Yeah, I have cravings, but I limit myself.
Generally, if you don't have a close family history of nut allergies you will probably be ok (I would confirm this with your doctor, though. It's a good idea to not bring nuts to a doctor's office in the future, though. You never know if someone in the office has an allergy). I've been eating peanut butter for the protein pretty often and my OB was completely fine with it.
I'm guessing they're only forbidden if there is a family history of allergies or something but I assumed if you didn't have anything like that in your family they were fair game.
When I was sick AF in the first tri my midwife recommended nuts for protein. Lord help us if I wasn't allowed to eat nuts...
I've never been told not to eat nuts while pregnant. :-/ Same as PPs was told to eat them for the protein and fat. Obviously limit the candied nuts, but plain roasted or nut butters should be fine....
Nuts are fine, and often recommended for the protein and healthy oils (careful of the sugar in Nutella though!) In fact I read a (very small) study that suggested eating nuts during pregnancy might help prevent baby from getting an allergy.
Obviously if you're allergic, or have a family history, nuts should be avoided. Otherwise, enjoy!
Nutella-filled chocolate chip cookies, om nom nom!
Nuts are a no-no? Since when and why? My doctor gave me a list of what not to eat and it didn't say nuts. I eat pb&j's, have walnuts and almonds for snacks and take nutella baths when the craving strikes! I always thought (for the non-allergy folks) nuts were a great source of protein and good fats. They can take my wine, my sushi and my Subway Italian combos but I draw the line at Nutella!
But really I just googled "nuts during pregnancy" scrolled through the first three pages and nothing came up negative about nuts (unless you already have an allergy) and all seemed to recommend nuts.

Yeah, I think I would have starved to death in 1st tri without my pb&js.
I recently bought a pie from a place I've been wanting to try for awhile. It's called Ebony and Ivory...it's a buttermilk chess pie with a Nutella swirl baked in. Yum! The crust was so flaky and now I'm trying to decipher how they made it! Baker problems.
Never heard of no nuts during pregnancy. During my first pregnancy I practically lived on peanut butter (on a waffle in the morning as my portable breakfast, and pb&j for lunch to avoid deli meat). Sidenote: DD's 15 months now and hates peanut butter! She'll eat peanut butter flavored things (peanut butter cheerios are a favorite), but she won't touch any actual peanut butter. I'm sure it's unrelated, we just all laugh that she got so sick of it in the womb :-)
I have no family history of nut allergies so I was really suprisred. My blood tests are fine and didn't indicate anything either. I think Ill stay of them just to be on the safe side it might even have to melt chocolate and use that

It's possible that avoiding nuts is what contributes to nut allergies...
There's been a lot of back and forth about what you eat during pregnancy and what you feed your baby when you start solids either triggering or reducing the risk of allergies. My lactation consultant recommended avoiding peanuts and berries and cows dairy until one and my pediatrician said to introduce those all early. I've heard about moms being advised to avoid peanuts while pregnant but I believe the science on that has swung back the other way, as PPs mentioned.
Did you ask why you should avoid them? I wonder if it was a miscommunication or related to some unique health concern you have.
Also, if you're a crazy animal lover like me, try to find either a non-Nutella brand that's Palm oil free/sustainable palm oil or the European Nutella. US Nutella kills orangutans.
I love how insane that sounds to everyone who doesn't know what im talking about.
Oooh! Also if you live in the PNW Ruby Jewel has a Nutella ice cream I've gotten in stores. It's fantastic. It's called chocolate and oregon hazelnut I think because trademarks and all but it tastes just like Nutella ice cream.
ETA: later post points out that Nutella is now made with sustainable Palm oil so eat away!
OHHHHHH Lord! I definitely just asked my husband for some chocolate chip cookies to dip in nutella! Hopefully he will be sweet and drop it off at work for me.
Nutella does use sustainable palm oil. Also, palm oil is in about half of the products in US grocery stores so you'd have to avoid a lot more than one product to make an appreciable impact on orangutan habitats by boycotting certain products.
