Oils for cold and sinuses

I have had a bad cold/sinus infection for the last two days. Since there isnt much in the way of OTC drugs that we can take while pregnant, does anyone know of any of the essential oils that I could try using. I had asked my doctor about those a few weeks ago and she said that I could diffuse them. I just haven't used them that much prior to now.

Do you have other children in the home? Because that will change what's safe to use.

Even though they aren't drugs essential oils you need to be careful with too - they still affect your body chemistry. My opinion - stay away from things that could cause issues and seek other options or ask your doctor specifically what is ok.

Also while this doesn't specify cold/flu - I can't find any that do - here is a site about what is ok to use - but even they caution that using oils while pregnant may be too stimulating for some people.

If you have a humidifier you can put Eucalyptus oil in it, we do for LO and it helps, just a couple drops is enough since pure oils are strong

A drop of eucalyptus oil in a warm/hot shower clears the sinuses almost instantly.

Yes what PP said. I'm an Esthetician and use oils on my clients and they are very strong so use caution, a little goes a long way

I just recovered from the same thing. Peppermint and lemon oil worked amazingly!! I would mix 2 drops of each in my evening moisturizer and rub all over my neck. I was able to easily fall asleep and breathe all night bc of those oils!

I mix eucalyptus oil with un-petroleum jelly. Like Vic's Vapo Rub but less chemicals.
