I am freaking out now! I am already scared to give birth and now this! And STMs out there that have good stories about GBS+ delivery??? I could really use the positive vibes!!!
Im gbs+ and ftm too. It really doesn't seem like much of a big deal, we'll just get antibiotics during labor a little scary but before I got pregnant I've never even heard of gbs as a pregnancy/baby complication. I've never even heard of it at all so I don't think it's something people are usually affected by
Exactly. This one's not a huge deal. The worst part is dealing with the IV if you weren't planning on having one. But you just have to get a dose of antibiotic every few hours while you are in labor. In most cases since you would already have an IV, it doesn't really make a huge difference. This is a really common thing that people have and even without antibiotics, the baby would likely be fine, but the antibiotics are just to make sure 100% that everything's ok.
Me too, and I was really freaked because I want a natural birth and thought this may ruin it. But nothing much has to change, just make sure you don't wait too long after your water breaks (if it does) before getting antibiotics.
If you are like me and would prefer to try and get rid of the bacteria before labor just to be safe, there are some things you can do. I'm drinking a shot of Bragg's apple cider vinegar every day and taking sitz baths with it dulited, eating coconut oil and garlic, taking a good probiotic and vitamin C, and I bought hibiclens (hospital grade antibacterial wash) to use when I go into labor before I leave for the hospital. Lots of moms have cleared it with this type of protocol, and even more intense stuff like putting garlic up your hooha, but I'm not going that far. Now, you don't have to do ANY of this and baby will probably be just fine. I'm just a little crazy
I actually only found out I had this when I went to hospital to get checked after my waters broke. They just put me on antibiotics during labour and then monitored baby for 24 hours before I was allowed home
I just had my 6th baby and the first time I ever tested +. I just received antibiotics during labor and they watched baby for 48 hours and everything was fine. I was freaked but it all worked out ok.
Re: Need positive vibes!! 38 weeks 4 days -- tested positive for Group B Strep!!! Advice?!?!
