How much weight have you gained so far?

Hi! I'm 22 weeks lol obviously. I've lost 3 pounds since I got pregnant. It kinda worries me a bit. My doctor didn't say anything at my last appointment though. How much weight have you guys gained? And have any of you experienced this?

Re: How much weight have you gained so far?

  • If you use the search bar there are several threads on weight gain and weight loss that might be helpful. They were around a while back and might be buried in the pages.

Personally I have only gained about 3 pounds at 20 weeks. My midwife said that as long as baby is measuring correctly at my anatomy scan she isn't worried. If baby is a little behind, they will do another scan to monitor growth.

  • When I went for my 16 week I had gsined 4 lbs. i go for my 20week Friday so I'll see then
  • I'm 21 1/2 weeks, and I've gained a pound; although, I am sporting a hard little bump. I feel healthy and strong. I guess it depends on how you feel.
  • I'm 18 weeks and have gained 7. I started out a little underweight though.

After losing 8 pounds in the 1st trimester, I am only up 2 pounds at 19+3. So, still haven't gained. I was overweight to begin with, so my midwife is not concerned. She says I should still put on 10-15 by the end.

  • I'm 22 weeks and gained 3 lbs so far. My doctor doesn't seem concerned because babies growth is normal And on track.
  • I've gained 2-3 lbs. I am a little overweight so I don't need to be gaining a lot of weight. With DD I gained most of my weight the last few weeks when my legs, feet, ankles retained a ton of water. I have my 20w appt next week, so I'll see where I am at then.

    BFP #2: 7/23/14 - MC: 8/28/14

    BFP #4: 5/20/15 - Stick baby stick!!!
  • At my 20 week appointment, I had lost a total of 14 pounds. They did our ultrasound at the same time, and baby is growing just fine, so the doctor is not worried at all. He said it can be common, because a lot of moms eat more healthily while pregnant than they do any other time. (This is the sure case for me. I'm sure cutting out soda alone accounted for a lot of that!)
  • TL;DR ask your doctor it's probably fine.
  • With my DD I had gained 15ish lbs by 20 weeks. So far this pregnancy I have only gained 6 as of 19w5d. Each pregnancy is different - if your dr's aren't worried then I wouldn't be either.

  • I've gained about 15lbs already and I'm 21 weeks
  • I've gained about 15 lbs I'm 22 weeks
  • I'm up 14 and my doctor says I should be gaining a pound a week from now on
  • 18w5d and have only gained 2-3lbs. My doctor isn't concerned yet, and I've been eating tons...I wish I could eat this much without gaining when not preg!

  • it still amazes me that people don;t gain much. Jealous. I'm 22 weeks and 2 days and I'm up 15 pounds :/
Same here!! I'm 20 weeks with twins and I've already gained 20 lbs. Doctor says I'm doing well so I'm not concerned. I work out, just as I did before pregnancy, just not as hard, but I eat when I'm hungry. Healthy for the most part.

  • I eat whenever I am hungry and haven't been shy about ice cream. But at my 20 week appointment on Monday I had lost two pounds (after only gaining 1 pound at my 16 week appt.) The doctor is not at all concerned. Baby was measured to be around 13 oz (which was higher than what the bump said for the 20w banana). I don't know why my weight doesn't reflect my round tummy and 2 cup sizes bigger boobs and baby. I say, if doctor says baby is healthy and you are healthy don't be concerned.

Also this is why searching before posting is good. One of the last posters saying she hadn't gained weight was negatively received. Every one gains what they need, but we all feel pretty self-conscious these days.
  • 20 weeks, up 24 lbs. Was eating every hour to avoid getting sick. Now I'm on a medication so hopefully it will level off!
  • I'm 19 weeks and down 11lbs..
I'm also "obese" I hate that word..
I lost weight my first pregnancy too..
But then gained it all back.. Ended up being +25 overall. As long as Dr didn't care, I didn't care.. (Personally as long as baby was happy and healthy I didn't care if the Dr cared either!!)
  • I'm probably in the +12ish range total so far. I'm 23 weeks today. I gained weight fast due to becoming hyperstimmed after my IVF transfer. Was on a high sodium and electrolyte diet for almost a month. Now I seem to be gaining 3-4 Lbs in between visits with seems average. My doctor has never brought up a concern with my weight so I'm guessing all is ok. They told me to try not to gain more than 30 lbs. I'm 4'11" so I have a feeling I'm going to be large no matter what (which I'm fine with as long as both baby and I are healthy).
  • I am 20 weeks today and I am up 7. When I asked my doctor said that he would be totally fine with seeing me gain no more than 20 total, and to not necessarily have my eye on the gauged range of 20-30lbs. He said as long as I keep feeling good and what he sees and hears at each appointment are good, aim for the lower end of weight gain.
  • I agree, comparing yourself to others is dangerous. Never mind the fact that everyone starts at a different weight, has a different metabolism, and has a unique body type. Threads like this have zero validity.

21 weeks gained about 11 pounds so far. Hoping for 25 lbs total. I was pretty much bed ridden for the first 14 weeks but now I have tons of energy so I'm hoping to use that to my benefit and start exercising. I was too weak earlier in the pregnancy to even attempt to exercise. Now I feel great.
  • me too. I swell up as soon as I am pregnant and gain weight and it's not like I am downing goodies and eating like a hug? Good news is it seems to come of real quick once the baby comes :)
  • been there each time. it does come off once you have the baby and just stay on track from there. I am stuck with the same Luke right now and am uncomfortable all the time :/
  • I'm down 15 from where I started. 19w 2d. But I'm overweight. My doc said as long as I'm not purposely losing weight and everything is measuring right then I'm fine.
  • I'm 21 weeks & haven't gained anything at all! Doc says everything is perfect, because baby just keeps growing. She also said I'd probably gain in the third trimester.
