High-Risk Pregnancy

Hospital bed rest at 20 weeks; no measurable cervix

hello all! So I am on my second day of an indefinite stay at the hospital. After a 19 week loss in 2013, I had a cerclage put in at 14 weeks this pregnancy. Each ultrasound showed my cervix go from 4.5cm, to 2.5, to .7, until yesterday I was told I had no measurable cervix and I needed to go to the hospital.
Initial exam showed my stitch holding but still allowed my cervix to dilate a little, and some of the membranes are sticking out.
Now I'm on a bed in the labor and delivery area inclined backwards so my head is lower than my legs and just... Waiting. I guess it's possible I can be ok til little boy is viable.. As long as I don't get an infection or go into labor. Just so scared.not sure I can go through another mid term loss.
Has anyone lived through something similar? It's hard to have hope but I'm trying. I'll lay here and use a bed pan for 15 more weeks if I can just save my little boy. The boredom is definitely gonna get intense.

  • I was never on hospital bed rest, just at home, but have you been to the Keep 'em Cooking site? I read some encouraging success stories on there when my cervix first started shortening. Do they have you on vaginal progesterone? I've also heard that an organization called Sidelines will send a volunteer to visit you in the hospital, or wherever you are, if you're really bored. My husband works out of town so you're always welcome to e-mail me!

  • No experience but I hope that everything turns out well. I have you and the LO in my thoughts and prayers.

@PlainJane8350 Bless your heart!! You're the sweetest!
  • I'm going through the something I've been in the hospital a week now . I'm 24w4d. Baby Boy heart beat is strong. They're trying to keep him in as long as possible.
  • Hi guys. Not looking good for me anymore. My cervix started to open and cerclage started to tear so they had to remove it. Water bag is hanging out 4cm.. So it's just a matter of time before I lose my sweet boy. Love to all and your little ones.
  • Praying like crazy.
  • @allisongraw keeping you and your LO in my thoughts and prayers. I'm so sorry you are experiencing this, again.
