Just curious how long are you girls letting little one sleep overnight? I feed every 2 hours during the day but the last 2 nights I've had to wake LO up at 5 hrs to feed .

LO is growing like a weed. Pedi said I dont need to wake her up at night anymore since we are doing so great growth wise. Last night she slept 5.5 hours straight 930-3. She then woke up just before 7. We get one long stretch and then its about every 3 hours during the day other than some cluster feeding either early morning or late evening before bedtime.
I've gone 3 hours a few times..other than that either no sleep between feedings or 1-1/2 hrs

Baby Will born 8/18. He's perfect.
Ugh I wish I had that problem. He is up every 2 hours exactly so no need to wake up. I thought the 4-5 hour stretch he gave us last week would hang around, sadly I was fooled! FWIW even if he was sleeping longer I never wake to eat (considering there are no weight gain issues)
DS typically only sleeps 2.5-3.5 hours at night. One night he slept 5 and it was amazing. Jealous of those of you whose babies sleep 5 hours at night regularly!

Mine has her alarm set for 3 hours (or occasionally less if growth spurting....) If she'd let me I'd give her 6 at this point since she is gaining just fine (around 8 ounces a week).
He's up every 2-3 hours. He must be growing because he's been eating like a crazy man lately! I pump and I'm having a hard time keeping up with his appetite.
I never wake him at night. I feed him at 9:30, so he's in bed about 1030. And usually wakes up between 330 and 4. Then he goes back to sleep until I wake him up at 7:30 start his day.
I would be happy if I could get DD to sleep for 15 minutes (without being held), and I think I might kill for her to sleep for 5 hours straight. ::reminds self that one day I will be yelling at a teenager to get her butt out of bed at noon::
@Miz_Liz Yeah except when she finally does surprise you with a 5 hour stretch, then you won't sleep because you'll be up every hour taking her temp or making sure she is still breathing.

Or maybe that is just me.
@Carleyec93 oh God yes, I know I will. The first time DS slept a long time I thought he was dead! Especially the first time I let him sleep in when I had just quit my job and I woke up and realized it was 10:00 am and he was still asleep - I ran into his room so fast!!
My DD slept for 6 hours straight last night! It was a miracle!! I woke up at 5.5 hours, realized what time it was and almost fell out of bed trying to get to her to make sure she was okay. Then I spent the next 30 minutes trying to decide if I should wake her, then she woke up. I don't expect this to continue but it was nice for one night!
Oh my! At this point, I've officially forgotten what a good night's sleep is! My LO is one month old and I'm lucky if he sleeps 2 hour stretches at night. Which means I get 1 hour of sleep every time he sleeps. I'm averaging 3-4 hours of sleep a night. Walking zombie here. Plus, just 2 days ago, he started "napping" during the day. Like, 30 minutes napping. I'm almost certain he only slept a total of 2 hours during the day yesterday. It was rough. Is it a growth spurt or something? He's normally colicky :-( womp womp :-( but this not sleeping during the day was rough too.
I let LO sleep as long as she wants, usually around 3 hours (one time it was 4.5 hrs). My LC said because she is gaining weight and having plenty of wet diapers there is no need for me to wake her up to nurse.

The one time DS fell asleeP for 5 hours I slept like the dead and woke up when he did. When I realized how long he'd slept I was completely freaked out! Unfortunately it was a one time occurrence
Of course I didn't. I woke up in the middle and stared at her waiting for her to wake up....
And OUCH BOOBS! :-S
DD regularly sleeps 4-5 hour stretches at night (knock on wood). But there have been several times where I have had to wake her up to eat before my boobs exploded. Seriously, there were a couple of times where I was sure if I waited even 10 more minutes there would be milk stains on the ceiling! (
Ask your pediatrician- I forget how old DS was when she told us to stop waking him up at night. I remember her saying not to let him go more than 3 hours during the day just to make sure he was getting enough during daytime and to help straighten out his days and nights. (He was in the NICU and had his days/nights mixed up and it was MISERABLE!)
Also, once your LO start consistently sleeping longer stretches at night, take advantage of those long stretches to pump. I did that for a while to build a stash and anytime I noticed my supply would dip while I was pumping at work.
Usually LO sleeps 3-4 hours at night but last night he decided "screw that I'm going to be up every hour on the hour! ." Can't wait until this sleep through the night thing happens for him.
