Today's awful insult.

Re: Today's awful insult.

  • From your previous discussion: "I lost all my friends, nobody would talk to me..." but you did say that was in May at your old school.

  • You haven't really offended me. I must have miss interpreted what you had said in your second to last sentence in your original post when you said you had lost all yours and needed friends that's why you decided to post. I'm sure most here (including myself) are willing to be your friend if all this is true. I thought it was odd that you didn't mention your pregnant friend earlier. If I was in your position she would be my best friend! Maybe she is even willing to help you out with a place to stay for a bit until you can get on your feet?

I don't want to thread jack but we have only known each other for a while and I don't want to frighten her away! Baby steps haha (plus she is married and probably that would be an awkward conversation)

  • I get asked daily if I am carrying twins. Nope, just one in there! Then I get the, "Are you sure?" My doctor says my belly is where it should be so I am not worried. People are just rude. Lol

I get asked the same thing over and over by the same people! I have to tell them, "I know for a fact there's only 1!" I totally agree with you, people are just rude. I wish I could start slapping them when they say something stupid like that.
I went in today at almost 28 weeks, and I measured at 29.5 weeks.

DH said last week that he felt like he was sleeping next to a walrus.

In his defense, i have insomnia so I'm flipping around every 20 minutes (5 a.m. now and up for 2 hours), and i FEEL like a walrus. But he could have kept that opinion to himself!
  • There seem to be a lot of women here who get the "you're huge! Are you having twins?" Etc..
What are people's expectations for pregnant women now a days?! They all have to be tiny until the day they deliver or what? Clearly people don't know their head from their ass.

  • I think it also doesn't help when these celebrity women post selfies of them looking perfect the whole time. Gee, thanks.

  • Last night I went out to dinner with my my family and my parents friends. On the way out my dad's friend put his arm around me and said "I was looking at your butt and you need to think about a salad."

He thought he was being funny...
  • My friend had her daughters birthday party yesterday and her sister in law is pregnant and due February 5th and she was asking me questions and my friends MIL EXTREMELY loudly said "I didn't know you were pregnant.. I thought you were just really fat" I just kinda looked at her and said no I'm pretty pregnant.. I only have 11 weeks left.. And my friends SIL was horrified and went from white from shock to red with embarrassment.. Then when my friends MIL was leaving she screamed from the parking lot "oh now I see you.. Look at that big belly it's like a mile long!" Needless to say everybody there was in complete shock over everything she had said to me and her kids and my friend were extremely embarrassed... It's not their fault she's like that but my husband was infuriated when she was leaving and said that.. And she talked about my car the entire time because I have a buzz lightyear antenna topper and I change the plastic stuff on my rims often because they look horrid without it.. She kept saying things like "who would even drive that shitty looking car.." Or (and she said this several times) "why the fuck would you color your rims.. That just makes the car look crappy and it just makes it so you embarrass yourself"... She targeted me the entire party and it was 2 hours long... I could have killed her... I was beyond pissed the whole party and my friend kept telling her that she was being rude and my mom was there and left the party early because she got so mad..

  • I went to the dentist the other day and my hygenist was a few weeks further along than me. We just talked about all the stupid stuff people say to us. I guess just about eveyone patient gives her a hard time about doing X-rays, even though she steps out of the room AND wears a special jacket during them. I guess people just don't belive that pregnant women actually know what they're doing sometimes.
Baby number 1 on the way!

  • I went to an alcohol store with my hubby on the weekend because he wanted a couple of ciders. The cashier kept looking back and forth between me and my husband and finally said, "you're not drinking are you?!" Even after I confirmed that I was not drinking, she proceeded to stare at my belly for the rest of the transaction. I thought it was actually quite rude (as did my hubby) and I regret holding my sarcasm in. Next time I will give her a piece of my mind. Grrrrrr.

WTAF! This one is ridiculous. I'm so sorry you had to endure that!!

Everybody there was in absolute shock!!!! My friends SIL asked me different pregnancy questions because this is her first and is only a few weeks along and was curious about different things and her mom was just saying crazy things.. Her kids don't like to speak around her.. She has ABSOLUTELY no filter whatsoever.. She wasn't there for the whole party but for the time that she was there she said some crazy stuff and didn't even try to sensor it!!!
  • SO showed a picture of me (from a year ago) to his aunt. And her response? "Awww you can tell she's pregnant from those chubby cheeks!!"

...but like I said the picture was from a year ago so no lady these are just my normal cheeks :((
  • My friends boyfriend Asked me if I play sports or exercise.. I said yes why?.. "Because you're getting really fat. You should do it more."... Gee thanks! Granted he was drunk and knows I'm pregnant but gez!
  • I had the whole gamut of shitty comments from one guy today. He asked me to tell him when I am due, because someone asked him. I told him and he said "wow your huge for having 3 months left" strike 1. I told him I was going to get a lot bigger, then he asked if I was sure I wasn't having twins, strike 2. I told him those were not good things to say to a pregnant lady and he said oh well what are you supposed to say?

    WTH.

    Nothing, jerk face. SMH
  • One of the moms at school after staring at my belly during our entire conversation: "are you pregnant?"
    Me: "yes"
Her: "oh good I'm glad because it would have been weird if I asked that and you were just fat."

I replied with, "I have learned when in doubt, don't ask." Although I wanted to say something else!

The guy making my sandwich at Subway...
"No wonder you're so big!" (As I'm ordering a foot long and 3 cookies)
STFU!! Why is my belly an invitation to comment on what I'm eating? You wouldn't say it to me if I wasn't pregnant. I've never had anyone make a remark about ordering a foot long pre pregnancy.
And FYI these 3 cookies aren't for me. I was going to give one of them to my husband....lol

What is with some men!!! I was talking to a friend of mine about starting up an Ultimate Frisbee league again once the baby is here and he says... All that running will help you take the weight off for Peter (my main squeeze).

Say whaaaaaaaat!?!?! First off... I've gained all of 15 lbs. Second, for Peter!? I will have just given that man a baby that took months to cook. He's good for a while. And lastly, now is just not the time for ANYONE to be talking to me about my weight. The struggle is real, my body feels different every day!

For the record... I would have eaten all three cookies :p enjoy!!!
  • I walked into a meeting with a PhD adviser today and the first words out of his mouth were "Looks like you're gaining a lot of weight."  The man is honestly really sweet, knows I'm pregnant, and I'm sure meant it as a compliment but seriously--who comments directly on weight gain, especially in a professional setting, and does it randomly as a greeting?!?  I wasn't upset but was pretty confused as to how you can get through professional life and marriage not knowing that's a weird thing to say.

I'm actually good at taking "you look so big" or "you look so small" as compliments (first=you're obviously pregnant not fat and the baby looks healthy and second=you aren't getting fat), but saying I've gained weight is crossing a totally different line.
  • I was sitting on the floor and had to get up, I found myself stuck; so I rolled myself over on my hands and knees as my fiance looks over and says "you look just like a walrus"...-_-...
His mother said that I should stop eating so much, because I'm getting too big and won't be able to lose the weight...I'm 27 weeks and I've gained 8 pounds...8. This was all with the days of each other. Lol
  • I was talking to my SO about exercise suggestions my OB gave me for my hip and pelvic pain, I made the comment that he was crazy if he thought I was going to get my pregnant butt on the floor and back up when I can't even get out of bed on my own lol. My SO laughed at me, but his 13yo sister was like
    "you mean fat a$$ right?"
I told her no, I meant pregnant.
    She said
"that excuse can only last you until the baby is here, then you will be a fat ass"

I would rather be a little more weight than i was before and look healthy rather than look like I need to eat 130 big macs just to look healthy.
  • I thought reading the updates on this thread would make me feel better but it seriously just made me feel even more depressed! I just want to crawl into bed and stay there alone until I'm ready to have this baby!

I work in retail so I see a lot of people and it seems my male customers really don't know what to say to a pregnant lady, but I also see a lot of people I know personally here as well, who are not my customers per say. Well today I saw the boy who grew up in the house behind me. He was a few years older than me and I always had a huge crush on him. He looked at me and asked when I was due and when I said thanksgiving, his jaw dropped, he pointed, started laughing and then walked away! I wanted to crawl in a hole.

I told my hubby (but left out the childhood crush part) and he asked if I wanted him to build me a ramp to help me get into bed. :-S so helpful.

A kid at school finally asked me if I had gotten married. I told her no, and she proceeds to tell me that that means my baby will be a "b" She says she knows this because she is a "b" and people call her that. I told her that people who say things like that clearly have nothing better to do, and need to be told to mind their own business. Idgaf how traditionalists use the term bastard, but I know how my SO and I use it, and our son will not be one.

That is the saddest thing I've ever read. How old is she? It's terrible no matter age, but to call her a 'b' where she's picked up on it... My heart breaks for her.

She's around 13. I couldn't be mad at her once she explained herself. I assumed someone who was not a fan of one of her parents decided they should tell her that.

  • Ugh, I got my first one last night. We were at my MIL's 60th bday party and one of her friends (a man also in his 60s) came up to me and asked me when I was due. I said November. His response, "It looks like you could pop tomorrow!". Ummm WHAT?! When was the last time he saw a pregnant lady? Because I"m pretty sure I look pretty darn normal for nearly 30 weeks. I couldn't hold back and said "Well that doesn't feel very nice to hear." I was in a grumpy mood for the next hour.
  • I have my baby shower today and the lady that normally does my hair doesnt work on sunday. So i went to this random place and just asked for a blow out. I could tell from the moment she started that she was doing it wrong. When she finished I tOld her I didnt like it and she said "thats the best I can do with the hair you have" It took everything in me not to cry in front of her. I told her I get my hair done regularly somwhere else and it never looks like this but she was unfazed. Here's a pic of her shitty job.

I had my bangs trimmed at great clips out of desperation and she cut them about an inch too short and I was super pissed... I walked out and didn't even pay I was so pissed off... Never go somewhere you don't usually go out of desperation!!!

Yeah not doing that ever again. She actually wanted to cut some of my hair off to "get to the better part". Im finishing up doing it myself since I can do my own hair just didnt WANT to do it. Here's the difference on the right side.
  • Everyone has been pretty cool about is so far, but today a woman in her 90s finds out I'm 28 weeks and says, "Really? You look much bigger than that. Are you sure there's only one?" Up to this point everyone has said I'm all belly, which I'm cool with, because that's where the baby actually is. I guess I'm joining the thanks for making me feel like a blimp club.

Yeah I only let two people cut or even touch my hair... My husband is lucky if he gets my pony tail holder out before bed... Next time see if she can do it the day before lol
  • Kid next door asked me if I was pregnant. (His grandmother asked him to ask me because she didn't know how to ask in english, the kid is about 10). I said yes I'm having a baby. He said how old is your baby? (He misunderstood that I meant I'm having a baby not that I have a baby) so I said she isn't born yet, she will be here in November. So he said ohhh, I thought you were just getting fat from eating too much.

    ....his grandmother laughed.
