't work the first cycle, but that is our whole savings :( I really think this was our final straw to say we aren't having kids. I am so upset :(

  • @twomommiestobe I'm so sorry!! This is all just so unfair. Is there another provider in your area that would let you do medicated cycles at home?

@Drove2u I'm so sorry. I'm sending you all the internet hugs in existence.

I'm still trying to get all my ducks in a row for my 1st appointment. Insurance approved my referral but RE office still hasn't received my records from the OB. We were able to scramble and get a SA on DH before he left and his pcp messaged him through their online patient portal and said everything was normal but they didn't tell us any numbers. After my last OB appointment when my AMH came back high (9.5 ng/mL) and I had a lot of follicles during my SIS my OB wanted to check my testosterone and DHEAS to evaluate me for PCOS because of my history of irregular cycles. The nurse called to tell me those came back normal. So I'm just counting down the days until November 12.

My favorite toy was probably my Super Nintendo. But I was also obsessed with barbies and Polly pockets.

I will be back on clomid cd 3 - 7, estradiol on cd 8 - 12, temping on cd 9+, and hopefully I can make it to starting progestrone. I had to erase my ff account and start over. Because of the 17 day and 20 day cycles it was saying ovulation would occur on day 6. I figured the data was so skewed it would be best to start over from scratch this cycle.

Qotw: I was an outside kid. My favorite toy was anything out of the house (nothing in particular).

@twomommiestobe that is awful, I'm so sorry you have to deal with all the extra obstacles.  @riveridgional did her cycles medicated with TI only.  Her RE told her that her chances only go up by 2% with IUI when you are medicated.  She also had to pay out of pocket for IUI, so she opted for TI.

  • @turtle148 you can choose to exclude weird cycles from your stats so they don't affect the prediction algorithm.

If you are on the app:
Click on more in the top left corner
Scroll down to data analysis tools
    Scroll down to cycle statistics
Select or deselect each cycle by touching the box under the "in stats" column

  • The issue is, Drs will do medicated TI, until they hear we are lgbt and using a donor. We already spent a ton of money on legal paperwork, but they still see it as a liability if I catch a disease or genetic disorder appears in the baby. I'm hoping in 3 weeks when we get the dx, I can just find natural help. Diet, supplements, etc. If not, the dream is over. :( sorry to be such a downer, but I'm just at a brick wall.

  • I am thinking of all you ladies.  Giving hugs to those who need them and keeping my fingers crossed for others.

Trying to stay positive here and as relaxed as possible.  I’m on CD16.  Our 2nd and final IUI was this past Friday and the OB said to BD Friday – Monday.  We were very hopeful as we had 2 follies at 25 and 27 then triggered Thursday.  We try every cycle to not get too excited or stressed, but that is so hard.  Come Sunday we were so positive, my temp jumped up, hopefully indicating ovulation on Saturday (though with Clomid I hear that’s not always reliable).  However, since Sunday we have been hit with an enormous amount of stress within our family which halted our BD and perhaps ruined our chances during this final treatment of IUI before we are referred to an RE.

I am trying to stay positive that we got in an IUI and two great BD sessions before my temp increased, Sunday and Monday weren’t necessary.  I say that to DH to help his emotional state, but I am worried and angry that our missed days and stress level may have moved us from our OB to the RE and this cycle is a bust.  I know I cannot focus on the “what ifs”, by CD16, we either conceived or didn’t.  If by some miracle we conceived this cycle I do not want to harm our chances by stressing about our family, but it is not easy.

QOTW: I loved this teddy bear my mom got as a gift with purchase from a department store, he was nearly as big as I was.  I use to sneak in her closet and take the bear, hold him till she drove up the drive way, then run it back to her closet before she walked through the door.  One year we were awfully tight on money and for my birthday she wrapped up the bear and gave it to me.  That was nearly 30 years ago, he now sits on a shelf in our spare room waiting for the day little arms will drag him everywhere once again.

@twomommiestobe My heart is breaking for you. As if you haven't been through enough struggle! I'm absolutely shocked about the cost of using a donor sperm from a friend/relative, and the 6 month quarantine? Maybe call around a few places and see if they can just tell you if there would be any added costs in your situation? I'm hoping maybe that clinic just charges unnecessarily. If not, maybe wait for your diagnosis. If it turns out you have PCOS and are insulin-resistant, it is possibly metformin could help regulate you but I've heard varying results on this. Tempi g and using OPK sticks may help you figure out the best time for an IUI at home if you are more regular or don't get a lot of false positive OPKs.

Paying OOP adds an unfair, extra level of stress to this process, but I can't believe the added cost to you based on your same-sex relationship. Do some research online and see if there are any grants available to same-sex couples in your position. In New Orleans, we have an organization called Forum for Equality. I wonder if you have any similar organization where you live. Maybe you can contact them and they can help you find a grant program or perhaps a funding opportunity. Good luck to you!

@twomommiestobe You could also see if there are grants for the IVF process based on income or same-sex that would actually make it a possibility for you.

  • @riveridgional I have very irregular cycles, usually about 80 days. I figured if I had pcos there would have been an indication from the sono (but I'm still so new at this). I'm going to spend the rest of the week looking at other clinics to see if I can do meds with TI (in our case at home ai). Maybe it's just that dr. It was the only clinic that had a place on their website for lgbt families. So they probably are just charging us more since it's a "specialty".

  • @twomommiestobe I'm so sorry, that sounds so frustrating! Thinking of you - I hope something can be worked out in your favor.

I actually have an update of sorts. I spoke to my insurance company today, and they said my initial diagnostic testing, even if it is to diagnose infertility, is covered under my normal plan. I have a high deductible plan with an HSA, $2600 deductible per person or $5000 family max per calendar year. So I'm actually glad now that our initial consultation isn't until December - most of the testing will be in the new year then so we can start fresh. If we go beyond $2600 for either one of us, the plan covers the rest at 100%.

Then artificial reproductive technologies (including IVF of it ever comes to that) to help us get pregnant have a lifetime max of $25,000. So anything before we are trying to get pregnant, that is just for diagnosis, is covered normally, and the fertility drugs, IUI or IVF fall under the $25,000 lifetime max.

I'm feeling better about our next steps, knowing that I have good coverage for testing, some for treatment, and the clinic I'm going to start with is in network so I'll get better pricing. And also now I'm really happy we stretched to put $200/month into the HSA so we have enough in the HSA to cover that full $5000 out of pocket max, should we need it next year! Feeling reall lucky to have coverage like this, if we need it.

  • Hey everyone! It's CD 16 for me. I ovulated cd14 and had positive opks and O pains. Looks like the clomid worked! Now in the TWW and already getting very inpatient! If I am not pregnant this cycle, next cycle I need to find a RE that is near me to do the monitoring, the one I went to last month is too far away.

  • Uuughhh... I just want to vent about how much I HATE taking birth control pills!! I'm on my way to having a migraine for the second day in a row. This is why I stopped taking them over 3 years ago! God help me if I have to do IVF as I don't know how I'm going to handle taking them. No injection can be worse than BCPs for me. I'm so scared my cysts will still be there on 10/6 and I'll have to keep taking them. The left ones hurt when I try to make a BM, so I'm not too hopeful. I don't understand how they can be getting bigger. Booooooooo

    Vent over. Thanks for listening.

March 2016: Pending Transfer (I have 3 PGS tested embryos waiting for a womb)
April 2016: BFP, the old fashioned way.

  • @babyexpress I'm on Marlissa (Levonorgestrel and Ethical Estradiol tablets). Never heard of these before!! My OB used to put me on low estrogen BC pills, and I would still get migraines. I had to stop taking them when I had one every day but one for 2 weeks straight. I was convinced at that time I had to have a brain tumor. Luckily, no. I was so concerned these fertility drugs would bring them back but so far, so good until the BCPs.

I don't know whether I should call my RE or not if I get another one tomorrow. If it will actually help me move forward on Tuesday, I'll take a migraine every day, but I don't want to go through this for nothing. I've given up on only taking tylenol. I'm thinking it shouldn't really matter at this point since I'm not even stimming yet.

  • Hi ladies! Started trying when we got married 5 years ago and off and on since then. Finally started seeing an RE this year. Our diagnosis is unexplained (ugh) and we decided to try Clomid as our first step next cycle. Since everything is out of pocket, we're trying to ease our way into it. We'll see how long I'm able to hold out before switching to injections.

Sending lots of positive thoughts to you ladies. [-O<
