I've never felt SO dumb!

I'm currently 34 weeks, and I work in finance. Lucky me I work closely with the CEO, and lately I've been "forgetting" important things. The CEO has emailed me at least 3 times this week in question. When friends have told me about pregnancy brain, or baby brain, I brushed it off, no big deal, right??? WRONG!! I've learned yhe hard way that milk won't keep in the cup cabinet, cereal doesn't need to go in the fridge, and in order to get your clothes clean you might want to add detergent to the wash, along with tons of other things.

Have any of you ladies out there had any experience like this???

Re: I've never felt SO dumb!

  • I never believed in pregnancy brain before. I thought it was just a myth. This is my 4th pregnancy & I never had it before up until now.

  • I totally have it. I put our car keys in the freezer. Threw my glasses in a sink full of dishes and constantly cant focus enough to answer simple questions. I started fall semester so i bet my classes are going to be a bit entertaining
  • I totally have it. I'm one of those people who remembers things easily but not anymore. I've locked my keys in the car, forgot to put up groceries, forgetting to do important things. I'm guessing it's not going to get better anytime soon either.
  • I have it so bad! I'm usually the one that remembers everything and my husband is the scatter brain. Currently no one in our household has a working brain/ memory. It also doesn't help the 14month old now likes to "help put things away". I don't even know if I'm the one who misplaced an item or if the little boy did!
  • This is my first pregnancy and I've definitely had it!  Although, I will say it was much worse earlier on and has been better lately.
  • There's a lady at one of our sister stores(car dealerships) and she and I are do the same day. She constantly from the begining was blaming any error on 'pregnancy brain.' I giggled to myself because I hadn't experienced it yet and thought it was a myth....until a couple weeks ago. I feel so lost and stupid most of the time! I feel you!

  • I literally went to the grocery store last night for one thing. I walked out with a basket full of stuff I thought I needed, and forgot what I initially went in for in the first place!!! I guess it makes it a bit easier when we can laugh at ourselves
  • I had only 2 small incidents- one where I used the wrong cap on the water bottle and it fell it (filling my go to from the big bottle), and the other one is... ha I don't remember but it was dumb.
Other than that I have a hard time listening to peoples' stories. I just find that I am staring at them and I have no idea what they're saying.

  • I don't think I have it, and then I do. For instance, I conditioned my hair with body wash. Right after looking at the bottle and reading "body wash" on it. I also managed to lose my keys at work, only to find them stuck way under the passenger seat for some unknown reason. Oh, and this was after getting AAA to come unlock the car for me.
  • I put juice in my cereal one day. After milk was already in there...
  • I bought my husband Rangers Baseball tickets for his birthday. When they ca mm e in the mail, I put then in the microwave and burned them!
I called the ticket office and the guys said, "I have now heard it all!!"

Oh wow! You don't know why you put them in the microwave?
  • @jennylynn103 that is what I have had too! I haven't been forgetful or put things in the wrong place, but I do get words mixed up.

Oh I can't remember anything! I never really accepted prego brain until basic math started to seem like calculus.
But I found an article that totally makes me feel better. It explains why I can no longer form complete sentences and tried to put the clean dry clothes back into the washer...

  • Before I realized I was pregnant, I took the highway going west to work. My office is one exit up going east. I've worked there three years. I did this three days in a row. But on the flip side I didn't have any morning sickness, so I was totally fine for having ridiculous pregnancy brain from like day 1!
  • O I can't put into words the level of panic @tate62610 !
  • My husband teases me because when we are having some kind of heated discussion I can't form words. I am literally at a loss for words! I try to explain why I think he is a nuts-o and all I end up doing is stumbling over myself. "Well, Babe. Ugh. Okay. Really? babe!" LOL
  • I've had pregnancy brain since I found out at 5 weeks lol!! Now I'm 31 weeks and it just gets worse!!! I've looked for my phone and it was in my hand the whole time, I've forgotten where I live on a few occasions, one day I forgot to put on a shirt as I was leaving my house to go run an errand lol! I got so many embarrassing stories I really hope it fades quick after my LO gets here haha!
  • I blank out mid sentence. I'll be having a conversation and then POOF! What's the work I was hanging on? What was it? What was it? Become so obsessed trying to figure out what basic word I can't remember that I end up forgetting what I was even talking about.
  • I am constantly forgetting words or replacing words with the incorrect word. It is like I have pregnancy-induced aphasia.

This is happening to me too! Words that are familiar to me are gone. For work I write psychological evaluations and I've had to go to my colleagues frequently to get help finding the right word. It's kind of embarrassing.
  • @mandy903 - I just laughed so hard.... Thank you for sharing. Needed that today.

  • @SarahAnne1101 I'm glad I can put a smile on your face :) lol

I can relate. When I was pregnant with my first I was taking a shower and while washing I thought my nipples fell off. I was young and a FTM and was told to take a rag and toughen up the nips for breastfeeding. So when I looked down I thought I scrubbed the things off! Turns out I was just wearing my tan bra and didn't take it off before showering...

I thought this couldn't get any better until you added the part about the bra! LOL
  • @mandy903 I can't stop laughing. My poor sleep deprived husband is trying to take a nap but I'm sitting next to him laughing my a$$ off.
  • @tbasinski and @cmjn94 it was my dumbest moment to date! Lol! It took a minute to realize what I had done!
