rant... I can't even

So... in line with recent shenanigans on N15 in regards to drive-bys:
A girl I'm "friends" with on facebook just posted "how much tylenol can I give my 9 month old. I can't remember?"

Uh... 1. It's probably listed on the box
2. You could call your doctor.
3. You could Google it.

I can't handle shit like this anymore.
Ughhhh. I wish I knew why this bothered me so much.

  • On a swap and buy group on Facebook there are women constantly asking medical advice and every time I want to comment ASK YOUR DOCTOR!! But the groups admins are cranky and block you for the littlest things so I just shut my mouth
  • Yep, what @katiedhunter said. It's literally on the bottle by age and weight. So if that question popped up on my news feed I'd probably ask if said friend was blind.

Now you have me thinking I am crazy, because I remember having to Google this for DS. I am checking the Tylonal bottle when I get home. I would of bet money it was not there.

My bottle of Tylenol Extra Strength. I've got a bottle of generic Tylenol with pretty much the same info.

Eta: My doc had ok'd regular Tylenol for my kids so we don't keep children's Tylenol in the house anymore. I should probably pick some up.
If there's something strange underneath the hood.  Who you gonna call?  Your Doctor.  If there's something weird and it don't look good.  Who you gonna call?  Your Doctor.  Immediately.  If it's new, painful, and possibly pregnancy related get your ass off the internet and call your doctor.  It's for your health and your child's.

In the US there is no dosing on the bottle or box for under 2 or under 24 pounds. (I really thought I was losing it)
    Edit, this is infant Tylenol

Funny how different it can be for different countries. This is ours. Infant Tylenol as well.

  • So weird that they're so different... but a quick Google search gave me more info than I could ever expect from facebook...
  • @katiedhunter
I think the stengths are different also, a few years ago infant Tylenol in the US changed from 80mg/5ml to 160mg/5ml. Our dose (per google) for 12 -17 pounds is 2.5ml, over double yours. Who knew if I drove 12 hours I would have to figure out Tylenol all over again.

Very true, which is why you (general you) should educate yourself and not ask FB or Internet strangers. Which was your original point :)
I just wanted to point out it was not on the bottle, because that is not something you want to learn for the first time when your LO is in pain waiting for Tylenol.

I'm in the U.S. and also have a box/bottle of infant Tylenol with no dosage instructions for LOs under 2. DS's pediatrician flat out said they want parents checking in with a doctor before administering a dose since it is so dependent on weight and reason (they don't want parents thinking it's just a fever and not something worse). That said, she gave me the conversion chart anyway since she knows I'm not the type to not go nuts with Tylenol anyway.

I knew my bottles didn't tell either and the dosing looked way different to me. How odd. My DD2 is 22lbs and on the 3.75 ml. I check with Dr every well check up. Now I am really curious the strength difference.

    Our strength is 80mg/1mL.
