TTC After a Loss

Ready to try again

To all the women who've gone thru a mc, my heart goes out to each of you. It was the hardest thing I've had to go thru. I had a D&C July 31st and will say I'm finally feeling like myself. Time is of essence. So hang in there!! It does get easier. I got my period last week and it lasted about 5 days which is very normal for me. My question, is it too soon to start trying? My doc said to wait 2 cycles but of course I'm ready. I've just started in my fertile window and I'm suppose to ovulate this Sunday (according to an app I'm using). Should my husband and I try or give it time and wait after my next cycle?

Re: Ready to try again

  • I'm so sorry for your loss.  My MFM told me to wait 3 cycles (after giving birth full term) before trying again.  I felt ready to try sooner than that but at the same time I felt like it was important to listen to my doctor.  If something happened (like an early loss) I think I might blame myself for trying before my body might have been ready.  It is so hard though to know you are ovulating and avoid getting pregnant when you want a baby so badly!  So I know how you feel.  Thankfully we can try again once my next cycle starts in a couple weeks.  I hope the time passes quickly for you!

  • I was told I was free to try again after first period was over, I had a natural miscarriage at 8wkd so not sure if it's different for some. From what I can gather a lot of the waiting is with regards to emotional state and dating of future pregnancies etc. I had my mc in July and we're trying again, lots of love to you on this journey, here's to a healthy happy experience next time round x
  • I'm in the same boat as you right now. I have my first MC on 6/22 stopped bleeding a week later and felt ready for sex. About 3 weeks after I got a + opk and ended up getting pregnant. On 7/26 I started bleeding, I found out two weeks later that the bleeding I had was another MC...I was so upset more upset then the 1st time. I just got AF today and now i'm like "its been 8 weeks, we should try again" But my doctor told me to wait 3 months and i think i might. The 2nd time i did feel like it was all my fault and that was really hard. God luck and i hope everything works out!
  • Thank you all for replying!! It's so tough to go thru this. The support helps tremendously. After more thinking, I'm gonna give it more time. I do feel my body needs it and if the doctor recommended it, I should listen. Obviously she is telling me that for a reason. I will keep my fingers crossed for you all in that we will have successful pregnancies in the near future!!

I just had a mc last weekend. The doctor told me to wait one complete normal cycle before trying again. I'm so sad! I just want my baby back. I'm mad that I have to wait, and I feel guilty that I want to try again right now because it feels like I'm forgetting my first baby if I move on to try for the next one. I am assuming it will be about 6 weeks before we can try again if things even out as quickly as I want them to. That seems like forever! But I agree with some of the other comments; if we started earlier and had another mc, I would feel responsible.
