We are naming our son Liam. which i know is common now. Hubby and I have just had it picked out since we were first together. anyway people on his side keep asking how to pronounce it and act like they have never heard the name before. They arent from another country or anything. Then we say ummm ya know its like the actor liam neason?! and then they go OHH!!!! so wierd.
If people where saying they didnt like the name I would straight up tell them they were rude. That is just a super rude thing to say to anyone. I have heard the DUMBEST names especially from my sister in laws and what they named their kids but i always just smiled and gave a fake compliment and moved on. because really...why do i care? its not my kid. which is what i would say to your inlaws. look her dead in the eye and sternly say....this is my child. I chose the name and you will respect it....period. end of discussion. if you call her anything else I will correct you everytime and shame on you for trying to make my child feel bad about their name by calling them something else.
We named our son Henry and when I told my dad over the phone he made one of those pauses that means he had nothing nice to say about it. Talk about momma bear claws coming out! Had he been in the room I probably would have clawed his eyes out. Of course I was only 24 hours pp. but honestly! If it's not your baby, keep anything but congratulations from coming out of your mouth :P
Try not to stress over it too much, my family hated the name Isla before DD was born, but I stuck with it and now they can't stop complimenting it. Everyone has an opinion and vision about how your baby and baby's life should be ;;) but just stick with what you love and once baby is here they will love her name as well. By the way, I find Telsa a very unique and adorable name. GL!!
