I'm 21 weeks pregnant and lately my lower back has been killing me, I tried looking on their websites FAQ but it's not clear with the answer.. So I was wondering if anyones has used it before or has asked their doctor about it and is it safe?
I would like to know this too. Could it be your posture? I know when I lay on my back or slouched into a couch my back screams with pain, apparently my baby is pressed against my back and is pinching some nerves.

Have you ladies tried any prenatal yoga stretches for hips? Sore lower back is likely from your hips moving and widening, some light stretching may help. Also sitting and rolling around on an exercise ball releases some tension too.
I don't know if those bengay type rubs will help, they don't really get deep enough.
I expect you'll hear differing opinions on this one, but my dr okayed topical muscle creams. I opted for a more natural brand that primarily uses menthol. I would still run it by your dr first esp brands using actual analgesics.
I have been using icy hot for several weeks. I use a very small amount on my back and more on my legs. Some of it is absorbed into your skin, so my doctor didnt want me to overdo it.
Unfortunately, back pain will likely get worse the more pregnant you get. I could barely move last time, but was also on bed rest for 3 weeks (only my left side....lying down.....horrible). However, the most helpful thing was a pregnancy pillow wrapped around my back and to the bottom of my legs. I have slept with a body pillow since breaking my wrist at 10 (don't ask me why), so I needed something different during pregnancy. I also used a towel rolled up behind it in a big sock <--- worked so well for a long time last pregnancy. I will probably do that again. Also helped with me sleeping wrong....
My doctor said not to use any of those creams, but instead to try Vicks Vaporub. She has also said heating pads or icing it is fine, or to try getting a prenatal massage.
As you can see, there are mixed opinions about this, but general consensus seems to be no. I work in a pharmacy and was actually having a conversation about this with the head pharmacist the other day. He told me topical creams are a no-no, because of the aspirin they contain. He also recommended switching back and forth between heat and ice. So far that's done wonders for my lower back pain.
I don't know if those things are ok, but I use those stick on pads that heat up, and my doctor said it was fine. The ones I buy do not get very hot, not as hot as a heating pad that you plug in, but I sleep with one on and feel better in the morning,
Re: Can I use IcyHot or Bengay on my back?
