May 2016 Moms

Two babies under two....

I am the lucky mother of two boys one is 6 and the other is almost 8 months. I was just wondering if anyone else here is going to have two babies in their lives come May. And if so how are you feeling about it. I'm excited but also a little scared because I know it's going to be quite the challenge. Obviously worth it but still a little overwhelming...

Re: Two babies under two....

  • Yes! My son is currently 6 months old, which means the babies will be 15 months apart when this peanut arrives. We know it's going to be a crazy few years but it's what we planned on. I'm definitely nervous for what's in store but I'm trying to focus on DS right now and hopefully enjoy this pregnancy!

  • Just barely, my son will be 22 months.

I'm nervous but thinking of the positives. Like, I am happy they will be so close so they can be friends. Repeat, repeat, repeat.

  • My DD is 10 months old now so she will be 19 months when LO arrives! Summer will be starting and my then 9 year old daughter will be able to help a lot! But yes I'm a little worried about having a toddler running around and a newborn that's needs my attention!
  • I'm nervous too! DD will be 22 months when this little one is born. I know we'll be fine but that doesn't mean I'm not freaking out a little bit... Okay maybe a lot a bit.
  • I have an 11 month old and a 2.5 year old. So there will be 19 months and 40 months between my current babies and the new baby.... Life's about to get crazy!!!

I agree completely!! I was honestly feeling a little alone in this situation. I mean I have my DH but I don't think he quite gets what a big deal it is going to be. Lol.

  • @NMason505 my goodness! You're a brave woman!!

Exactly. I keep having this nightmare where I'm trying to breastfeed the new baby and chase the will be 17 month old around all at the same time lol...all these different scenarios keep playing in my head....

My first 2 are 23 months apart, the beginning was definitely chaotic and a huge adjustment period, but now 18 months later, it is seriously the best! They interact so well, love each other so much! After this little one is both ill have a 4, 2, and newbie
  • Our DS will be 20 months when this baby comes. I'm super nervous too but I'm also excited to have them close in age so they can grow up together. My younger brothers were 16 months apart and they were really close.

  • Bumping to check in on everyone! How are you all doing??

Symptoms haven't really hit me yet (I won't even be 5 weeks along until Thursday) and I'm hoping it stays that way. I mean, I'm tired...but I'm ALWAYS tired :(( I really hope nobody is dealing with MS while juggling a little one!
  • Mine will be 22 months apart here. Nervous but excited! We will all be busy but fine :)

@Docfam5 you just gave me soooo much hope. Please tell us more about the transition days....just how hard? What challenges? When did it get better?

  • Mine will be almost exactly two years apart. My due date with this one is one day before my daughter's 2nd birthday!

  • @mslovesbo well for me it was juggling breast feeding on demand and my daughter being clingy. My husband was deployed, so I was the only caregiver and they both depended on me so much. I also got mastitis the first week, so that put a huge damper on things. After 3 weeks, it got easier. And by 6 weeks our schedule was amazing. I made sure to put the baby down as soon as he fell
Asleep and have 1-1 time with my DD. I also included her on everything. When I changed the baby, I asked her to get wipes or the diaper, or even throw the diaper in the trash, we sung to the baby, she also fed her "baby" when I fed mine.

I'm experiencing some drowsiness and sore boobs but I think it might be because my 8 month old DS is done BF and not so much a pregnancy symptom. Oh and motion sickness in the car.

  • My youngest will have just turned 3 when this little one is born. But my oldest two are 9 months apart. Yes, you read that right. They were supposed to be 11 months apart, but my second came 2 months early. It was hard, but really not nearly as difficult as I thought it would be. They are now 4 (one turning 5 in October) and are best friends. Lately I've actually been missing the time when they were little babies together. You all can do it! It's a fun special bond. I'm more than happy to answer any questions and give encouragement. :-)

  • My boys are 15mos apart. They are best friends. Also more so when they were younger I got asked everytime in public if they were twins. They shared diaper size at 1 point, I potty trained at the same time. They have been in the same clothes size for years. I love it. I doubt Im having two more, but if i did id want them 2 under 2 again.
  • This is exactly my situation! My son was born May 13th, 2014 (due date was May 6th) and this one is due May 3rd...hopefully they won't have the same birthdays
  • This baby will be due in May and DS will be 2 yrs old in June. DS is non stop right now which is exhausting! I think it'll be challenging but most definitely worth it!!!

  • My daughters are 20 months apart. They are such good friends and keep each other company and laughing! It was a crazy while there while both were in diapers, but as they've gotten older it's become easier. GL to all of you!
  • I will have three under three! I have a 22 month old daughter, a 7 month old son and will have my third in May! I love that my two kids right now are best friends. It was hard having them so close at the beginning but after you get the flow of it, its the best to watch them grow and laugh and love together. Cant wait for baby number three to have the same
  • We'll just miss this, DS will be 25 months when this baby is due. I am so excited for all the craziness to begin!

@Nicolewhitt you are my parenting inspiration. I'll for sure want 3 under 3! Bring on the crazy!
  • Hahaha get ready!! Its gonna be fun! I havent told many people yet so i know im going to get alot of crap from people but hey! I wanted it this way
  • We did this last time! I have two boys, 3 and 18m. It was honestly not horrible. DS1 was 20 months when DS2 arrived, and now he doesn't remember him not being here! This one will be just over two years younger than DS2 so we will see how having 3 under 3 is for a few months. ;)
  • DS and this little one will be 19 months apart and I can't wait! I'm grateful it will be summer, for some reason that feels like it will help. At 10 months DS is walking and wild so I'm sure it's going to be a party come May!

  • So glad I saw this....was feeling very wary about it. Our DD is 9 months, so they'll be about a year and a half apart. I always wanted kids to be close, just didn't think quite this close :)
  • I have BG twins (2)and am four times more likely to have twins this time so I'm anxious to see how many I have this time. Whenever I'm feeling overwhelmed I think of my friend Tab who has a 3.5, 2.5, 1.5, and 3 month old twins!! 5 kids three and under!!!

  • I have a 13 month old. He will be 23 months when the next baby is due!
