SOs that fall asleep fast

my husband can fall asleep in like 2 minutes - I'm so jealous. I keep putting his hand on my belly so he can feel the kicks but he immediately dozes off and doesn't feel them. It's funny but how do people fall asleep that fast?! With our first baby he would wake up, rock her or feed her, and put her back down - not even remembering he had gotten up. Takes me at least a half hour or more to get to sleep.

Re: SOs that fall asleep fast

  • It's the other way around for us, i'm out in seconds. Especially if we put on a movie- ha

  • Mine is the same way. It honestly drives me nuts sometimes
  • Mine is the same way! He will get my hopes up, telling me he will
Scratch my head if I lay on him. So I do, only to get a two minute head scratch :|
  • Some nights it's just infuriating. X(
  • Lol!! I always tell my SO that I'm jealous of how fast he falls asleep! I will be in the middle of talking to him and he will just knock out and I'm always up at least another 15-30 minutes longer. So not fair!
  • Mine is like that, within a minute of watching something on TV he loves he's out. I am usually too but not quite as quickly.
  • SO naps hard and can fall asleep faster than me in the middle of the day. But at night... I am asleep before him.

  • We were in bed at 8:30 last night. :| I understand how exhausted he is but all I want to do is talk talk talk! If only I could fall asleep as fast as my husband. Lol
  • Mine is the same! And he twitches when he's falling asleep! So annoying!!
  • Yea mine wouldnt wake up even if there is a marreachee band playing in his ear. Sleep is so hard nowadays. And I will not be that FTM just giving him the side eye while i feed the baby during the night....oh no WAKE UP!! WAKE UP!! WHEN BABIES UP WE'RE BOTH GONNA BE UP. I DONT GIVE A DARN RATS CACOON. sorry preg hormones. Read too many stories on SO/DH sleeping while the women suffer silently.
  • @AudriannaMaria Lol I'm with you I have so much to talk about once he comes home from work and that's all that I want to do.
  • I'll at least try to use it to my advantage. If he's not going to remember it might as well go ask him to fetch baby for me for feedings. Saves me from having to hobble out of bed right after delivery. Maybe he won't remember if I ask for ice cream at 2am either .... Hmmm
  • Kml riiiiiight!! @Ccat1977
  • It's the opposite for us. I am always the first one out. DH asked me how do I fall asleep so fast. He said it literally takes 2 minutes and I'm doing my half snore half deep breaths thingy.
  • DH is a bastard, he can fall asleep with ease when we go to bed. He can also go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and fall asleep as soon as he hits the pillow.

@AudriannaMaria, glad your husband made it back safe from deployment! Where was he stationed?

  • I'm the one who falls asleep right away, and the boyfriend has full fledge conversations with me. He has no idea that I do it.
  • My DH wakes up early and his ball of energy until he goes to bed or falls asleep on the couch. He falls asleep fast but I sleep longer I average 7-9 hours he averages 5-7 hours because he wakes up so early even on days off. DH claims I'm solar powered because I only wake up easily with the sun.
  • My DH is the same way! The other night he asked me to look up different cribs to see which was best and he was snoring before I could even tell him about the first one! He's also one of those guys that talks in his sleep, so he frequently wakes me up in the night. It was cute when we first got married lol

  • My husband sleeps like it's going out of style. I was worried he wouldn't wake up when we had our first, but he's gotten to where he usually hears her first and gets up. It was extra nice when I was nursing all night and didn't have to get up to get her every single time. He knows it's easier for him to fall back asleep, so he will tend to her so I don't have to repeat my hours long process of falling back to sleep.
  • My DH can fall asleep just about anywhere. He even fell asleep in the pre-op room at DS's first surgery. He was sitting in what looked like the world's most uncomfortable chair and just passed out. A friend of mine said, "I don't want to sleep like a baby. They wake up every two hours crying. I want to sleep like a dad."
  • Sorry, OPSEC. He did come home not too long ago! :) Now we're just enjoying this time together before he leaves again. Wah wah wahhhh.
  • Same here... DH can fall asleep in less than a minute I swear. I usually have trouble falling asleep anyway but lately I wake up and toss and turn throughout the night and he's out cold sawing wood. Sometimes I swear his snoring is why I can't fall asleep lol :((

I don't know what that means... Does that mean he's home for a break? :-( I thought he was back for good. Got so excited for you.
  • @bostonbaby OPSEC means operational security PERSEC means personal security. OPSEC means you can't talk about when your military member is travelling or coming home because it could make them a target (for ISIS or anyone interersted). PERSEC means you shouldn't make it obvious that you are home alone and potentially become a target. We aren't supposed to ever say specific dates or times of any military movements (to include training or homecomings or anytime they come home during a deployment--if it is over a year generally they get to visit home for about 2 weeks somewhere in the middle half). Even if they are just training at home for a few days we actually have to have a meeting in person to discuss dates because we aren't supposed to say them on the phone or digitally.

Thank you so much for explaining that! So it's okay to say you've just dropped them at the airport once they're on their way and okay to say that they are home but not okay to say when they are actually traveling. Boy, it's pretty confusing to try to figure the rules out if they've never been explained... Thank you much for explaining! It would be like me using the the word backwardation and expecting more than a handful of people to understand. Lol!
  • A simple Google search would have worked as well. Not too long ago we had a scare here so it's better to be safe than sorry! :)

Exactly what @MrsBwIVF said about @TomekiaB 's explanation (and thank you again for explaining @TomekiaB ) It always helps if you speak in layman terms.

I did Google it, read a few lines and didn't understand how that would applicable. I live in the city of Boston and we have no large bases nearby therefore not a lot of active duty military families. Also have lived in Manhattan and South Beach (in the States)... Same concept.

That's why I compared it to me using the word backwardation. I don't expect everyone to understand because it's not layman terms.

Anyhow, I 100% agree with you that it is better safe than sorry! :-)
