NBR: Hotel del Coronado

Had anyone stayed here? I just made reservations for a wedding we're going to that also happens to fall on our 5 year wedding anniversary. Neither of us have been to San Diego since we were kids, but we're excited for a weekend away w/o DD. Experiences? Things not to miss? TIA!

  • Didn't stay there but went to a wedding there. It is gorgeous! Take a little time to check out their "touristy" rooms with historical stuff in them, pretty interesting.

  • it is an amazing hotel in a gorgeous area of san diego :)  you will love everything about it.
  • We didn't stay there, but went to dinner there on our honeymoon.  It is beautiful.  Our favorite place was in La Jolla...we ate at this rooftop restaurant that overlooked the water...gorgeous!  We stayed in Pacific Beach at the Pacific Terrace Hotel and loved every minute of it.  Have a great time!

  • The Hotel Del is one of my favorite places in San Diego!  How long are you going to be in town?  I can recommend lots of things to do :)
  • I didn't stay there but went to a wedding and it was amazing! If you can get out around San Diego there are so many beautiful sites to see. I know you are going no kids but the zoo is great. DH and I went there about 3 years ago.

  • The Hotel Del is amazing! My prom was there, and afterwards we went skinny dipping in the ocean nearby. Ah, those were the days...

Have fun, and if you need any restaurant advice, page me!

Will you have a car? How long wil you be there? With DC?

  • Yeah!! I'm so excited! We're going to be there for 4 days/3 nights. It's only a five hour drive so we'll have our car. We're all about the food, so restaurant recs are always appreciated! Also, I heard you can rent?tandem?bikes, how fun!

  • Absolutely wonderful.  You will love it.  BTW the reason I choose to stay there was rumor is that it is haunted Wink I'm a total sucker for that sort of thing!!!!!

  • As far as restaurants go, my first recommendation would be The Prado in Balboa Park.  Make a reservation and request patio seating - it's the best.

If you're in the mood for Italian, go to Buon Apetito in LIttle Italy - it's a small cozy family-run restaruant with a-m-a-z-i-n-g food.

Azul in La Jolla is amazing too.  If you go at sunset it's an incredible view.

If you have time to go up to Torrey Pines for a hike, it's worth the twenty minute drive to get there!  The trails run along the coastal cliffs.

Go see the seals at La Jolla Cove too.

I love just wandering around Balboa Park.  It's really beautiful.

Biking around Coronado is fun.  If your DH likes brewhouses, Coronado Brewing Co. is good.

    Want some more??  :)

  • It is AMAZING! You are going to love it!

Me, too!  I love that stuff.

It's a really nice place.  When we stayed there, *** Cheney was also there and there were Secret Service agents everywhere and parts of the hotel were blocked off.
