  • Um peanut butter and celery is delicious. Reminds me of snack time in school during my childhood when we ate "ants on a log"

@ohbaby714, that sentence could have been much worse with that beginning. I'm so glad you used it to eat peanut butter.

  • My confession is my BIL and soon to be SIL from hell are getting married in two weeks and I don't want to go. She's already told my MIL that my pregnancy is going to ruin her wedding. Since its my H's brother getting married he is forcing me to go, why can't I just use my pregnancy uncomfortable-ness as an excuse to get me out of it?

  • Ok. This is probably shame worthy, and I'm sure when this LO comes my views will change... But, I can't stand seeing babies/ toddlers on FB or other social media with only a diaper on. Put some clothes on that baby! I live in upstate NY, right now our days are warm 65-75, and our nights can get chilly. It's not 95 with 100% humidity here. Again, put some clothes on that baby!

Probably just me, I also don't like seeing friends/ "FB friends" post pictures of their naked asses. Also, shame on FB for having low standards and not seeing any problem with this or removing them.

I don't have a problem with baby butt pictures. I've never posted one on the Internet, personally, and never will. But I don't really judge people who do. I have a bunch of pictures of myself as a baby that show my butt, and I don't mind.

Not saying I'm right, just my feelings. I actually kind of wonder if my thoughts on it will change over the years as the world gets more and more scary.

I too don't post these particular pictures of dd, I might of a boy because it's different to me. I see so many butt pics and have seen quite a few other controversial images shared even in "private" Facebook groups and think they shouldn't be shared there either. It's fine to take these pics of your babies, because who doesn't love babies in diapers but for your personal pics not the Internet....

I worked at the jcp portrait studio part time one holiday season and they actually don't allow taking pics of little girls over the age of one with no top on. You can do diaper shots, bathtub poses etc there until they hit one.

  • During potty training at home DD runs around naked, and when she needs to go potty, she goes! If any pictures are taken they only get sent to my husband. I'm sure I have taken diaper shots before though, it's NBD to me. My nephew is almost always in diaper shots because he hates pants on, plus he is cloth diapered so my sister likes showing off the different prints :)

That's insane to me... they are babies. Talk about sexualizing children. (yes I know the world is an f'd up place) I guess to me babies should get to be babies despite all the horrible, terrible things and that includes getting their family and friends even on FB to see them in a diaper over the age of 1. I mean don't make their nudity front and center but if it's just a part of the picture then whatevs.  *flame away*

I don't like it either. I have a friend who up until last week, I'd never seen her son wearing clothes in pictures.

  • My fffc - on Wednesday I ate half a container of sour cream and onion pringles and a bowl of meatball spaghetti-o's for dinner. The spaghetti-o's weren't even that good (compared to how relatively good they normally taste). But I honestly didn't care.

    -------------quote fail?-------------

Sadly, it's not only portrait studios that think like this. Prime example, last year, middle of summer, I was outside with my DS letting him run around because we lived in an apartment. DS was in a diaper because he gets hot really quick and I didn't see the sense in making him wear clothes just for a few minutes outside. Mind y'all, we live in Texas and summers get hot down here. Kids who lived in another building were outside and saw DS and started laughing and pointing at him and I heard a couple of the kids saying that "she" needed to have a shirt on because "she" shouldn't be running around in just a diaper. These kids were maybe 1 year old to 5 or 6 years old. They thought my DS was a she because my H and I have decided not to cut his hair until he wanted to.
IMO, it's the entire world sexualizing babies and children under 4 or 5 and even other parents seem to think it's ok to teach their own children to do the same thing. I'm not saying all parents, just there's certain ones who do it.

Edited because I think there was a quote fail. Lol
  • @Kimbarbour08 I had to stop buying the ones with meatballs cuz it just tastes... Different. Plain spaghettios are my jam.. Like every single day!
  • @mamacastro what a Bish!!! How is your pregnancy going to ruin her day?! wtf. I would go just to spite her. And eat alllll the food and cake. Steal the spotlight! Lol I'm in a be twatwaffle mood today I guess

@dragonfly321 because we are having a girl this time this will be the first grand daughter and the first girl born on that side of the family in over 20 years. So with that being said our family is really excited and my in laws are already buying things and talking about spoiling her so my SIL thinks its taking the attention away from her but she also has to always be the center of attention so that makes her crazy too
  • @baya5 be strong!!! Or if you can't... Don't tell a soul. I'm no help because I would be peeking away. Lol
  • Hahaha @dragonfly321 since this will be our last baby I should. Its probably the only good thing about going

I want to peek in the envelope soo bad and find out the sex of my baby. I only have to wait till Sunday at 5 but I've been waiting since Tuesday! DHs aunt was suppose to pick it up yesterday so it's just sitting here taunting me.

I give you lots of credit. We are team green this time but last time we were going to do a reveal with just the grandparents and H and I had the tech put it in an envelope and we made it down to the cafeteria of the hospital before we caved haha!

  • We have our A/S this afternoon and if it's a boy I plan on waiting to tell relatives until they ask - I just am dreading the "maybe, next time" or "another boy, I bet you wanted a girl.." etc. This is our last child and I do kind of want a girl but all I really want is a healthy baby at this point and I'm going to have a hard time not going off on someone if it does end up being a boy and I get those comments.

Everyone is already rooting for a girl since we already have a son, so maybe I'm just exaggerating but can totally see comments like I mentioned above happening. I'm about 99% sure it's another boy anyway but I think my son would have so much fun with a brother!

I don't know though, maybe this should have been my UO - people who say dumb comments about the sex of your baby lol!

At this point we are only planning on having one child. Everyone is ecstatic baby is a healthy boy but my MIL had the nerve to say she's only excited now because it's a boy. I wasn't expecting someone to say they hadn't been excited and that they still wouldn't be if we were having a girl. I was naive in thinking people would be pleased with a healthy baby.

The things people say to pregnant women never cease to amaze me. That was just a thoughtless comment by your MIL, I'm sorry. I would have been pretty upset if my MIL said that to me also. I think when people say comments like the examples I gave usually don't mean it in a negative way but it definitely comes off that way, to me anyway.

If it is a boy, maybe you should go ahead and announce it and make a huge deal of it. "We are so excited to be having another BOY! (Your older son's name) gets to have a little brother!!" Maybe then they'll realize you're thrilled and they'll be less likely to make negative comments, whereas if you don't tell them they might think you are disappointed? Just a thought... I agree, it's horrible when people are disappointed over one or the other.
    That's a great idea, I might just try that - thank you @purpletulip! :)

    ---- anticipating quote fail

I agree that some people say things and may not realize how easy it is for the comment to come across as negative. MIL and I don't always see eye to eye so I nicely told her I was happy everyone is excited baby is a boy but I'm most excited about a healthy baby. That seemed to end it.

  • @ashcody2 I don't understand the "disappointment" people- especially family- display over not getting the sex they want. If MIL gets up in arms about it (hypothetically) being a boy, I would probably Have something snarky to say... After all... It IS her son who decides the sex!

@xkatiekx ONLY excited because it's a boy?! Wtf! I have so many inappropriate words. Sorry you have to deal with that :(
  • @dragonfly321 thankfully H was the only one who heard my angry words!
  • @Kimbarbour08 I had to stop buying the ones with meatballs cuz it just tastes... Different. Plain spaghettios are my jam.. Like every single day!
I'm pretty sure they must have changed the ingredients in the meatball ones, and I'm pretty upset because I LOVED those before! The packaging was a little different (50th anniversary or something for the product) so maybe that should have given it away to me. I wonder if the big cans are still the same or if they changed those too . . .

I bought a bag of Halloween candy (variety pack) and have it in my office just to eat....no intention of passing it out on Halloween.
cartwheel app had like 40% off halloween candy right now. I thought it was a bad idea to buy so I'm trying (not very successfully) to resist.
