Pain on right side under ribs

I've been having cramps (pretty severe) on my right side right under my ribs. It happened a few time yesterday getting more frequent the farther into the evening I got. And this morning it has already happened quite a few times. Once around 7:20, and again at 7:47, 8:04, 8:17, 8:31, and 8:36.  My back has been hurting pretty consistently since yesterday. Is this normal or should I be worried?

Re: Pain on right side under ribs

  • I've been having it on my left side - I am assuming it's normal, I had this last time but it was closer to the end of pregnancy when my son's feet were up under my ribs, so I know that can't be it yet. Have you invested in any new bras, weird question but that is something I need to do and I think it will help a bit.

  • I haven't gotten a new bra, as my size hasn't changed too much. The bra I was wearing before I got pregnant was a cup size too big so it fits pretty good.
The pain is really sharp pain. Lasts for a few seconds then goes away. It was pretty consistently coming about every 15 minutes around 8am. Then starting around 8:30, it started coming more like every 5-8 minutes. And now I'm feeling achy and sore in between the pains. And lower down I'm starting to get the feeling of dull achy period cramps.
I called the doctors office and the nurse is supposed to call me back to see if I need to come in.
  • Yes, my cup size hasn't really changed but I definitely need a wider band - my ribs expanded quite a bit last time too but not my cup size. Good idea on calling the Dr., always the best bet if you're worried.

  • Thank you for your help. I really appreciate it. I am a FTM so everything is so scary to me. lol
  • Are you usually sitting with this occurs? I've noticed if I sit too long I get aches/cramps on the left side right under the breast, I'm assuming it's from my posture. Just gives me an excuse to walk away from my desk and get some air.

  • Severe is hard to interpret online. I say when in doubt, call your doctor.
  • I had this and talked to my dr yesterday. She said it was my gallbladder, which I actually have removed years ago. It is basically phantom pains from that. Usually triggered my greasy foods. So that could possibly be the problem. Hope you get to feeling better soon!

It could be from all the stretching. Maybe an irritated ligament. I've been having a similar pain all day but in my lower right side. If it keeps up or you're concerned, be sure to call your doctor! ETA: Feel better soon!
