  • @on_the_move I would ask your doctor next time you see him. I've heard that a lot of women don't even notice losing it, just assume it's normal discharge. I honestly don't know as this is my first pregnancy and I've been watching for mine as well.

I do know that they say that losing your mucus plug could mean that labor is in a couple of hours or a couple of weeks. And you're right, it can come back. I'm mostly paying attention to how much I'm dilated and the position of the baby. To me that's a better indication that labor could be close.
  • I know that losing your mucus plug isn't a sign of labor since it can regenerate, but this seems like the best place to put this. So for the past month of so I've been having large clumps of mucus when I wipe.  You would think that this being my third I would know what a mucus plug looks like, but I never remember noticing losing it.  Last week when I had my cervical check I was only 1cm and 25% effaced, but the doctor said he could feel baby's head. My question is if the doctor could feel the head does that mean my mucus plug is gone?

No. They can feel through the mess. Losing chunks means you're dilating slowly. But every little thing is a step forward.

  • I'm 38 weeks. So Saturday early morning at like 3am I had some pain in my hips and back. I started getting contractions about 20 to 30 minutes after I got up but with no pain, just my belly getting tight. Around 4am I started getting pain, well I waited until almost 8am to go in. I was checked and only at a 2, I was sent home because I have to be a 5 to be admitted. But my contractions stopped soon after 12 in the afternoon. :/ But I have been having contractions since then, they really aren't painful though. And this morning I woke up with the same back pain. And I have been having very very mild contractions. I don't understand this!! Haha With my first I was induced so I really dont what it would feel like to actually go into labor.lol
  • My belly button seems to have "moved" according to my DH lol. I realize this is not a labor symptom but it's funny bc DH is now in what I call his nesting mode lol he is convinced baby will be here soon.
He has FINALLY put together the last of the baby equipment and cleared out the rest of his stuff from the baby's room.
As far as labor symptoms I have been having more frequent contractions but nothing to get excited about. Oh and my MS is back with a vengeance.
  • It seems like my lightning crotch has spread out to add the insides of my thighs/hips and my booty. Anyone else? Definitely not comfy!

Yes I'm getting jolts in my inner thighs. I thought maybe the baby was hitting nerves.

I haven't had "lightning crotch" exactly but I've noticed my inner thigh muscles have joined the cramping party. Along with my glutes.

Yep, pretty much like that. It's not too awful, but sometimes catches me off guard.
  • 37 wk appt today. 1.5cm dilated 50% effaced -3 station but head is now resting on cervix. Also lost 3lbs.

Last pregnancy, I wasn't dilated or effaced much and she was way up when my water broke. I had lost 5lbs at the appt four days before I went into labor and the nurse told me that was an indicator that I could go into labor before my next appt. Sure enough, that was a Friday and my water broke early that Monday morning.

Interested to see how this one will go.
  • I'm so ready for my appt on thurs. I've been given 2 due dates...the 2nd and 6th. Last Wednesday I was 1cm 50% -2. I cannot wait to see what I am this week. Just got through scrubbing all our wooden floors the old school way.....hot water and vinegar on Hands and knees. They are super shiny with no residue and I am sooooo ready for baby. I keep doing crazy cleaning stuff to help pass the time. Oh and I'm still working both jobs.....come on Baby P!!!
  • I'm only 1cm as of today and 50%  doctor was talking like she thinks I may have a big baby because I'm measuring at 40 weeks already and wants to do another ultrasound for growth...I don't really want to do another ultrasound.  The next time I want to see baby is in person!! Does measuring a week ahead of schedule mean your baby will be super big??  I'll be 39 weeks on Thursday.

  • I can feel baby on my cervix..and on my 38 week ultrasound my ob said he could see shedded vernix in the amniotic fluid. Anyone else heard of this being an indication of labour?

Today I feel really shitty...really fatigued..I want baby out

Has anyone else been having super pesky fevers? Like, nearly daily? Trying to deduce as best I can whether it's the result of sleep deprivation or because things are starting to change. I'm talking mild fevers, my base temp even through pregnancy is lower at 96.9 deg and I'll register anywhere between 98 and 99 deg for half a day and feel like crap then all of a sudden have that sensation that a fever has broken and be back down to 96.9. Just curious if anyone has had shared experiences.
  • 37 weeks today...and while I have been feeling pretty crappy, I feel extra crappy today. Lower back pain and the pressure on my pubic bone is constant, I can't get comfortable in any position. Had my first NST last week and there was a contraction, but I didn't feel it. So whether I've been getting BH or not, I don't really know. Today just feels 'different.' I hope this isn't a sign...I'm not ready yet!! Plus, I am in Philadelphia, and if you are anywhere in the NE you are well aware of the "Popepocalypse" going on right now (lol). If I have this baby before Monday, big problems!! Please stay inside, little one! :)

No. I always measured big, and my girls were 8 lbs and 7 11. Right now I am 34 and she measured me at 40, which was up from 35 last week! But I am pretty sure dude is only weighing around 5 lbs right now.

  • I read this article today and thought I would share. It lists some of the symptoms that might happen days/weeks before labor starts. Good clarifications for me as FTM.
  • I'm 38 wks had my appt today I'm at 2cm been stuck there for a couple of weeks. When I was getting ready For it I started getting mad contractions! Had them at office she said I'm at 2cm and wants to go home rather then go to hospital . I have chills and shaking....I cannot stand up for sh*t! Omg I forgot until now how they feel. I hope this is the real deal!
  • I am 37+5 and my cervix is still closed but at least now it is 50% effaced - better than last week. I have my induction scheduled for 10/4 and I'm really hoping for some cervical change because then the induction is more likely to be successful. I have my final office visit next Wednesday - it is getting so close!
  • I am 38 weeks and it's very hard to breathe, like something heavy is weighing on my chest and I'm having horrible back pains but no contractions... Anyone else experience this? Should I be concerned? As of last Thursday I was not dilated or making any progress.
  • My first labor began with general back pain which turned out to be back labor. Just keep an eye on it. If it combines with cramps or diarrhea, call your Dr.

Last night, I had terrible indigestion and irregular contractions. Was up from 1-4am. Fun times! These type of contractions are a big B lol

I was measuring 36 weeks at 39 weeks and had a 10 lb baby yesterday, so not always. Was she going off fundal height?
  • I'm 38 weeks today! I've had symptoms on and off for about a week. I'm pretty sure I lost my plug early last week. Ever since then the BH contractions have been increasing. Today I feel like I have one every 15 min but they don't hurt at all. My bowels are a little wacky. And I'm not sure what it is but my ribs on the right side have never been in so much pain. The skin is painful to touch and is kind of numb sometimes. It's like a burning sensation too. I'm just praying I can make it through this rib pain. Military hospital doesn't induce so I'm hoping my LO comes on her own. Preferably before my due date!
  • I'm so tired of feeling crappy all the time
  • I did some light grocery shopping today and felt a pressure or weight on my lower bits with every step. It does not appear that the baby has dropped but maybe it has. Lots of naps and some mild cramping. Will be curious to see if I have progressed any at tomorrow's doctor appt. Last time was 0%. 37 weeks on Saturday.
  • Anyone else having diarrhea? I've had it since Sunday and I'm 37 weeks but I really think I'm 38 weeks as my original due date was oct. 8. I've had some BH contractions and some real ones but nothing regular. Def have had increase in discharge and tonight it was a little brownish. The diarrhea for almost a week is so annoying though.

  • Has anyone else been having some intense contractions that start and stop through out the day? They feel so much more intense than BH, and one even put me into tears yesterday. I had 4 that were 20 mins apart, intense for about 1 minute. My coworkers just told me to go home, since I had a couple in the morning in that left me feeling crappy. I went home and took a bath but that didn't help, which it usually does with BH. Nurse said that labor could start and stop at any time, sometimes due to stress (I work full time, go to school full time and we just found out my fiancé's grandfather passed away, so yes, a lot going on). I still feel awful and had a couple thru the night that woke me up. Am I alone? I feel bad leaving work for that yesterday! I am 38 weeks tomorrow.

No, you are not alone! I had so many of these strong contractions a few days ago (plus vomiting and diarrhea) that I went to the hospital thinking I was in labor (they were frequent and strong for several hours). While I was at the hospital everything slowly stopped and eventually I was told to go home :( Since then it's like you said...strong contractions every once in a while interspersed with the BHs. Apparently it's normal :-/

I also feel bad because my dr told me to start working from home this week, which I am doing but now that I feel this baby might be in there forever (after the false alarm the other day), I feel like a slacker! I'll be 38 weeks on Sunday, FYI.

So anyway...just wanted to say I feel you :) We can do it! Apparently it's not like the movies where nothin is going on and then all of a sudden you get strong contractions and it gets to be more and more and then water breaks and then BOOM! Baby! :( Seems more of a roller coaster than anything else...I keep trying to focus on the goal- healthy baby whenever SHE is ready to come....

Not quite diarrhea but stools are definitely loose!
  • I've had diarrhea for about a week or so. It's very annoying.

Has anybody felt like they were spaced out/in a daze/drugged. This happened to me last night while I was in a breastfeeding class. I was having a hard time focusing and I just felt spacey! It's a little hard to explain. At first I thought that I hadn't eaten enough or drank enough water. But then I read last night that it could be due to hormonal changes before labor. Just wanted to know if anybody has experienced anything like this?

Yes I know what you mean! Usually it's during a BH, I get really lightheaded and my body goes kind of numb.

I've had this too. Since it has gone away with rest, etc, I think it's just exhaustion and hormones. No fun.

Yes! Almost like super spaced out and a bit disconnected? Its hard to explain! You feel like you might faint, but in your mind you know that you won't. At first I thought it was maybe low blood sugar but I noticed that it'll happen even after I eat. I was told at my last appointment that I have low blood pressure. My doctor wasn't too concerned though. She said to try eating more salt haha. I'm hoping that its a sign things are happening!

Thank goodness! Thank you for the insight on what your doc told you too. The nurse told me to sit on all fours for 20 minutes to see if it helps the back pain. He could be facing the wrong way and causing more intense BH. On top of the intense pain, then you have to deal with the emotions of actually not being in labor. It's not easy, because as much as it hurts you get so excited. But, we only have 2 weeks left! Our little ones will be here soon!

Can being a rageing hormonal b**** be a symptom of labor? Lol! I'm 39 weeks today and all of a sudden I'm sooo moody and irritated it makes me want to cry! I would love to shut out the world, crawl I bed with a snack until baby comes. Totally not like me to be so quick to get fired up and pissy. Anyone else extremely irritable?
oooh yes i am 39 weeks also and feel like crying today so badly, i already teared up and told my husband that i felt like he wasn't supporting me (for no reason and it's totally not true)! on top of that i am constipated again, haven't been in months. grrrrr.
