Symptoms and questions?

I don't know where the thread is but I'm starting a new one. 23 weeks 3 days round ligament pain is killer. Question: when pushing to poop is it excruciating for anyone else? I'm not pushing hard im hardly pushing at all even the push to get pee to come out is the equivalence of what I'm talking about I don't even want to try and poop because my whole abdomen has been hurting. Thoughts???

Re: Symptoms and questions?

  • I'm right there with you. I can say definitely don't strain to have a bowel movement! That leads to hemorrhoids which can be super uncomfortable and scary the first time you get them. I seem to have a day or two each week where everything is stretching and growing to accommodate the little one and these days are particularly painful when trying to pee. It's all round ligament pain and stretching of the skin and uterus. If your pee starts to smell funny or change colors talk to your Dr. as you may have a UTI. I take a warm bath on these day or use a heating pad on the lowest setting to relieve some of the aches.

  • Luckily any constpation i have experienced comes and goes...definitely try not to strain so much!

Anyone heard anything about a hormone spike around 22 weeks or so?

Someone told me about this, and it may explain my sudden onset of all new symptoms (and some returners from the first tri). I'm 22+4 and past few days I have experienced:

    Dizzy spells
    Nausea
    Seeing spots
    Exhaustion
    Headaches

I am going to my Dr to make sure everything is well because they came on strong and suddenly this past week, and accompanied by pretty bad bad pain and belly pain (I'm not sure if it's RLP or not anymore). I *think* I may have experienced a Braxton hicks or 2 yesterday..... my BP is completely normal but Dr wants to see me anyway.

Anyone have anything similar to this going on?

  • Drink lots of water and check with your doctor to see if you can take a stool softener.  Good luck!

  • @BabyRut2015 I've been getting dizzy/nausea/light headed too! Started on Saturday when I turned to 23 weeks! I have an appointment on Tuesday, I was going to ask about it.

Also, my belly is sensitive to the touch, is that just from the skin stretching?

  • I have had the weirdest symptom the last couple of days and was wondering if I'm alone.  Yesterday am I chugged a bunch of water (we've been having a crazy heat wave here and I was really thirsty) and... I just feel like it was sitting in my abdomen, stuck there all day.  I still kind of feel it today!  It's driving me crazy, just a weighty, liquid feeling in my belly as if there is a half gallon of water just hanging out in there.

It's made it so I don't want to drink any liquids (though obviously I do, to keep hydrated.)  Food isn't a problem at all.

I'm sure this is just my stomach being a weirdo, but I wondered if anyone else has had this experience after drinking too much water too fast?  I've never had this experience before being pregnant and I drink tons of liquids all the time.
  • @maureenmce, I have this problem every single day! I try to drink more water because I know I'm not getting enough, but it feels like it just sits there! I'm not sure where you are located, but we just had a horrible heat wave here as well, and I didn't think I would survive! It finally just started to cool off today.

  • @SummerFall03 Oh thank god I'm not the only one!  And yes, we've had a heat wave too.  (I'm in Los Angeles.)  I think it's supposed to cool down after today and hopefully the feeling of water sitting in my stomach will go away too, at some point.  :/
  • @BabyRut2015 if you are dizzy or seeing spots contact your ob immediately. Those are usually signs for something more serious and not to mess around with
  • I only have issues with BMs if I don't get enough water or vegetables but I find baby gets uncomfortable when I'm bloated so it happens eventually.

On a side note is any one else that wears contacts or suffer from allergies having wicked dry bad dry eyes? I know it is supposed to be a symptom but it really sucks. I also drool more when I sleep and burp a lot lol. Classy, I know.
  • I actually had pink spotting this afternoon. I had sex this morning and after a BM there was pink slotting. I'm 22w1d. I have a Dr appointment tomorrow. Right now I'm thinking of just waiting until tomorrow to tell my Dr rather than going to the ER. Any of you experience spotting around 22 weeks??

Spotting after sex is normal, and spotting during pregnancy is normal. However, if it's enough to fill a pad in an hour, or accompanied by extreme cramps, drink water and call your doctor asap.
  • So achy and tired! Can't get a thing done around the house with all the "resting" I have to do.

  • @RilynnBael my eyes have been getting extra dry and bloodshot this pregnancy (I don't wear contacts though, just glasses). I'm much more sensitive to allergies than usual so I'm right with you!
  • Well..I don't have issues with a bm..but,
after using the restroom I git alot of lower pain when I tilt a bit to wipe. Driving me crazy. I was thinking it was the partial previa but idk.

Spotting after sex can be normal. You should tell your doctor about it still. I had a tiny amount of light spotting, it didn't fill a pad or anything, but it turns out I had a marginal sinus bleed on my placenta. Yours is probably because of sex, but I'd call the dr anyway!

If this has been addressed please point me in the right direction!

Has anyone had localized swelling and have suggestions for treating it? The left side of my mons pubis (the top part of the vagina that's just skin over pubic bone) swelled painlessly during my last pregnancy and this time it's swollen again but hurts. Dr said that there's not much to do because compression undies don't work (most places on my body she'd have me wear compression garments) and midwife didn't have any suggestions except to try stopping waxing. (I only wax every 6-8 weeks and Id like to keep something to make me feel sexy thankyouverymuch!) Im hoping someone else has had success. It's not horribly painful but it's annoying.

ETA: just to be clear this is not the "hamburger crotch" symptom. I found that thread. So far so good down there. This is a little further north, between where the top of my panties hits and the goodies.
  • My most recent symptoms have been bloody noses (which I never ever got in the passed), phlegm, itchy hands, and my fingertips have been peeling like crazy! It's so gross! Funny story (kind of gross) about the bloody nose.. My husband travels for work and he likes to take a shower when he gets home to decompress from the road. While he's in the shower I get a nosebleed, and I'm fine with it. I just stuff a tissue up there to stop the bleeding. Then I get the urge to cough and spit, something also normal at this point, and I realize I'm spitting out blood. I go into FULL PANIC MODE and charge into the bathroom, freaking out because I think I'm like bleeding internally or something. My husband jumps and just looks at me like I'm a crazy woman. He gets nosebleeds every so often and had to explain to me that it was completely normal. I felt so stupid because obviously your nasal passage is connected to your throat. Most of all I felt bad that I panicked my husband after he just home from driving 6 hours!
  • I can't tell if I'm experiencing indigestion or heartburn. Sometimes after I eat I have this feeling of something in my throat almost like if I was to burp food would come back up and sometimes I do feel food come back up. Not sure what is causing it yet. Any ideas of this is heartburn or indigestion?

Sounds like indigestion to me. That food in throat feeling and feeling like your food won't go down. I take a 10 mg Pepcid everyday and got it approved by my doctor. Maybe that could work for you!

  • Thanks for the tip! I'll ask my doctor to see if I can take Pepcid. Do you know what foods were causing it?
  • @Knottie95966472 I haven't had any nosebleeds yet but my nose and crusty on the inside so I stuck s tissue in and all the boogers came out bloody. I told my doctor and she said it's very common.
  • 22 weeks. Wierd, random pain...but my butt hurts. Like from my croch to my butt is so sensitive, it hurts to sit on it. I bought a donut pillow and it helps, but so annoying! Anyone else?
  • @RilynnBael I had that problem but my eye doctor suggested I switch to a new contact, at least for the pregnancy. They are thinner and breathe better. They are more expensive but it solved my problem. I say go see your optometrist.
  • Peeing had become a major challenge for me since 23 weeks..I'm 24 now and it's no better. I move back and forth, in circles, I shake...all just to try and empty my bladder. It's impossible, LO is sitting very low, right on top of my bladder, and now I can't pee to save my life. I've been constipated for the first time too. Just the past few days though. I'm hoping this improves a bit.

I just had to call my Dr. yesterday and almost leave work to get checked out.  Sorry for a potential TMI post in relation to this but, Thursday while at work I had a bowl movement, it had been maybe 3-4 days since having one.  I knew constipation was normal around this time, (I am 22 weeks tomorrow).  I wiped and there was a decent amount of bright red blood on the toilet paper, and when I got up to check the toilet, there was blood on my stool and droplets in the toilet. Nothing hurt, and to be honest, I was relieved to have finally pooped!  I will say I was pushing a little more than usual to get it out, but I knew it was because it had been a few days.  Not that I ignored it, but there was no pain to follow and no other bleeding so I dismissed it.  Yesterday morning, I get to work and had to go again.  This time there was a little blood when I wiped and blood was on a few pieces of stool, but nothing like Thursday.  I immediately call my Dr. as I am thinking twice back to back, something has to be wrong with me. She had said tried Colace or generic stool softener, and drink more water.  I unfortunately do not drink as much as I should be.  All in all, the nurse agreed that it could be a hemorrhoid and/or anal fissure (tear) which caused the bleeding.  Being backed up for a few days and lack of water in my diet, contributed to it too.  If the softener doesn't work she said, and I am still seeing blood, call on Monday and they'd get me in.
  • Anyone else having abdominal pain like you ab muscles are stretching and having trouble holding your uterus up? I was out shopping all day on thursday and all I wanted to do at the end of the day was hold my belly up with my hands while walking. I've found I don't get this discomfort when I wear tighter pants that offer more support. Does anyone use a support band for their belly? If so, where did you get it?

  • Is this the correct post for symptoms? Just tried to do a search for shooting pain in breasts and I found it for about every other area of the body. Does anyone else get shooting pains in their chest-- but that are actually running through their breasts? I met with my cardiologist and she said it's not my heart (so that's good), but I'm just wondering if this is the typical type breast pain people talk about (I thought that was more in the nature of breast soreness than random shooting pains). Anything I can do to relieve the pain?
  • Absolutely. Band very much helps. My walking/exercise limitations change on a daily/weekly basis & Dr. says it's normal. I'm 23 weeks w/ Fraternal twin girls

Me too! If I sit @ my desk at work for more than an hour it starts to really hurt. So painful! I'm trying to just be more active during the day but I might look into getting a new chair...
  • Ugh, yea just this week started whole bunches of pain lol what the heck baby? I've been pretty symptom free all pregnancy, now at almost 24 weeks, back is hurting, my bum is hurting, feet are sore, some growing pains in my stomach. I went from happy go lucky to pretty miserable quick this week. Bending down sucks, stairs suck, doing my toe nails suck. Lol I guess I do need to shave at least once this week? Hmm, questionable lmao! Oh man, is it uncomfortable-time from here on out? Oh man, January, let's go!! :-)
  • I know everyone is different....when does everyone start waddling? Lol I know multiples are probably earlier. I don't think I am, but I feel it's pretty soon. Lol
