Belly Button 'innie' to 'outie'?

So have any Mamas here noticed changes to their belly buttons? Looks like mine is starting to push out.

I was wondering... What do you do about it poking through your clothing?

I mean, I realize its not like a stiff nipple or anything but even still. Do you ladies think belly button protruding through clothing looks trashy at all?

It doesn't bother me but I don't want to be unknowingly commiting a faux pas.

  • Mine hasn't yet- but I don't think it's trashy- I feel like you can see that on a lot of pregnant women. Just embrace it!
Maybe if you don't like how It looks you could try an extra Bella band? But I'm not sure how comfortable you'd be lol

  • Mine hasn't changed either, but it's a pretty deep innie so who knows what will happen to it?

Mine didn't change last time (mine's a pretty deep innie too) and I felt a bit short changed actually. I also never got the dark line down my bump. :(
  • Mine never did with my first. It hasn't changed this time yet. I don't think it looks trashy at all on women who do have it.
  • Haha I don't think it's a faux pas and I actually think it's cute! I was a little disappointed that I didn't get one with my first or second pregnancy! I guess time will tell this time around but so far, it looks exactly the same!

  • Mine is really deep so I don't expect it to pop but I'm with everyone else, I don't think it's trasy. I have heard of ladies putting bandaids over them though.

I had part of mine removed for melanoma when I was 16. So it was pretty small and shallow... Now that I have a little bit of a belly it's almost completely flat. It's going to look super weird in a while. I think popped belly buttons are kind of cute.
  • Mine is really inverted also. Never thought it might stay this way!
  • Mine never popped last time. It did get pretty flat and weird. This time it might since it's twins.
  • I must be the odd one out. My button popped and nobody was offended (or said so to my face anyway) about it showing through my clothes. I was probably more self conscious than anything. As I got closer to the end, everything was getting stretched out so much that it was fairly flat by delivery time.

I heard of people taping their button down but that seems quite ridiculous lol.
  • I have a fairly deep innie and I gained about 60lbs with my first. My belly button ended up completely flat. It didn't poke out, but it also wasn't an innie anymore. It stayed that way for a few days after birth. I'm 18 weeks now and I'm fairly close to having a flat belly button again. Not sure if that means it will end up an outie, or just be flat for a while. My mom started with an innie and had 3 of us, her belly button is now completely flat.
  • I gained 70 lbs with my first and mine never popped out.
Now seems pretty early to see changes in your belly button, though.
  • I have a deep belly button, with my first I gained 55 lbs and the only time it popped out was when I was about 8 months and ate wayyyyyy too much Benihanas! I actually had to recline the seat in the car because it was too hard for me to sit up.
But my friends popped out when she was about 5 months and stayed that way until she delivered.
  • Mine is out already. Of course this is my third and it's already stretched out and weird from the other two pregnancies. I've never had a problem with it showing through clothes though... I guess it just sticks out a little. I don't know. But really who cares? I would not be ashamed of it or try to hide it. It's a belly button.
  • FTM here and mine is shallow to begin with. Its starting to flatten out and disappearing already at 20 weeks. Curious to see what will happen with it over the next 20 weeks!

If it bothers you that bad put a band-aid over it. But I think it's fine....all part of the experience.
  • Not entirely related, but anyone feel strange tingly feelings under the belly button while it pushes out? FTM and I have a deep innie but it's been tingling for the past week as if something is pushing it out - just wondering if anyone has the same?

Deep innie here too mine never poked out and I get big. It almost went flat with DD2. No changes so far this time.

No I haven't felt a thing, I only noticed changes because my husband pointed it out.. Could be a nerve ending being pushed?
  • @DrMommaDVM this. My belly button has never fully recovered and now on baby 3 it's out there already :))

Possibly- Not sure if it'll end up coming out though :)
  • I'm 17 weeks 4 days and my belly button has already popped out and is an outie! It shows through my clothes too. My belly button did this with all my pregnancies, but it seems like it did it sooner this time! It might just be because this is baby #6 for me! My belly button has always returned to normal after delivery though.

Mine has started to stretch/flatten over the past few weeks, but it's still there.
  • Lol.  Next time I'm in the restroom I'm going to examine my belly button.  Mine popped last time, but I'm nowhere near there yet with this one.  I always joke that it's like the little thermometer that comes in the turkey.  When it pops, the turkey's done cooking.

  • I'm a FTM too and noticed a couple of weeks ago that the scar that was once inside of my belly button (from my gallbladder removal) is now arched over the top of it rather than inside of it. I noticed last night that my innie is getting much more shallow too. Kind of weird but exciting!

    We're having twins

Our angel baby boy is looking over his twin sister - due November 21

  • I'm at 16 and 4 (FTM), and mine has been changing for weeks. It hasn't popped, and it isn't even flat, but the middle does come out more than it used to. SO was even kind enough to let me know that my belly button had gotten "wider."

  • I noticed that with mine the top part pops out more now. Mine didn't fully pop with previous pregnancies until the very end so I hope it's the same with this one. I pretty much always wear a camisole underneath my tops because maternity tops seem to be so thin so that help flatten it out a biy and not show through as much.

  • Mine has been out for weeks, husband thinks it's so cute. I don't really care what others think. It's part of pregnancy, I don't think it's a big deal.

Same with me :/ it's so messed up from my two previous pregnancies that as soon as I had a hint of a bump it was out there just waving around lol.
  • Mine is doing the same thing it did last time, but I thought I was way further along last time. First it became flat and now it's half way sticking out on top but still in on the bottom? Wtf .... My husband thinks it's cute. It looks weird.
  • Belly button update? I find myself a little disappointed that mine hasnt come out :(( Will it? it just looks a little stretched out but nowhere near "out".
  • Mine has definitely gotten shallower but it has not popped out yet either. Not sure if I want it to or not.
  • Mine is flat but darker pigmented. I don't like to look at it haha
  • Mine freaks me out, it used to be deep but now it's very shallow and if I put pressure around the edges I can make it pop to a little outtie. Ahhhhhh I think it's so gross haha
  • Mine is mostly flat and pops out a little at the top. Depends on how bloated I am and were baby is. It's so strange and I can't help but feel it all the time haha!
  • Mine has mostly popped out, and it pokes out more if I laugh or sneeze. I can thank my husband for pointing that gem out to me. Baby likes to poke around near my belly button almost like she's stretching it out herself.
  • Mine is still very much an innie! It's a tad shallower, and the skin around it feels tighter, but no sign of it disappearing at this point. It was pretty deep to begin with, though.
  • Mine is still an innie and still seems really deep to me. I wouldn't mind an outie, but we will see lol.
  • Mine still hasn't completely popped out but earlier my BF was cracking me up about something and I had my belly hanging out and every time I laughed my stomach went with it and my belly button would pop out at every giggle. I really hope it just stays flat and doesn't completely pop out, I think it's so gross. Gah, I hate my pregnant body. I'm even getting the oh so dreaded (for me) linea nigra. I figured it would come but was hoping I'd get lucky. Now I'm expecting the stretch marks to come next. :((
