Constipated baby!

so my son hadn't pooped in 3 days so I called his doctor & she told me to give him 1-2 oz of prune juice & water. I did & it worked amazingly! He is exclusively breastfed so I don't understand why this is a problem. This has happened a few times since he has been born. So I was wondering if I should give him one oz of prune juice a day just to prevent it? He is 5 weeks & I am a ftm!

I personally wouldn't give it to him every day. How old is he? My daughter has suffered from this for a long time. She's two and a half now and I give her prunes a lot and pears she also takes mirlax but that's cause she's older now. I would give her prune juice, pear juice as needed when she was a baby. I also put lots of Vaseline on her bums. A nurse told me it helps it come out easier. Good luck! I hate seeing my daughter suffer from this.
