  • 1. 10 years ago what were you doing in life?
I was starting my sophomore year of high school and hating life. Trying to blend in as much as possible so I wouldn't get noticed. High school was not a good time for me

    2. What was your favorite toy when you were a kid?(bonus for a pic)
Probably play doh or lite brite. I ate a lot of play doh as a small child...

    3. Do you still own any VHS tapes or cassette tapes?
I don't have any but we have some at my parents' house. All of those Disney vhs tapes in the big plastic cases are still there and still work!

    4. Name your favorite past childhood TV Show.
I was a big Nick at Nite fan. Clarissa explains it all, all that, etc.

    5. What do you wish was around today (like a food brand or toy brand) that isn't anymore?
Butterfingers bbs! They have butterfinger bites now but it's just not the same

    6. What would you consider your growing up years? 70s, 80s, 90s? Do you miss those years?
I would say 90s. Those were the good old days of playing outside until the streetlights came on and barely ever living at your own house during the summer because you were always somewhere doing something
  • @SoSweetTea1124 they still make skip it's but they are not the same. They are a really weird cheap plastic that barely spins, so depressing! I wonder if my aunt still has hers in the garage!!
  • Love this <3

    3. Do you still own any VHS tapes or cassette tapes?
There are way too many of these that I "own" that are still at my parents house. I not kind of want to get my boom box and listen while watching Disney movies.

Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Boy Meets World (like so many), Recess, I mean...basically anything on TGIF and One Saturday Morning.

    5. What do you wish was around today (like a food brand or toy brand) that isn't anymore?
I wish I could find Oops All Berries at all times.

    6. What would you consider your growing up years? 70s, 80s, 90s? Do you miss those years?
I was born in 88 and I would say my "growing up years" were in the 90's and early 00's. I do miss those years. Carefree living and Spice Girls? Hello lol.

    5. What do you wish was around today (like a food brand or toy brand) that isn't anymore?
I'm not sure. I used to love a place called Leaps and Bounds, it was like chucks cheese, except had WAY better tunnels, and more!

    6. What would you consider your growing up years? 70s, 80s, 90s? Do you miss those years?

    6. What would you consider your growing up years? 70s, 80s, 90s? Do you miss those years?
I was a 90s kid.  I love that I grew up without the internet or cell phones.  I'm hoping to recreate some of that for my kids.
  • @inomniaparatus I was just telling H the other day I wished they still made the rice crispy treat cereal!!! They brought back French toast crunch and I've already eaten a couple boxes.... Lol

@wisco29 I think the skateboarding show you are talking about was Rocket Power. I loved that show!

    2. What was your favorite toy when you were a kid?(bonus for a pic)
I had a Grover from Muppet babies stuffed animal I loved. I also had a stuffed elephant with a rattle in the belly I named Mr. Peanut I took EVERYWHERE! I brought it to college with me and I still have it just waiting for this little bean to get here to love on it!

    3. Do you still own any VHS tapes or cassette tapes?
No, I had a ton and while I was in my freshman year of college my mom cleaned out the living room and have them all away. There were original Disney vhs' in there and I still haven't fully forgiven her. She didn't realize how often they release from the vault...

    4. Name your favorite past childhood TV Show.

    umm... I'm not sure...

    6. What would you consider your growing up years? 70s, 80s, 90s? Do you miss those years? I grew up in the 90s the most I think... Born in '86 so I have no recollection of the 80s. I miss parts of it, mostly the carefree aspect I felt like I had, but that may just be most childhoods when looking back.

  • 1. 10 years ago I was a junior in college and lamely spending all of my time with my serious boyfriend of the time.

    2. I loved K'Nex - I would design and build multi-story houses and roller coasters and everything else. I also had just about every Teenage Mutant Ninja turtle and loved Polly Pockets.

    3. Even though I am older than a lot of you, I never owned any VHS tapes or cassettes. My older siblings had some.

    4. I was obsessed with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! I had a huge crush on Leonardo because he was the smart one.

    5. I guess I'll agree with others and say the original Polly Pockets. I was obsessed with anything tiny for a long time, but they don't make stuff like that anymore because of choking hazards.

    6. I grew up in the 90's, but gained most of my personality in the 2000's.

Is it sad to say I didn't gain a personality until college and post-college??

    1. 10 years ago what were you doing in life?
I worked part time and was in college. I was also probably drunk most weekends.

    2. What was your favorite toy when you were a kid?(bonus for a pic)
My fire truck. I was obsessed with the fire brigade.

    3. Do you still own any VHS tapes or cassette tapes?
No I don't. I threw them all out before H and I moved in together.

    4. Name your favorite past childhood TV Show.
    Thunder Cats & Scooby Doo

    5. What do you wish was around today (like a food brand or toy brand) that isn't anymore?
    Nothing really.

    6. What would you consider your growing up years? 70s, 80s, 90s? Do you miss those years?
Born in the 80's but grew up in the 90's. I miss being carefree. But I like where I'm at now too.

  • @brushesnbrunch - I was the same way! I was introverted and shy and maybe a bit weird in high school and most of college. My senior year of college I got out of a serious relationship and started getting really into biology and making all kinds of amazing friends. I finally came out of my shell and started finding out who I really was. This continued into grad school until I graduated in 2010.
  • I was a walking doormat until my freshman year of college when I was living with a highschool friend and got tired of putting up with her shit. I finally grew a backbone and it felt REALLY good. I came home for summers and the friends I reconnected with couldn't believe the transformation. It was awesome, and I definitely made some really amazing friendships because of what I learned about myself.

  • @brushesnbrunch the OC still is my favorite show EVER. And for the Disney movies, they have a package where you can get 100 years of Disney--- 164 DVDs for like $190. I'm trying to convince SO that we should own it!!
  • @amandabobanda OMG I forgot about Lite Brites! Those were the shiz!!!

As soon as I clean out my netflix queue of the shows I never got around to starting the first time, I fully plan on indulging again in all the glory that was the OC. Teen dramas are totally my guilty pleasure. And Seth Cohen was just so nerdy and dreamy...

  • 1. 10 years ago what were you doing in life?
I had just started my sr year of high school.

    2. What was your favorite toy when you were a kid?(bonus for a pic)
My american girl dolls. I had Kirsten and Josephine. I had just about all of Kirsten's accessories too. I kept everything and hope to give it to DD when she's older

    3. Do you still own any VHS tapes or cassette tapes?
    Nope lol

    4. Name your favorite past childhood TV Show.
Um....I don't know that I had a favorite showm didn't watch a lot TV. Mostly played outside or with toys.

    5. What do you wish was around today (like a food brand or toy brand) that isn't anymore?
Surge lol. I don't drink pop normally but I used to sneak sips of my dad's surge and I loved it. Also, why can't scrunchies be cool again?

    6. What would you consider your growing up years? 70s, 80s, 90s? Do you miss those years?
90s. Born in the late 80s. I miss being a kid some days but the 90s eehhh probably not lol

  • 1. 10 years ago what were you doing in life?
Well I was 12. So probably dealing with my first period. The horror!

    2. What was your favorite toy when you were a kid?(bonus for a pic) Barbies, frogger on the gameboy, and Nintendo games.

    3. Do you still own any VHS tapes or cassette tapes? My parents have a ton. Me, nope!

    4. Name your favorite past childhood TV Show.
Are you afraid of the dark? I think it was called. And goosebumps. And Nickelodeon shows.

    5. What do you wish was around today (like a food brand or toy brand) that isn't anymore?
Wonder balls! Those chocolate thing with candy in them I think. I loved those at Easter.
"Oh I wonder wonder wonder what's in a wonder ball!!!!!!!"
I am glad those giant life size Barbies no longer exist. My brother told me mine was evil and he set it up to fall on me or follow me around the house. Scarred me for life.

    6. What would you consider your growing up years? 70s, 80s, 90s? Do you miss those years? Late 90s. I have two older brothers by 6+ years and an older sister by 3 years so I got to hang out and play with them a lot. We had so much fun!!!!!
  • @Kiek I had Kirsten too. Now my girls 8&5 love American Girl Dolls. I fact we just went to the new store in Scottsdale they had a blast!!!
  • 1. 10 years ago what were you doing in life: 10 years ago I was 21, I was working and hanging out with friends, I was a real party animal at the time my husband (then boyfriend) didn't drink or like to party. If I wasn't doing either of those things I was hanging out with him.

    2. What was your favorite toy when you were a kid:(bonus for a pic)  ummm Honestly I don't know. I'm sure it was some barbie or some doll.

    3. Do you still own any VHS tapes or cassette tapes:
My mother has them all, but I do.

    5. What do you wish was around today (like a food brand or toy brand) that isn't anymore: Polly Pockets are still around but I loved the super tiny PP. Rainbow Brite is another favorite.

    6. What would you consider your growing up years: 70s, 80s, 90s? Do you miss those years: I was born in 84, so just enough in the 80s but really I think I grew up in the 90s. But a perfect blend of both. I miss how easy life was then. Growing up we knew all the neighbors, we would have parties every weekend. If I couldn't find my parents i knew they were next door. Growing up Gramps and Grams lived across the street and I could just cross the road to their house. These days I have to drive 45 minutes to an hour to get to their place and grams passed away years ago.

  • New here so I thought I would participate in the GTKY.

    1. 10 years ago I was in college and working in finance.

    2. Favorite toy was this bath foam Barbie that smelled amazing.

    3. No VHS or cassette tapes in this house!

    4. Favorite childhood show would be Captain Planet. I still sing the theme in my head once in a while.

    5. I wish high side ponytails were still a thing.

    6. I grew up in the 90s and I miss being a kid but you never appreciate the lack of responsibilities until it's too late. I really liked growing up without a ton of tech in our daily lives but also being young enough that I'm a digital native and I don't struggle with technology now.
