Dr called with non-urgent test results

I found out I was pregnant on Sept. 2 with my first child. We've tried a couple years so my Dr. saw me right away on the 5th. I saw her and she sent me for blood and urine tests. Today the office called and said she wants to talk to me about the results, but that it's not urgent, I can't see her until the 19th. I'm trying not to worry about it but I can't help it, does anyone know what it could be? I don't want to spend the next week stressing about this.

Re: Dr called with non-urgent test results

  • Can't you call on Monday for the results? I would think if they called you in the first place, you can call back and get them. Otherwise why would they have even called in the first place.

  • I had a similar call last week though I'm further along than you. Midwife called to say she wanted to talk to me about results but that it wasn't urgent and to call back when I got a chance. Sure enough it was just because I have to take antibiotics, nothing major. They would be obliged to get in contact with you if there was a serious problem. It's easier said than done but please try to relax because as PPs said, if it was urgent, you would know. Good luck!

  • Thank you! My Dr. Office won't give out results over the phone and they said since it wasn't an emergency I have to wait until the next opening which is next Saturday. I'm hoping it's nothing big, but I think I have first time jitters! Thanks for the responses it's helping for sure!
  • Does your doctor's office have an online patient portal? The doctor's website would have the link and instructions on how to log in for the first time, or you can call on Monday to ask for access. The patient portal my doc has includes the details of my test results, so maybe check the patient portal to see if they've been posted on there (and maybe the doctor just wants to explain what the numbers mean).
