I didn't eat 12 hours prior to my app, the drink was actually not that bad as people make it seem but everyone is different . The nurse told me to drink it in less than 5 minutes so i dranked it in like less than a minute, the only thing that I didn't like was that I was very hungry but all worth it I passed yay!
I am very sad. I failed my 1 hour test with flying colors. I go back today for the 3 hour one. I HATE needles so this is my worst fear come true. I was told to eat a protein dinner, take a walk and fast over night. I followed instructions to the t and it didn't matter. It makes me think I might actually have it. I hear it's hormonal? There's no family history, I am very small size 2 pre pregnancy, I have gained 20 lbs at 28 weeks. I don't watch what I eat but I don't over eat or snack either. I am so bummed.
Mine is Fruit Punch flavor- I have no idea what it tastes like yet, but the girl in the waiting room doing the 3 hour was like "OMG- it is so disgusting, drink it with a straw so you don't taste it as much & it goes down faster." But she'd had to drink it a few times apparently, so.... we'll see
I'm so glad to hear that I'll probably crash afterwards, I have the longest day since I've gotten preggo scheduled! YAY! I think to be safe, I'll make a scrambled egg & eat that 2 hrs before I drink the stuff & bring some triscuts with me to the office. It's next thursday, so I'll be so happy when it's over!
The one hour drink for me tasted fine... Wasn't gross at all. I failed so I just did the 3 hour today. Now that drink is a different story! The first one was 50g of glucose, the 3 hour is 100g of glucose!!! Omg... It was the sweetest thing I've ever drank! I felt horrible for the first hour but then started feeling better. At the end of the 3 hours I was starving! I brought a snack and left it in the car (bagel and peanut butter), and then got lunch on the way home. I'm on the couch now... Definitely crashed! Nothing will get done today I-)
I just done mine today...came back to the clinic after 45 mins and they left me waiting for 45 mins after that (they wroge down the wrong time to take my blood) so now I have to go back and do the test again Monday there was a lot going on and the ladies working there were flustered because a man passed out earlier in the clinic so I know they feel bad but I don't wanna drink that stuff again haha
My doctors office gave me the drink, with instructions that a light meal was okay before the test, and said to drink the drink and head to the lab about 30-40 minutes after for blood work. No fasting, no restrictions...nothing.
I took mine home as well. They were going to give it to me today at my appointment, but there was none is the fridge and I'm told I don't want to drink it warm.
All I was told was drink in 5 min and then head to the office so I can have blood drawn at exactly an hours. I asked about drinking water after and she said I could rinse my mouth out but no food after. Nothing about fasting before.
They are letting me do my test with some honey in warm water as an alternative to the orange stuff because I said I don't drink things like pop or eat a lot of super processed foods. I have heard it can be a pretty harsh drink for some women, which is why I asked about it.
If this interests you, you might want to follow up with your provider if they will let you do honey instead or some do jelly beans.
