Am I creating a boobman?

Crash has been cluster feeding while he sleeps.  He sleeps on my brestfriend and "wakes"  in search of my boob.  Should I discourage this.  I think he is mostly doing this to pacify himself.

Re: Am I creating a boobman?

  • I don't recall fully, but I think by 7 months, we weren't cluster feeding anymore. I was told to always discourage using the breast as a pacifier when possible, and that was when Faith was itty bitty! But I know not everyone agrees with that.

  • I think at C's age, he can be growing or even teething soon, I would let Z do it at that age...but I was pretty much an on demand feeder and cosleeper as well at that time! Boobman, yes Z was! I BF for 23 months, towards the end it was only about 1-2 sessions. But I think all boys are boobmen aren't they? ;)
  • Not sure on the cluster feeding as I didn't BF, but I just wanted to say that I don't think it really has any factor in creating a boobman.  My boy was a formula boy and he's a boobman.  He will seriously rub my boobs while we're at Target.
  • I totally have a boobgirl. She likes to run her hand over my chest as she feeds. :-)
  • Z was a "boobgirl" for a LONG time, but I weaned her eventually, and she has no fascination or weird habits. It is only about your comfort with it.
    Mama to Z - 5.5 years, G - 3.5 years, & M - 1.5 years.
  • My guy's a total boobman and I think it's adorable (and very natural).  Like MamaV2 said, it all depends on your comfort level.  If it works for you, it's great.
