September IUIs

Re: September IUIs

  • How could you go from a 17 to 112 @Drove2u ? What if you implanted in the day of that first beta?
Very strange. I'm so sorry you are going through this.

@amos1417 it sounds like we are in similar boats. I have one that is a 14 and 2 small ones. They are hoping for IUI on Friday or Saturday but doubled my Bravelle to try to get the other two to grow. I'm just so frustrated and also feeling blah this week.

  • Thanks @kmetcalfe77 yeah I don't know how or why this is happening. Especially since I bled heavily for two days thinking I'm miscarrying and it's all out of my system.
  • @Drove2u your levels, slow increase but not doubling are indicative of an ectopic pregnancy, but most ectopic pregnancies can't be seen via US as early as uterine pregnancies can, which may explain why they need you to wait, right now they'd just see the uterine space but not the sac in the tube. ( I saw earlier that someone posted high levels are typical of ectopic, but that's not the case. REs look for slowly increasing numbers (ectopic or blighted ovum) or falling numbers (CP) )

I'm so sorry for you, this is rough! Don't hesitate to call the nurses and have them walk you through the why and when of itI all. I feel for you!

kmetcalfe77 I am thinking my IUI will be Saturday. I asked about increasing my follistim and the nurse said: "At this point increasing the dose would not increase the number of follicles or the rate in which they grow." I don't know. Maybe it has something to do with the cetrotide I am on to prevent ovulation. My trigger shot is Lupron, not HCG so that must tie into it too. Well, at least I know there's one, that's all it takes, right?!  I am so emotional and then the next minute I want to thunder punch someone in the throat. This week has been rough!!

This is also my 4th IUI cycle, first with injectables. Good luck and keep me posted, sounds like we will be in the 2ww together.

  • Oh ok, I'm so sorry @Drove2u I hope you get some answers soon.

  • @Drove2u I am thinking of you and hoping things work out for you. So stressful. I wonder why ectopic pregnancies occur?

@kmetcalfe77 and @amos1417 good luck to both of you!
  • Good evening Gals!

So today had Ultrasound to check to see how I responded to the Follistim- this is our second injectable med cycle And first time doing IUI last cycle we did TI...I took 75 iu days 4-6 then 100 iu 7 & 8) I felt good about my results 1 follicle measuring 20 mm and another 15.5 with an estrogen level of 505 lining at 11mm! Dr wanted me to do one more night of follistim 100 iu tonight just to give that second follicle a chance to get bigger and trigger (ovidrel) tomorrow at 9 pm followed by our IUI Saturday morning! I feel really good about all our good news today but I know that's just half the battle... So fingers crossed things keep moving in the right direction...

This thread is full of great information and great ladies! I love reading about everyone's situation it has helped me so much- it makes me feel like I'm not along in this journey!

Also I'm mobile and I want to know how to "tag" people In a post like if I want to put in a user name to congratulate or say something directly to someone in this thread... I can't figure out how to do that! Not inbox just post in a thread..Thanks for your help with this issue... =)
  • @Msbender129 Congrats on the great ultrasound update and fx crossed for you on Saturday!  To tag someone, do the @ symbol and then the name (no space in between).  Like @ Msbender129 but no space.. :-)

@piperella Thanks so much!! You're my first "official" tag! <:-P
  • Hi ladies! I need some words of encouragement or advice. My DH and I have been TTC for 3 years. I had a HSG and my tubes are open. His SA was 152 million! (My Dr. said I should be able to get pregnant by walking by him lol) Day 21 progesterone levels were 19, anything over 10 is good according to my Dr. I was on Femara for 6 months and nothing. We took 6 months off and nothing. Now I'm back on femara and I'm 7dp iui. His SA post wash was 76 million. I have the hormonal part of PCOS, I don't have cysts. I have a subseptic uterus but the lining is nice and thick all the way around. And some women have a skin flap on the uterus that acts like a "tentacle" that could keep moving the fertilized egg and preventing it from burrowing in your uterus. I don't have that. I guess my question is are we just having bad luck month after month year after year? Is there anything I should ask my dr? He's pretty aggressive in trying to get .e pregnant.
  • Hi Ladies! I am a first time poster and have been reading this thread religiously for the whole month. Just want to say I am rooting for all of you. @Drove2u I hope things work out and while I can't entirely relate based on my short time dealing with IF, I do get the hectic work schedule and can relate in that sense. It's very stressful to plan office visits when you have to travel for work, especially now in your situation where you want answers before leaving town. Best of luck to you.

  • @GWest13 : has your RE considered injectibles? They are supposed to improve egg quality, and that could be the little extra you need. Also, did you mean a subseptate uterus? I had a slight t-shape, got that corrected, and magic! May be worth looking into?

@Drove2u : I'm so sorry for all you're going through this month...I wish they finally had an answer for you. It does seem like your levels increased well from Friday to today, no? 17 times 2 would have been mid-30s by sunday, then 70ish on Tuesday...and now at 117? I have my FX for you that they're wrong, and this little bean was just slow to start. But I get how you just want to move on given how little hope they're giving you :( Big hugs!

@Drove2u sorry you are going through this.

Second night of 100 units of Gonal-f then us and blood work tomorrow morning. Hopefully I can trigger tomorrow night and have the IUI Fri and Sat. But I don't know. All depends on what grows.

  • Hi everyone. This is kmetcalfe 77. I changed my SN.

@mummysmomma Sounds like a bunch of us should have our IUIs this weekend. I go back tomorrow AM for US and BW and praying that the 150 ml of Bravelle over last two days has kicked the follies into gear.
Here's hoping we have a lot of TWW buddies!

  • @KidShrink yes that's what I meant lol. He said a year ago that my uterus shape has a small percentage of what's causing my infertility. Now I'm starting to think that I need to get that taken care of. Did it hurt? My HSG did. My first Dr. gave me a shot of lidocaine directly into my cervix and omg that hurt! Does your insurance cover injectibles?
  • @GWest13 : my surgery was a hysteroscopy (to correct uterus shape) and laparoscopy (for stage 4 endometriosis). I took the very minimal amount of pain meds (can't remember the name, but one was like a strong advil, the other was tylenol + codeine which I didn't touch at all. I had lots of bleeding (and was used to very light periods, so that was a bit of a shock), but I think most of the discomfort came from the incisions for the lap. My RE started us on Femara and TI for 3 months, and decided to go for the surgery because DH's count was perfect, my response was perfect, but it still wasn't happening. It was scary, but I'm glad I did it. I was under sedation for the hysteroscopy, and ended up being put under general anesthesia for the lap (he did a transvaginal endoscopy to peak at the outside of it all and realized how bad the endo was, hence the lap).

My insurance doesn't cover injectibles (it covers Femara though because it technically isn't a fertility drug...same thing for Prometrium). We did a combo of Femara 5mg days 3-7, and Follistim 75IU days 6 on. That ended up costing us about $600. I ended up with only one follie we knew for sure was mature, but that was all we needed.
  • @Msbender129 Welcome to the board. I hope the IUI is successful for you, sounds like you will have two great follicles and your estrogen numbers are fantastic! GL

@Drove2u I am so sorry. Please let us know what happens tomorrow. I am thinking of you.

@GWest13 I'm sorry you're having such a hard time. Your husbands numbers are awesome. Wow. When I had my IUI my husbands numbers post wash were 10 mil. You may want to look into the surgery @KidShrink mentioned. She got pregnant immediately after. I remember that. :)

  • So I went to RE this am. Still not ready to trigger. Lead follicle is almost a 17 but they still want to try to get the two smaller ones (10s) bigger. Plan is double dose of Bravelle today and tomorrow and I go back Saturday to double check US before trigger Saturday night. Scheduled IUI for Monday am but I'm worried that will be too late. Luckily my hubby will be home so it's looking like we will have a fun weekend :x

  • I'm on CD14 and my lead follicle is only at 15mm. Is that normal? Shouldn't it be bigger by now? RE is going to get back to me later today with blood test results and let me know if I should take trigger shot over the weekend or come in for another US in a couple of days... ::sigh:: I hate all this waiting!

  • Who hoo! I am on CD 14 and I am about to trigger for IUIs tomorrow and Saturday! My largest is at 18.3mm, is that a good size? The other unfortunately did not catch up and won't be ready. Fingers crossed that this is it!!
  • @ErikaMG do you have PCOS? I am always slow to develop even on meds because of PCOS. I'm CD 15 and still not ready to trigger. Previous cycles ( on Clomid and then Letrozole) I have triggered around CD 22.
You will probably have IUI on Monday (if that's what you are doing). If you are do TI, I would start Sunday.

@amos1417 you sound like you are in a perfect position. By Triggering tomorrow, you will likely have that follow at a 19/20. I have really positive thoughts for you!

@Whiggrrl65 - No, I don't have PCOS. I'm not on any meds this cycle, though my cycles do tend to fluctuate between 28 and 32 days so maybe this is just a longer one. I'm hoping you're right and my IUI will be Monday. FX!

  • @ErikaMG during my first Clomid cycle, my follies took along time to grow. I think my IUI was on CD 22. This month, and a higher dose of Clomid, my IUI was on cd 16. I think it varies depending on the fertility drugs your taking.

Good luck to everyone. I'm 1dpiui. Hopefully the 2ww will go fast!

Thanks @Rachd110 - I'm not taking any drugs this cycle, so that might be why it's taking a little longer for my follies to mature. Just heard from doc and I'm going in for more blood and US tomorrow morning. She probably wants to determine whether I should trigger over the weekend or wait till Monday...

Here's to a fast and easy 2ww for you! :)

@ErikaMG Honestly, what is normal? lol None of us are "normal" or we wouldn't be here. Lol I wouldn't know what a good growth rate is though because I wasn't even growing follicles and releasing eggs without drugs. Mine took their sweet time growing though. I was on meds for 14 days before I was instructed to trigger.

@mummysmomma I hope you'll get to trigger soon! FX

  • @Msbender129 of course you can join.  I feel like I might waste a few POAS this month because I have no beta scheduled.  RE wants me to call when the POAS says BFP, so I fee like I will definitely be a little crazy this month with the HPT.  At least if I do have symptoms though, it won't be any meds to confuse my mind.

But then I get so mad when I do it and it's a BFN but then annoyed when I don't- it's a vicious cycle of craziness!! Ugh! This month I'm going to do my absolute best to wait! I've wasted a lot lately and I'm so sick of starting at STARK WHITE pregnancy tests!
My RE doesn't do betas unless POAS Is positive either... But I did my trigger shot tonight and go for IUI Saturday morning... Eek! Then the longest 2 weeks of my life start.... I'm going to need to start a fall Pinterest project for my house to keep me busy!
  • OPK was positive tonight!! I finally feel like the stars are aligning for this cycle. I have IUI tomorrow and Saturday! I'll be joining the 2ww with you ladies!

I feel like no matter what I go crazy. If I POAS I go crazy when it's negative, if I don't I go crazy wondering if I should. It's a vicious cycle!

This time will also be super exciting because my sister will be visiting from Florida. We are super close. I can't wait!! The 2ww hasn't even started yet and I want to push fast forward!!

Good luck and sticky baby dust!!
