Registry Item Count

Re: Registry Item Count

  • I think I have a total of 75 from both registries but I am gonna go take off clothing items. Thanks PPs for the heads up on that! Also, like PPs mentioned, we have already purchased a crib, glider, and dresser, etc.

  • 2nd baby, but I was asked to do a registry by my parents and in-laws.  I've put the big stuff we want on there so family can either pick it up or we can get a discount when we buy it.  I've put one or two books on there, one or two toys, and one or two pieces of clothing so people can see what kind of things we like.  Most of the time people ignore it though and will buy the adorable stuff in their price range.

I've worked with my parents and in-laws on moving away from a shower and into just doing an oyster roast before the baby arrives for friends and family.  No mention of registries on the invite and it's going to be more of a last Hurrah type event than a baby shower.  It's going to be a byob, but still family friendly type event.  I'm really excited about it.

  • I have 156 items on there. We already bought our crib, glider, dresser and storage bench. We don't have very many big ticket items on there (I mean more that 100.00), probably around 6. I registered for clothes, blankets and other small items to give people an option of lower priced items. I also like when I go to  a shower where they have registered for a lot of things, that way I have options. Personally, I don't think people are going to judge you for the amount of items on there. I really wanted a BOB but I didn't want to put that big of an item on there. DH and I will probably just buy that after the fact.

  • I put slightly more than what I need on my list because of having 2 showers (and honestly, I did put a few more expensive items on there because my mom invited all her friends to the shower she is throwing me and many are well off)... But I admit I'm frustrated because I know that no matter what I put on my registry, people are going to buy what they want or what they think my baby needs... Especially the shower with the ladies at my church - for the bridal shower they threw me, most went off-registry and didn't include gift receipts. I imagine I'm going to get an excessive number of clothing.

I think I've read on here that if it's a brand that Babies R Us sells they accept returns.  I also imagine your local Carters (a fairly common brand) would take back any Carter's brand gifts.  I would bet that there is also an app that you can scan a tag and it will tell you what store it was sold from.  If there's not, someone with those talents on the BMB feel free to give me credit when you're a start up millionaire from that idea.  I'd google it to see if it exists, but all I can think of is Shower Returns or Unwanted Shower Gifts as search terms and I'm too scared to google those phrases at work.

  • My fella went scanner happy also! I don't think I even touched it lol he may have scanned the entire store. Ours at Babies R us is at 121 and Target is like 15 items?

As some of the other woman have said, I like to see a big registry when I go to a shower because it gives lots of options in various price ranges for you to choose from.

  • We struggled to put 20 items on our registry with our daughter... Which seems like nothing with everyone else's registries! This time we have been asked so many times what we need for baby #2 that I managed to think of 3 things, one being newborn photos and family pitched in to get that for us (both families live away so they want to make sure they get nice pictures of the baby also!)
  • I forget how many I had registered for when pregnant with DS, but I do recall having a lot of items because I wanted to a) give people options and b) put a lot of "little things" on there in the event someone wanted to buy a thought for the baby, but had limited budget to do so.  I felt so awkward putting together a registry because it makes me feel uncomfortable knowing other people are spending money on me.  I tried to keep big items off the registry or added them after the shower so that they would qualify for the "registry completion discount".

Mine are pretty big (89/90/94).  I'm just adding everything I like (clothes, toys, everything), and I haven't really gone through to pare it down yet.  Part of the reason is because I plan on cloth diapering, so I've registered for several different kinds of diapers/liners to get a feel for what works for us before committing to a lot of any one particular style/brand.  I'm also registering for big ticket items (not because I expect or want them to be purchased for us, but because having a completion coupon and/or other registry bonuses to put toward them will be helpful).
  • I just went and looked on mine because I got nervous when you all started saying around 50 items... mine's at 181 but I put EVERYTHING I could think of on there because I'm looking forward to Babies R Us giving me the 10% back on my purchases so even if people don't buy me things off it if I end up buying them it'll help me out! Also, I registered for diapers and wipes because I am having a diaper raffle at my shower.

  • I had maybe 40 items tops w my son and even that sounds high. My best friend did my registry and I went back and edited it down to necessities for the first 6 months (stroller, crib, swing)... no toys, clothes, highchairs or things like that bc I knew I didn't need them in the beginning or, in the instance with the clothes, people would get them anyway.
  • I have 105 for Target and 48 for Babies R Us. I have a really large family. I've been instructed by my SIL ( she's throwing us the shower) to make sure we have a lot of items on the registry to give everyone options. We already purchased a lot of the big ticket items such as the crib, glider, stroller, car seat, and dresser. We do have a few items on the registries that are expensive ( swing, monitor, high chair, baby carrier, pack & play) but I figured if my family doesn't purchase the items we would still get the discount at the end.

  • 47.  But this is my 3rd baby and we don't really need much.  The only reason I made the registry is so I can get a completion discount.

  • I have 36 on mine for our first baby, but we have a small house, and also try to live a minimalist lifestyle.  I've also been buying secondhand, or new items off other ladies that got extra's from their showers in preparation.  Target also closed all their Canadian stores, so I was able to stock up on so many things for next to nothing during the clearance sales.  We don't have any clothes on ours as I work in a daycare, and the parents of the kids in my room have passed down so many beautiful outfits, toys, etc. to me that we are pretty much set for the first year or so.  Plus, people tend to pick out whatever outfit they think is cute :)
