Thanks Ladies! Lots of names in these lists have been on our minds too
We love Josephine but are having some negative feedback from family. I know we should have kept it to ourselves but we got excited and shared.
I'm going to show DH the suggestions here and see if any stick out to him.
FWIW, some of our family members didn't like it, either. If DH didn't veto it, we would have went with it anyway
I think when it's just a matter of style difference you should ignore it. If they had valid reasonings it's worth listening to feedback but otherwise nope. H's family hated the name we picked for DS1 and now for DD . Them just not liking it isn't going to stop or change our minds
Love it... which is why we're using it! We already refer to her as Jojo. Josie Grosey did come to mind but I figure kids her age won't have the movie reference. Plus, the movie works out well in the end for her!
Thanks Ladies! It's nice to have some positive feedback! It seems like most of my peers/ other moms my age all love the choice but my older family members are curling up their noses! Must be a generational thing. Penelope is already calling the belly Jojo so I think we might have our name! I know all of our family will love her no matter what her name is and it'll grow on them eventually. We had picked out a different name for Penelope and the look on my mothers face when I told her what we were calling her ruined it for me. Then we ended up falling in love with Penelope anyways and it just suits her personality so well. I think maybe I was waiting to fall in love with another name this time too. Everyday I love the name Josephine more and more!
As a former fan of Dawson's Creek, I love Josephine and would probably shorten it to Joey
ETA: mostly because I'm not a fan of Josie. Reminds me of the movie Never Been Kissed where she was teased with "Josie Grossie"
Also...clearly I watch too much television
What bugged me in that movie though was how they pronounced Josie, like "Jōess-eee" with a long o sound and soft ss sound. I would say Josie like "Joe-zee", which doesn't rhyme with gross-y quite as well.
I think Josephine and Penelope make a great sibset!!!
Matilda nn Tilly Eleanor nn Nora or Ellie/Ella Adelaide nn Ada Vivienne nn Viv or Vivi Delilah nn Lila Evangeline nn Eva or Evie Gwendolyn nn Gwen Gwyneth nn Gwen Rosemary nn Rose Beatrice nn Bea Frances nn Franny Coraline/Coralie nn Cora Rosalind nn Rose or Rosie
I think Josephine is a fantastic name and goes very well with Penelope.
When our parents asked what our babe's name was going to be, we told them we would tell them ONLY IF they gave no negative opinions. We had already fallen in love with the name and we didn't need anyone's approval. In the end, neither set of parents said anything negative, which pleased us both. It's a classic name anyway. :P

Coraline was my husbands number one choice! With Cora as the NN. I wasn't sure about it but thought that Coralie was nice as a compromise. He shot it down though.
Caroline might end up being our middle name choice as its my husbands late grandmother name.

Ha! We had almost the exact same issue. DH loved Cordelia nn Cora. I vetoed (too rhymey with DD) . Suggested Coralie as a compromise and he shot it down.
I love the sibset Penelope and Josephine. Also suggest Rosalind/Rosaline or Rosalie.
