I'm 38 weeks tomorrow and for the past 3 days have had the worst cramps in my abdomen & back (I literally thought I was in labor) went to the doctor, they put me on the monitor and it's just an irritable uterus (?) Whatever that is. I'm a first time mom and due on 10|02. My doctor said I could be induced next week if I wanted to because of this and since I'm not dilated or effaced at all. Has anybody else been in this situation. I don't want to be induced just because of my pain but it is really painful, and non stop. Thanks in advance!!
Hrm..yes, I was having this as well. Bad cramps and it turned out I had a UTI..have you been checked for that? I've been on antibiotics and feel much better now. Also my doc said I was dehydrated which can cause an irritable uterus. I wouldn't induce if you don't have too. It can lead to other complications, let nature take its course.
He hasn't checked me for a UTI, or dehydration which I find odd. I don't want to have to constantly ask my doctor to check me for things I feel that he should check me himself when I come into his office telling him these things. I don't have any pain or discomfort while urinating so I don't think I have a UTI but still, would be smart for him to check me. Thanks !
Ya, I would ask him. I didn't have any discomfort while urinating either but you could still have one. I was surprised when she told me I had one. Good luck!
I was diagnosed with irritable uterus at 36 weeks, any type of irritation make me have painful contractions, sitting down, standing up, emptying my bladder, having a full bladder, you name it, it makes me contract. But I haven't had constant pain because of it, the additional constant pain i'm experiencing is due to horrible SPD. Do you give a urine sample at every visit? That is usually what all offices do due to being at higher risk of getting a UTI. If you have given samples and they haven't said anything, it's because you are clear. If not, ask them for a UA. And definitely try not to induce, I've had horrible pain since late June, but trying to stick it out. Induction highers your chances of a C-section. Good luck!
Hmmm...on baby 4 here, have had an irritable uterus since baby 1.Each baby the irritability has started sooner.I didn't know that was a reason for induction.I have just always dealt with it.Honestly if your body isn't actually showing signs of real labor,I wouldn't get induced.
I would NOT choose to be induced ever again. I had to with my first pregnancy and was not dilated or effaced. To put it lightly, it wasn't a good experience.
I have weekly NST's and we have noticed that if I am thirsty at all the contraction line will start to have more variability. That being said I get dehydrated very fast since becoming pregnant. I would try some Gatorade in addition to water to rule out dehydration.
I've been to l&d twice because of contractions turns out they were mixed with the irritability contractions & I was dilating any further... However, it's our 3rd and my dr said I kinda just have to deal with it until baby comes. I'm 37 weeks 2 days, we had our last at 37 weeks 3 days... And this one is just comfortable in there but causing me discomfort lol good luck! I know it is not fun!!!
You have to take control of your own health care these days. I work in the health field and if you are wondering about uTI or dehydration just ask the doctor. He's not God, just a doctor and the fact that he isn't checking is an issue
