to tell the kids or to not tell the kids???

Im newly married and my husband has 2 kids from a previous marriage. We are going to start ttc very soon, I want to talk to the kids before hand and ask them if they are ok with it but am also afraid they will say no. Then we would still try either way. Wanted to get other blended families advice as to whether or not you told the kids or asked the kids their opinions before getting pregnant.

I agree with the "what if they say no" part because at the end of the day, you are still going for it. So instead of asking them, just tell them and talk to them. Of course, allow them to speak on their opinions and feelings but still let them know that it is something you two are going for. We didn't ask our kids but we did talk to them to let them know what to expect and we were all just very honest. Good luck!! - Loading the player...

^^This. If you have no intention of taking their opinion into account, then I wouldn't suggest asking for it. Children should not be making family decisions for adults. Plus, if you ask, they say no, and you do it anyway, you've just seriously blown off their feelings, which is pretty hurtful.
Let them know after you're pregnant.
