PUPPPs anyone?

Anyone else experiencing PUPPPs? It's so annoying! What have you been doing to calm the itching?

Re: PUPPPs anyone?

  • Grandpas White Tar Pine soap... Smells awful but works wonderfully!

  • Just found out I have it. My doc said I could use cortisone cream and suggested taking a benodryl before bed.

  • Thankfully not this time, but I remember how awful it was with #1 :S I took baths with camomile tea and oatmeal, used spray benedryl, and cold wash cloths as in between relief. I was tormented by it 24/7 for my last 2 weeks. But after delivering DD I didn't feel itchy at all that night, and when I woke in the morning the rash had shrunk back a ton, just rough dry skin.

  • I took dandelion pills, 2 per day and it was gone in 3 days. Mine showed up on the 4th of July. Still taking dandelion pills and keeping cool! Pine tar soap works too!

Aveeno oatmeal baths /soap free body wash Tea tree oil+ lavender oil mixed in coconut oil healed and softened my skin. Suffered for 2 weeks (32-34) I'm 36 weeks now I just have marks from the scratching.
The Dr told me to take benadryl but that just put me to sleep....only to wake up in a scratching frenzy.
  • Pine tar soap didn't work for me.  I drink a glass of V-8 everyday and use aquaphor lotion.
  • I'm pretty sure this is what I've been experiencing the last 2 days. I'm 39 +2, so hoping I'm in the home stretch! I bought a recovery towel (next to the exercise balls at Target) that stays cool and have been slathering coconut oil on and then keeping the cold towel over it. My Dr told me to take benadryl and zyrtec until my appointment Monday. This is awful!
  • Sarna sensitive lotion. You can get it at cvs. Worked wonders!
  • Thanks ladies! I will have to try some of these things. My poor husband is having trouble sleeping because I'm scratching so much during the night!
  • My doc said Benadryl at night and cortisone and cool compresses during the day. It's infuriating! The cold compresses/wet rags work the best, but I can't do that at work. I'm 36 weeks 5 days.
  • How do you all deal with this during the work day? It started to really act up Friday and I was miserable. Benadryl doesn't do anything. This weekend I've been home with as little on as possible which helps, but I can't get away with that at work. Any suggestions, or should I just go on maternity leave?
  • I've been using the aveeno baby lotion with oatmeal and it's worked wonders, as well as the aveeno dry skin body wash. Ice packs and a cold wet towel helps a lot.
  • I started using medicated body lotion (the equate version of Gold Bond anti-itch). It's really good at cooling your skin so it helps with the itching pretty well. I still have to put it on two or three times a night though!
