Need opinions on a girl name

We are due in about 3 weeks with our first little one and are Team Green. I thought we had our girl name decided since the beginning(almost two years ago thanks to infertility) but have been second-guessing it the past two months or so. Our original girl name was going to be Eloise Hope and our backup was Phoebe Hope. Now we are going back and forth between Phoebe and Eloise, but don't want to seek opinions from anyone that will know the baby.

So, any opinions? Our last name is very German-sounding (starts with a B, ends in "-hoff". My first name is Allie, so if we went with Eloise and chose a nickname, it wouldn't be Ellie; if anything we've considered Elsie but would prefer her to just go by Eloise (but we'll see how that goes). Thanks in advance for any insight!

These are two of my favorites. I lean toward Phoebe because it's less popular, but both are great:)

ETA: when I told my mom that I liked Eloise, she said, "aren't you worried people will call her wheezy??" I think that put a damper on my love for a while. Might be why I prefer Phoebe.

I prefer Phoebe! Eloise seems to be gaining in popularity. Phoebe is different, yet recognizable and easy to spell. It's on our short list for a potential next girl, but it may be too much with our DD (Piper)

I love Eloise and considered it for my current LO, but her dad isn't a fan. We are naming her Ella, which I think could be a nn for Eloise. I think you should go for it!

I love both, but Eloise is my favorite. I'd especially do Eloise if you have a shorter last name but Phoebe if your last name is really long.

I vote for Eloise! I've always liked that name but can't use it since it's too close to my name. Phoebe is nice too, but I prefer Eloise.

I like Eloise, tutored one who went by Ella and she was adorable.

Phoebe will always remind me of Friends, so take that as you will. If you go with it her initials would be PB, which could be a cute little nickname

Between the two I like Eloise.

And just my experience, but what you call your kid is what most people will call them and what they will (most likely) prefer. We've always used our kids full names and that's what everyone else calls them and what they insist on being called. It may change as they get older but we've recently tried to explain to ds2 that he can go by Andy or Drew and he wants nothing to do with any nicknames.

I vote Phoebe. I've seen a ton of people choosing the name Eloise and I can't say it does anything for me. Have you thought about Ellise?

I like both but prefer phoebe. I kinda think Eloise with 3 syllables is a bit much for a little kid, and Ellie is overdone as a nn (and it would be confusing with you being Allie). But honestly they are both good choices so go with your gut! And you can wait until you meet her. I don't believe newborns "look" like their name, but you may just get a gut feeling

I love Phoebe! I would have it on my list except that my uncle once had an annoying dog named Phoebe. My name is Alli and I've rejected names beginning in El- for the same reason.

Phoebe!! It's spunky, fun and different. There a bazillion Ellie's, Ella's, El's, etc.

Love both, but Eloise tends to fit in to the "Ellie/Ella/Emma" trend, which I dislike. A lot of times you won't have control of the nicknames they get other places than home. Phoebe is adorable and underused in my opinion. I would use Phee as a nickname. You can always go in with both names and choose which one feels right after she's here. That's our plan
