TTTC Checkin - 08/24/2015

Re: TTTC Checkin - 08/24/2015

  • @adorkablepixie I don't know yet. I'm waiting for AF to start so I can make my appointment. I think they will decide based on my antral follicle count at the first u/s, but not sure. The nurse mentioned Gonal-f when I asked about costs last month, so that will probably be one of them (?). I'm really not too familiar with the injections and how many different types you take. Based on past tests, I think it will be a timed intercourse situation, but I will be asking my doctor how much more (if at all) an IUI would increase our chances and possibly push for that this time.

  • @krbjoy That is an AWESOME first beta!  :-D

@riveridgional I'm loving your positive outlook.  I definitely prefer injects to Clomid.  I had no side effects except bloating... and it didn't even hurt to do it.  The needle is really thin!  My insurance paid for my IUI's but my insurance docs say that it came to about $350 US.

  • Hi Ladies, here are my updates, I am scheduled for IUI in the morning.  Had ultrasound today and there are 4 mature follies - which makes me slightly nervous that it could be to much.  @krbjoy how many did you have to get that wonderful BFP?

Question of the Week:   What is your TV watching guilty pleasure?
@graphicgranite I am also addicted to Bachelor in Paradise and the entire Bachelor franchise.  I also love everything Bravo.  I have to watch these on my own time because my DH hates reality tv and I really can't defend the total waste of a good hour of time.

    Married: 8/29/2009
TTC- since we got married (off and on)
TTC with focus: Since July 2015
Currently had 2 rounds of failed IUIs, failed TI monitored cycle
December 2015: Starting 1st IVF cycle
    January 2016: Retrieval
March 2016: Pending Transfer (I have 3 PGS tested embryos waiting for a womb)
April 2016: BFP, the old fashioned way.

  • @babyexpress I did IVF and had a total of 10 matured, 7 fertilized, transferred 2 and the rest were not good enough to freeze. I have seen a lot of discussion about everyone's fear of multiples. I could have transferred 3 but knew that two was all I could handle at once. But also wanted to have the best chance I could. That's kind of a perk of IVF, you can have some say in it/ it's controlled. I know it doesn't help ease your fear, but the chances of getting pregnant at all for women without any issues is a miracle. I wouldn't expect all 4 of yours to take. Besides, I hear the big man upstairs never gives you more than you can handle, right? I have my fx for you!

  • @AdorkablePixie Thanks! That is so good to hear! I'm still waiting on AF to arrive (HPT is still negative). I looked back at my charts prior to any fertility meds and apparently my LP increased to 15 days after I started exercising more. So, it should start today. I've been spotting, though, and at the point I'm having a hard time deciding whether it's spotting or AF. The torture!! I'm so ready to start!

  • Hi ladies!

I've been on the Trying To Get Pregnant board for a few months now but I think I want to transfer over here.

    1. How long have you been trying to conceive?
I guess technically over a year now - had two miscarriages (August 2014 and March 2015)

    2. Diagnosis: Unexplained infertility with recurrent pregnancy loss

I forget what the other question was. But DH and I have seen the RE. My FSH and LH levels they are not concerned about at all. I had a HSG and everything good there. Did two cycles of Clomid and Ovidrel trigger shot - BFNs. Took a break for financial reasons this month and looking like it's going to be a BFN too.

My insurance covers nothing of anything under the RE umbrella. Anyone else having this issue? I thought some states mandated that infertility had to be covered now?

  • smfeuro  Welcome and I'm sorry for your losses.  I've added you to the checkin.   Some states have mandated IVF insurance but most don't.   Also if you work for a small business, they usually have exemptions from the mandate.   It's ridiculous and unfair, I know.

@Adorkablepixie I got it today and have my baseline testing tomorrow. My meds were ordered today but they didn't try to ship them until late, and it triggered a fraud alert in my credit card while we were eating dinner and my phone was in the other room. So, my credit card company decided to decline the charge for the gonal-f. The pharmacy has representatives available 24/7, so I was able to call, explain and have then rerun the charge, but not until after FedEx came for the shipments. The guy in shipping said he would handdeliver my paperwork to the concierge (fancy??) to see if anything could be done and I should get a call before they leave at 11 ET. I didn't have a call by 10:30 ET, so I called to see if anything shipped (my mom was coming to my house to accept the delivery while I was am at my appt). I was told nothing shipped. Then about 11:30ET I got an email with tracking info. So, now I just have no idea what is arriving tomorrow (I also ordered Ganirelix and Pregnyl) and if it evens matters for this treatment plan. Luckily, I have calmed down and accepted that I can't change the situation and may be stressing over nothing (I was never told the CD I was supposed to start). I am just going to explain the situation to the nurse when I arrive to see if I should even get the baseline testing done or wait until next month.

Sorry for the long rant. Let's just say tonight was full of frustration, tears, and stress. Also, I'll definitely be switching credit card companies. I've been with them for 15 years and can't believe they would decline a charge from a pharmacy for any reason other than insufficient credit (not my problem). For God's sake, they have the charges pending for 24 hours anyway!!! Ughhhh.... I'm thinking about calling tomorrow and giving them a piece of my mind!

  • @riveridgional OMG! I would have been so mad and upset! I understand that they were trying to protect you, but I'm sure you've had the charges on there before, so they should have been able to tell it wasn't an unusual purchase and push it on through! I am so sorry. I am sure it will all work out though. Chin up!

  • Hi all, We were in our 3 month clearing cycle which ended in August and we were supposed to start our first IVF round in August but then my period started while I was in Mexico, which I sort of knew would happen, so we decided to wait until Oct/Nov. August and September are extremely busy months for us, we had two vacations planned (hubby, dogs and I spent a week with my family at the lake house and then Girls trip to Mexico), we moved to a beautiful new house (went from 1300 sq ft to 2300 sq ft), and hubby started law school last week (at 40!). I am traveling for work in October so I'm thinking November unless my travel in Oct doesn't conflict with my cycle. It's bitter-sweet right now, we were very eager to start when we first met with the ER, now almost 4 months later, we sort of feel less motivated. It's not that we don't have kids, but I guess we both feel like a difference of a few more months doesn't really change anything much. I really don't want to distract from my husband's legal studies in his first year. But I don't want to wait 9 months to start so I figure if we transfer in Nov, that gets my husband through his first year and then we would have the baby before he goes back for 2L. Has anyone experienced these mixed emotions before starting?
