Rowan for a boy?

    There's a great thread on Rowan called "Has Rowan Gone to the Girls?" What it pretty much came down to was its about 2/3 male 1/3 female and it's pretty well liked around here.

    Well, it is a masculine name, so I think it's just fine for a boy.

    Rowan was my alternate favorite if we didn't end up using what we chose for LO. I found it very frustrating that people were giving it to girls, but I was prepared to use it for my boy anyway if DH didn't like my first choice. He eventually came around on my choice name so we ended up not using Rowan, but I think its a boy's name, and a cool one. Go for it

    Interesting. I have only seen girls named Rowan, most famous is the girl on Girl Meets World.I don't mind it but I thinks it's more girly.

    It was traditionally a boys name, which is how we got Rowan Attkinson (mr. Bean) it has gained in popularity amongst the girls but I still know plenty that are boys

    Traditionally a masculine name and I think it should stay that way! Love it for a boy, not a fan for a girl!

    It's a masculine name. If you are worried, what about Ronan? FWIW I like Rowan better, and would assume boy if I saw it written.
