Re: It's the baby name thread

  • I like Lucy Eleanor. I think if you use Eleanor as a first name, everyone will want to call her Ellie and that name is super popular right now. Which isn't necessarily bad, I just tend to prefer less used names, and I don't see many Lucy's but love it.

For boy, Oliver Tate hands down. It has a great ring to it. Second would be Lane, but definitely not Zane.

  • Alright people who love names....
I have a dd Lyla dare (dare is a family name) love strong southern names that aren't super common but aren't made up. This one is a boy and we are pretty set on the middle name Robert (again, family name) but are a mess with the first.....
Hudson, Harvey, Rhett, Raylan, and Amos are the short list. Last name is very long so we don't want more than 2 syllables. I've looked online so much for more inspiration everything sounds the same.... Thoughts on our short list or new ideas?! Help!!!!!!

  • We are planning on naming our son Johnny Matthew. Johnny is my husband's brother's first name and their father's middle name - it is not a nickname, that is what is on their birth certificates. What do you think of the name? We want to call him Johnny no matter what but do you think it is better to put Jonathan on his birth certificate?

Thank you for your feedback :)
  • I would definitely put John or Jonathan. You can always call him Johnny, but at some point he may want another option. He can always go by Johnny as Jonathan, but would never be able to put Johnathan or John on a business card, for example if his legal name was Johnny... Sometimes you just need a more formal option, so I think going with the full name instead of just the nickname is always best. More choices.

    Definitely Jonathan.
  • Having baby boy #3 Oct 19th! Me and the Hubby are stuck on what we should name him. Why is it so hard this time around? Our other 2 boys' names are Eli James, and Liam Ryder. We are currently considering Luke Sterling, Lincoln Rhys, Colton Rhys or Greyson Louis. Our last name is Smith.
  • @JT12345 I have an Uncle Johnny. ..that's what's on his birth certificate. .. as an adult he goes by John.

I love the name Hazel Mae. Very classic.
  • Any opinions on Juliette,Natalie or Charlotte?
We already have a Lillian(lily) and Sadie and can't decide on baby girl number 3's name.

I love all your names and think we have a similar style! I love luke sterling but also love the name greyson and think maybe that one sounds better in your sibset. Boys are hard IMO.

Love charlotte. It was my fave for dd1 but when she was born it just didn't fit her so we went another route. I love it with your other names too, so classic.

  • I'm so irritated with my husband!! Ever since we found out the gender (boy btw) we decided to name him after his dad, Gerald Hugh III. Actually my husband decided this. I compromised and with the help of some fellow bumpies I decided to use the nickname Trace. I have called my baby this since I was 23 weeks. Now at 35 weeks my husband gives me a piece of paper with a german name I can't pronounce and do not like. He says he decided he didn't want to name the baby after him after all. I told him I didn't like the name and that the baby was already Trace to me. He wants to name the baby something biblical or traditionally ethnic wtf that means. I'm pissed! I'm not backing down because when I talk to my baby (I'm not crazy) I use his name, Trace. All of our friends already call him Trace. Any advice on how I can try to explain to my husband why this is important to me without causing an unnecessary fight??
