Re: Baby Shower Games!

  • We did an obstacle course!! We had to strap a baby into a stroller and take them to a table and change their diaper and their outfit an then run around the hostesses house and then in strap the baby and give the baby to the next person.. We also did the apple sauce game where you blind fold people after you pair them into groups of two and have them feed each other apple sauce.. It was so much fun!

  • I like the game where little baby figures are frozen in ice cubes and as guests come they take one and put it in their drink. Throughout the shower if someone's baby completely thaws from the ice, they have to yell "my water broke!" The first person to do that wins a prize. On a side note I think it's hilarious when "your" grandma wins, it's funny hearing her yell out that her water broke lol.
  • My family has co-ed baby showers and we play a drinking game every time. Fill baby bottles with beer and set a bunch of guys in a row to see who finishes first. We've done mixed drinks for girls before but usually it's a guy game. We've also done a speed diaper changing game with a melted chocolate bar on a doll.
  • Match the ridiculous celebrity baby name to the celebrity. :)
  • It's kind of a game, but filling out cards guessing the baby's name (of unknown), sex (again if unknown), date of birth, hair color, eye color, weight, length and what trait from each mom and dad they would like the baby to have. You could add more or less, but reading the cards over later is hysterical and so fun! I'm sure there is more you could add of you would like, but that one is fun. It will also be fun to see if anyone guessed correctly!
  • Have guests cut a string of yarn to guess the length of the mother to be's bump. Closest guess wins. Easy and not annoying. :)

Yes guessing how fat I am sounds like loads of fun! /sarcasm
I vote no games! Just extra food, drinks and time to socialize!
I vote no games too, but I knew I had to cave. As long as they aren't too involved games I guess I can suck it up! But I def do not like the guess how long of a string or roll of TP will fit around my bump game. No need to make me feel like I look bigger than I already am!
  • Fill a bowl with cotton balls and a big cooking spoon. Have the guest close their eyes and hold a paper plate on top of their head with one hand. Then try and scoop as many balls out of the bowl and onto their paper plate as possible. It's hilarious because most people scoop as slow as possible being very careful and have nothing on their spoon lol. Most balls win! !

Yeah really. Yikes, I can't believe this is still a "fun" game. Don't do this unless you're 100% sure the mom to be is okay with it. Actually, nevermind, just don't do this period.
We just did things like "Guess how many m&m's are in the bottle" and then my MIL read a story about a birth that used the words "Right" and "Left" a lot. As the story was read, a gift was passed right and left and the person holding the gift at the end of the story got to keep it. I'm also a fan of shower bingo if you want to engage people during gift opening. There are templates online, you mark off a square every time the mom opens the matching gift, ie: bottles, stroller, feeding supplies, etc.
  • Well I guess I don't really think of my bump as "fat", there is a baby growing in there. And I won this game at my best friend's shower. As a guest, it was a short and sweet game with minimal involvement that I enjoyed. This weekend is my baby shower and my sister planned a diaper raffle, just bring diapers to win a prize. Also, a onsie decorating contest, I pick the one I like best and the designer wins a prize. So not exactly "games" but I'm totally not complaining.

  • We got baby clothespins and gave them to each guy and girl. For girls: whoever crossed their legs lost theirs. For guys: whoever placed their hands in their pockets lost theirs. At the end, whoever ended up with most clothespins wins.

So if I wear a dress or skirt I get to pull a Basic Instinct moment?
    I'll pass....
  • Not a huge games fan at my family shower they did gifts bingo, remember what was in a gift basket memory game, the baby pin game where you take someone's pin if they say "baby" the most left wins. At my friend shower everyone was asked to write some advice for me in a journal that was passed around. None of those were terrible. My only request was no guess my size games.

Fair point, sometimes I forget guest entertainment trumps comfort and enjoyment of the pregnant guest of honor.

We did that but if you said a certain word you lost them.. They chose my name and it was the funniest word to choose!! I went to a shower where it was the word baby!! Name was funnier!!
  • My shower was this past Saturday. We did:
    1) Bingo (everyone gets a blank bingo card and fills it with items they thought I would receive as gifts. As I opened gifts, people would check off any items that matched on their board until someone got bingo. They had prizes for the first 3 to call bingo)
    2) Guess Who?? (There were a list of statements that were true about either - the Mom to be, Dad to be, or both and guest had to circle which they thought it was true about. Example - "walked on day of first birthday" "Ate corn on the cob at 9 months" "born 2 weeks after due date" "weighed 7.7". Whoever got the most correct won a prize)
    3) Guess How Many? (A jar filled with soft mints and guest had to guess how many were in the jar - winner won a prize)

I am not a game person so I asked that all games be things that people could do on their own time and time would have to only be taken away to reveal the winners. Everyone loved the games!!!

  • I really don't think people enjoy the games. I know I never have. Everyone I've told that we aren't having games reveal that they are SO happy we're skipping them. We have an activity planned and then just relying on good company and conversation.
  • We did gift bingo at mine on cute preprinted sheets and the guests really liked it. Gift opening is the most boring part of a shower for guests so any game like bingo that can be played during it is great IMO.

They also did the guess the size of the bump with tape thing and it was super embarrassing, but also kind of funny because my really old grandma guessed ridiculously HUGE size and the tape fit around me and 2 other people, haha.
  • Amen sister! A bump is beautiful. For me, I'm not into the game only because I am such an introvert and am trying to find games that take people's eyes off of me, so I can understand that. But bump does not equal fat. That's a small human's house. If it's large, just means you're giving your kid a mansion!!
