Re: How to deal with annoying pregnancy skin issues

  • Apparently turmeric is an amazing healing property for stretch marks and skin irritations - buy organic and blend with coconut oil, yoghurt, vitamin E oil, pure almond, aloe and jojob cream and cocao or Shea butter. I'm yet to try it myself but ladies have said it works wonders even for clearing up keratosis pilaris (aka chicken skin) :)

  • African Black Soap at Ulta has helped with my facial acne. One of the consultant there swore by it- and its super cheap for a bar! Otherwise I just use BioOil and Organix brand lotion-- does wonders. :)
  • I posted this somewhere else too, but the shea moisture brand (African black soap) is on sale at Target this week (in the Chicago stores anyway). There's also a 5% off coupon on the cartwheel app.
  • My acne has me feeling horrible. I didn't have acne as a teen either.
  • My face has never been this bad and my back has started the joys of pregnancy Haha couldn't be happier though
  • Not exactly pregnancy related but related with having a child. My daughter caught impateigo at daycare two weeks ago. We went to the Dr. got her Fucidin and her case has cleared up nicely. Of course hubby and I both caught it as well. Me on my arm and up my nose (gross!) and hubby all over his face where he shaves. Luckily Fucidin is pregnancy safe (it's a topical anti fungal ointment) it has just been a pain to get rid of.
  • I am just sick of body acne, neck and back is the worst
  • Thanks ladies! I bought black soap and it is doing wonders! My skin is finally clearing up.

  • Are any of you with acne having a baby girl by chance? I read somewhere that if a woman has acne she's having a girl. Is there any truth to this?

Try the Belli skincare line. My skin was awful when I first learned I was pregnant... It is so good now!!

Lol I believed that well more so of wanting a girl so bad I was blaming my acne on my baby but he's a boy and I think it's cause I already had trouble with acne it just made it worse. I had control over it till all of a sudden stuff stopped working and I was getting uncontrollable acne and then boom no period. I believed this old wives tale so hard though until a few weeks ago.
  • My acne has started to clear up now into second tri I'm 20 weeks it started clearing up like a week or so ago. I'm so relieved I had it through school and whenever I was on bc pills. So yes whenever my hormones go wacky I suffer greatly. I didn't change anything though I just figured as long as my skin is kept clean and moisturized there's not much more I can do. Since I have really sensitive skin on top of acne prone I keep it to a minimum. A gentle face wash clean and clear, Dickinsons brand witch hazel toner (yellow bottle NOT blue), and my ponds moisturizer.
  • I wish I would have read this before I went to target today. The acne on my shoulders and back has been aweful.
  • I use Rodan + Fields Unblemish and it works wonders.... Let me know if your interested and I can guide you in the right direction to get it...
  • I'm dealing with very itchy breasts at night and very dry facial skin. :( putting lotion on my breasts does not help.
  • I bought the black soap, and while I don't know that it's making a significant difference with my sudden horrid bacne, I totally love the smell and how it makes my skin feels.
  • I have a zit between my eyes that should have its own zip code , sigh this stinks
  • Does anyone have a photo of the black soap packaging just so that I'm sure I'm buying the right stuff?
  • What worka for strech marks???
  • I use a konjac sponge with charcoal, my normal cleanser and moisturizer and dry almond oil since my skin has been really dry and flaky
  • I have switched from Clean and Clear to Perfectly Posh products for my face and omg my skin has never looked better. I was so broken out this pregnancy which is why I switched. I use the Gender Bender chunk to take off my makeup, BFF to exfoliate, moisturize 911 as my moisturizer, and a couple times a week I use the In the Clear face mask. It has worked wonders. If anyone is interested, let me know. My biggest problem right now are very itchy breasts. I have not found anything that works. Any recommendations?!
  • @mrhargr I use gold bond healing lotion on my breasts and nipples that helps my itching SO much
  • I started using my clarisonic again & it's helped tremendously. I use oil of Olay sensitive wash along with the clarisonic with the delicate brush head.
  • @Aminafleming I don't have a picture but it's a plain black bar and I think it's called Shea Noir or something. When I was at target this weekend I just googled "target African black soap" and a target product page came up and told me the aisle location. It was about $4.50

  • Only time extreme dry skin has its benefits...no acne! However, I'm getting these weird red dots. Almost like popped blood vessels. Dr apt Friday, but anyone else get them?
  • I've been using Braggs apple cider vinegar mixed with water at a 1:1 ratio as a toner on my face and it has totally cleared up my acne. I swear this was the worst acne I have ever had in my entire life and it is just amazing that the vinegar took care of it. I just do it morning and night. It's awesome!
  • I am having worse acne then ever in my life and having a girl! So maybe it's true that she takes your beauty! Lol
  • @babywells2016 did you ask your doctor about the red dots? I have the same thing.
  • @JDBtwinmama I did. She said they were probably capillaries surfacing on the skin. She wasn't concerned at all, and said they would disappear after baby comes. I have a huge one on my nose. So huge, when I was working with one of my 3rd grade students, he stopped to ask me. Oh, the honesty of children...
  • Hahahha @babywells2016 I have one on my nose too! I look like Rudolph!
  • I'm 23 weeks and my acne on my shoulders is out of control and goes down my back. They actually hurt. I've been using Cetaphil as it helped with my face and neck. For girls who have had it on their back and shoulders, what has worked well for you?
  • This content has been removed.
  • treece1994 to prevent stretchmarks I use a glycolic acid bodywash and a glycolic acid lotion (Glytone is the brand I use but there are plenty of other good brands out there). I also use organic coconut oil throughout the day if I feel my skin getting dry.

I have not gotten any new stretch marks since I started this combo and some of the old ones are starting to fade a little bit as well as some other scars. Also I've noticed my skin feels smoother overall. hope that helps :)
  • Thanks for the tip!!!
  • I have developed a rash! :-( ugh no fun especially because I already have extremely sensitive skin as it is.
  • I am getting what looks like a skin tag underneath both eyes. I am 29w+4d and I noticed them for the first time about 2 months ago. Anyone else having this issue? I'm not sure if it's pregnancy related.
  • Yes, skin tags can be pregnancy related. Not much to do about them but have your doctor remove them after birth. :( I have quite a few as well, although they are all really small.

  • A lot of the posts are related to acne...
I've always had acne.. That's not my issue... My acne is clearing up
    Blackheads however are horrid..
My face is SUPERLY oily though ( I'll wash my face with cleaner, 30mins later I have to wash it again)
But, it's also dry, I have skin flakes everywhere.

I've tried changing face wash, I've tried just plain water, I've tried alcohol, NOTHING work...

    Any suggestions?
  • Cetaphil face wash or ask your dermatologist?
