I'm a realtor and have been thinking about how to handle work with the baby coming. Our office is very close knit and I have plenty of agents who could help me out with different things. I'm very fortunate that I can work from home a lot, but I'm trying to decide when to stop pursuing new deals (don't want the stress of a closing the week of labor for example) and how to handle my listings while I'm taking time off with the baby. Do any of you in this career or something similar have a specific plan set up? This is my first and everyone I know in the business got started after having children.
Re: Any other realtors out there?
I run a financial services practice, and usually around Dec 20th people start postponing meetings til after the new year. They typically don't commit to a precise meeting because of the craziness of the holidays, and ask me to call them back the first week or two of Jan, a few days after the new year. With being due Jan 20th, any new cases will be done jointly in January so another rep can go out on the case if I can't do it. Otherwise, I'll just do phone conferences until it's time to go.
I'm nervous about maternity leave too and balancing my business. This is my first child, and I'm one of 3 women in our firm (apart from staff) and the first to have a child, so it's new to me and everyone else!
ETA: if all your files/paperwork (hello spreadsheets!) are on point and the agent you partner with is a good one, you'll have no reason to stress!
