**The Everything Random Thread for April Mamas**

Hey ladies! Thought it was time a thread (similar to the symptoms thread) was created as a place for all of us to congregate on the everyday normal musings, rants, whatevs. Post it here!

  • I wonder how much longer people will pay attention to what Donald Trump says.

I'm hoping not very long. He makes my skin crawl. And I normally consider myself conservative. But I'm truly at a loss so far with this roster So far

  • I'm at Mohegan sun for an event this weekend and I spent about two hours in the casino yesterday. Now I'm paranoid about being exposed to all that second hand smoke. Someone please tell me one day isn't going to harm my baby! Ugh.

On a lighter note - I hit up the Godiva store 3 times yesterday and I'm about to go back for more right now.
  • My 13.5 month old toddler is struggling through a transition from two naps a day to one nap a day… I'm simultaneously excited and dreading the day when he only takes one nap... I'm really used to all that me time! But I'm also really excited will be able to leave the house for more than two hours in one outing

@ashleymarie1027 not sure how long he naps now, but when my son was taking two naps a day, they would each be 30 minutes to an hour. Sometimes longer, but sometimes super short. Once he transitioned to one nap a day, he started sleeping for two full hours pretty much every day. Occasionally he'l even sleep for 2.5-3 if he's really wiped out! So I found that I got MORE me-time, and also I could get more done in one solid chunk of time rather than two smaller chunks. Plus like you said, it's SO hard to plan outings when your kid has to nap at 9:30 and then again at 1:30 (or whenever)... versus now we can do stuff in the morning, stuck at home around 1-3 or 2-4, but then can do more stuff in the evenings. For us it was way better/easier!

  • As a second-time mom, I am so scared about the sleep deprivation. It honestly wasn't that bad with my son. Even though he didn't STTN until 9 months, he was always the type to wake up, eat, and go right back to sleep... I never had hours of pacing the halls, trying to get him to sleep like you see in the movies. I was on maternity leave and then home for the summer, so I didn't really have to do anything except take care of him, I could easily nap while he did, etc. I am so terrified about doing it again with a toddler this time. It's going to be so much harder... and so different. I'm also a little worried about bonding with the new baby... obviously I know I will, but when I had my son, it was just the two of us all day every day, snuggling and nursing. I just know it's going to be so much crazier this go round and I won't have as much time to relax and focus on the new baby.

  • I am a terrible liar!! My best friend saw my arm where I had given blood. She asked what that was for, I tried to say it was for my thyroid but a minute later I admitted I was expecting! Ugh, this is going to be a hard two more weeks!

Somebody hit my Audi with a shopping cart at the store yesterday and to replace the front panel ( if I decide to ) will cost about a grand. They didn't even leave a note , no nothing ! I'm leaving the little mark for now but every time I see it I get furious. I hope karma bites the SOB in the ass.

Edited because I'm hate typing and spelling is hard

I parked in the back.. So far in the back the cameras at the store couldn't see where I parked . Shit happens but it still sucks
Thanks for letting me vent x1000
  • Ugh how upsetting. I'm sure karma will be back around for the turd that hit and ran.

On a related note, people can't drive for $hit. I was T-boned by some 15 year old driver at the beginning of the summer, and my car was totaled (the girl made an illegal U turn and slammed into me). Thank God my DS wasn't in the car, because I think I would have ripped the girl a new one. Since then I've had like 3 near accidents in the last few weeks. Is it just because people are distracted in the summer? Not looking forward to the winter though. They're predicting an average season where I live at least.

  • Random vent: I've been told not to work out for at least my first trimester because of two previous miscarriages. Which I'm 100% OK with doing so that baby is safe. BUT, all I can eat is carbs and I can feel myself getting fatter every second. Also, my muscles just feel sad and weak. I can't wait until week 12 when I can start walking (and maybe light yoga). OK, sorry, end of rant. Thanks for virtually listening.

I feel your pain! Some asshat hit us in a parking lot after one of those cray cray storms last winter. Huuuuge dent in the front bumper. No note, no nothing.

  • @sarahufl it sucks for sure. After my son I lost 32 pounds (not counting what I lost from the pregnancy) and felt great. Then two pregnancies and subsequent late first trimester miscarriages, meant it almost all came back...so, I was already feeling gross. Ugh. Not long now!

So here's the thing... He's napping twice, for 1.5-2 hours! And still goes to bed at 7:00... However, he does get up at 6 am everyday (even on weekends). Yesterday he slept in til 6:30 (which I thought was fantastic!) then he was just wired.

Fingers crossed he naps for at least 2 hours. My 18 month old is down to one nap but it's at least 2 hours so I get a good chunk of time to myself.

I'm dreading the day he stops napping altogether. I don't know how I'll get through the day with no "me time" .

Haha ditto! Or at least sit still long enough to watch a movie or something.
  • Anybody watching the vmas? I originally wasn't going to watch bc Miley annoys me but I gave in. She hasn't been too bad yet.

I did feel really old when I saw that they started at 9. Idk how much longer I'll watch. I'll probably fall asleep soon and have to catch up tomorrow. Haha

Yup, I'm hoping that at some point I'll have two little boys, close in age, who play well together (we can all hope right?)

So aside from the fact I don't know the sex of this baby, I do know that my husband and his brother were practically angels growing up... So know I'm just worried about my genes ... Which are much less angelic

My BFF has been this way. She hasn't been to the gyno in over 10 years. I've been nagging her for years since she started wanting a baby and after years of drunk crying sessions, she is FINALLY at the gyno right now and hopefully everything is ok with her and she can get her baby but holy shit, why are people so scared of the dr?

  • Last pregnancy I stopped losing hair for the last 3 months. Then PP tons and tons of hair fell out between 3-6 month. I didn't notice how bad it was until the hair started to grow back.

It is taking forever for it to grow out. I'm scared that by the time it's long enough to fit back in a ponytail I'll be losing hair from this pregnancy and it'll be another 2 years until I don't have to deal with these baby hairs
  • Lowered immune system due to pregnancy and being an elementary teacher don't mix. Hello strep throat. I feel like death and am totally throwing myself a pity party.
  • I feel awkward since telling my parents this weekend that I'm PG, haven't told my dad yet though. They're really excited but every time they mention it, it makes me squirmy. I don't know if it's because it's no longer a secret or if it's still hard for me to believe. Also, my niece asked to touch my belly and I said no. lol she's only 8 but I told her "it's not even a fetus yet" and I think it hurt her feelings and I felt bad.

Anyone else watch So You Think You Can Dance??

  • Random rant....My brake light came on this morning and I just had them checked and the front brakes replaced. Argh! Those things are expensive, reeealllyy hoping I don't need to do something to the back brakes. I'm planning on taking it to get checked after work tonight.
  • I was at a wedding on Saturday and my Aunt and I were watching my daughter play and my aunt said "She really needs a sibling to play with" and I was like "ughhhhhh" and then she looked at my bottle of water and knew immediately ha ha. I couldn't even try to lie.

  • Because he's starting middle school, I'm taking my son to the mall and letting him pick out his own "first-day of school" outfit. I see it going one of two ways - either he's going to want a bunch of expensive stuff and I'll have to put my foot down, or he won't care and I'll have force him to choose clothes.
