Outed!

Re: Outed!

  • I'm a competitive athlete, and my team recently competed in national championship race that crosses open ocean from Newport CA to Catalina Island. My team got second unfortunately, but to show good sportsmanship we met the winning team for drinks before the awards ceremony. I know a few girls on the other team, one of which is one of my best friends. I was 4 weeks, and I hadn't told anyone other than my husband at this point. I had asked the waitress on the side to bring me a soda and cran.. And I thought she got it, but when she brought out my drink it was in a plastic glass. These glasses are designated as non alcoholic drinks. People definitely gave me a look. I just said I was still dehydrated from the race and would grab a beer in a bit. My husband tried to make up for it and brought me a drink from the bar, but nothing screams virgin beverage like a strawberry daiquiri, which is what he brought me. A bit later my BF pulled me to the side and asked if I was pregnant. I couldn't lie to her at that point.
The next morning I saw her before the second phase race and she said ALL the girls were chattering about it. I devoted the next few days posting on face book pictures of me with recovery beers, cheersing to the end of the season, and anything I could post to deter rumors.
Not sure if it worked yet. I have a meeting with my teammates in a few weeks...

  • That's it! You're uninvited! You've never been to a vow renewal? That's just a pomp and circumstance party where someone REPEATS something they already did to celebrate their love. And ppl usually get them gifts. AGAIN. I pity you if that's how you think REAL family acts.
Can I come? I love any wedding where there's cake, regardless of first, second, "real"...whatevs. To each his/her own. Congratulations on the baby AND the marriage. :-)

  • I went to a wedding recently and the bride handed me a glass of wine. It was two days after my BFP so I ditched it and begged DH to drink a few beers so I could claim to be the DD, but he wasn't feeling well and didn't want to play along. Bride approached me and said, "why aren't you drinking...OH.MY.GOD." I just smirked - there's no point in denying when you know you've been had. I did ask her to be discrete since we're not telling anyone just yet. Busted!

  • I told my boss! Which happens to be my best friend as well!!! It worked out well until I was texting my boss ( about pregnancy related things) and was intermittently texting another coworker about work related stuff and accidentally sent the coworker the message I typed out for my boss! Oopppssssss oh well! I obviously had to admit it and swear her to secrecy!!

  • So, funny outing story from my last pregnancy...

I was working at summer training program on a college campus, so pretty close quarters with everyone.  One of our interns saw me puking in a trashcan, and apparently told one of my good friends on staff, "I think we really need to say something, she's sick and she's working too hard..."  My friend, who knew that we were planning to try to get pregnant, kind of paused and said, "Yeah, I think she's...probably fine."  Then she asked me if I was pregnant and when I confessed, she told me the story.  :)

No one has ASKED so far this pregnancy, but I'm pretty sure my SIL noticed at my niece's birthday last week, when I was guzzling milk and ginger ale.  She's too polite to say anything, though.

I'm not outed to family, but my DH outed it to our DD this morning! UGH! I was planning on getting her a big sister shirt and book to mark the occasion of telling her after we heard the heartbeat around 10-12 weeks, but my dang husband just flat out told her. He said, "So what do you think of mommy being pregnant?" She then said, "WHAT!? You've got a baby in your belly?!? Let me see!" *Facepalm* Unfortunately I've got a five year old that knows exactly what being pregnant means....
