Activities for 3 months

Re: Activities for 3 months

  • It shows you activities to do with baby.  You will make a little profile for LO and then everyday there are daily programs for you to complete.  Its all based on the profile.I only use the free version, so the activities are limited, but it's only a few dollars to buy an activity package and I think it is worth it because you get so much more.

For instance in my programs for today theres "gripping your fingers" where the objective is to strengthen arms and hands and you just let the baby grip your fingers and then you move them slowly in different directions.  There is a video example so you know what to do.

That sounds awesome! I'll have to look for that. Thanks! :)

Heh! Didn't mean to cause any ruckus or judgement about the Bumbo - I was just surprised when I read the article and per usual started to question everything... Stupid internet.

Re thunder thighs, an acquaintance has the summer infant one I believe for the same reason.

No ruckus lady! I always find articles posted interesting and I def can see the point.. And you can judge a bumbo if you want lol! My guy isn't a fan and doesn't fit

Ok I was going to get a bumbo but then I read this: https://mamaot.com/beware-the-baby-bumbo-seat/

Has anyone else heard to avoid them? They seem all the rage!

I'm not getting one because of this.
  • I'm going to ask my BIL about this, he also has a doctorate in physical therapy (like the woman who wrote the article). He's not specifically pediatric, but he does work with some kids/teens. My niece is 2 and they had a bumbo for her. They didn't use it much cause girlfriend had some chunky thighs and didn't fit great, but, I don't think he was concerned about the things mentioned here. I mean he won't even let her walk on her tip toes because he doesn't want her to mess up the tendons and ligaments on the backs of her legs.

I didn't care for the article making parents seem selfish for cooking/eating/showering. I mean sure there are other places to leave baby while we do those things, but it made it sound like those things were completely unnecessary. If they're supposed to be only laying on their backs or tummies, are swings, bouncers, carseats, and baby wearing detrimental as well? I agree that you shouldn't overuse anything, but come on.
  • The thing is is that as adults we do "bad" things all the time to make life more enjoyable/convenient/workable. Things I have done in the past week that surely have articles written against them: eaten ice cream, played on my phone in bed, skipped the gym, had bad nursing posture, etc. etc. etc. As long as we are healthy and happy these little bad habits are not a big deal. But we are terrified to ever make a bad choice for our babies.
  • Our neighbors use their bumbo for when baby needs to eat (when their on baby food) and wants to be at the table with them instead of a high chair. I'm down with doing this :)

@klkonwi .Exactly this.. He will use this at the dinner table (tight fit and all) until he can sit up in a highchair... I am not worried ONE BIT
  • Meanwhile we tried out a Bumbo at our friends house over the weekend and LO seemed to enjoy it ;)

@karastwin now I'm concerned LO shouldn't be standing up so much lest she hurt ligaments... What's that about? Standing is LOs absolute favorite thing to do.
  • I use the bumbo a few minutes every day. I have a large mirror on my wall and I sit them in the bumbo in front of the mirror. The love it, which is to say they last more than 3 minutes before fussing. With my first I read a lot of articles saying I was a horrible mother doing everything wrong and it gave me some serious mommy guilt. My favourite was the one stating helping a baby walk by holding their hands and helping them balance was awful. Finally, I just starting trusting my gut.

My babies watch the tv if it's on
I use my exersaucer (blanket rolled behind them so they can't throw themselves back)
I have a light up bouncy seat they like
my husband made a baby gym big enough for the twins to sit under at the same time
tummy time until they really scream
    Read books
Prop their bellies on the nursing pillow so their looking out at the world

Everything I do I am either sure they are safe like laying on the floor or am watching them. To someone, every choice you make as a parent is a bad one. I say just do what feels right!

    Amen
