So there was a special snowflake in front of me at the pharmacy today. He couldn't understand why his prescription was costing so much after the insurance and didn't seem to get that he needed to take it up with the insurance company and not the pharmacist.

Meanwhile I'm quietly waiting, thinking about how I have to get back to work before 9, and finally (after talking about how the prescription wasn't going to be in until this afternoon . . . not even here for him to pick up right now) the pharmacist asked if he minded if she helped me quick (which I appreciated).

He got more irate and said it was rude to even ask that since he was here first and said "Why, she's not squawking or anything. Is your prescription something you desperately need? Because this one is for cymbalta."

Soooo cymbalta is an antidepressant . . . like the celexa I was indeed picking up. And have been off of for two days since I needed my doctor to authorize the refill after the prescription expired. So yeah, I do need it. And yeah, I'm in a rush because I have to be at work in 5 minutes. I'm just not rude.

Anyway, he starts storming off saying how rude it was for her to suggest him waiting a moment so she could help me, and she immediately appologized and tried to appease him but he wasn't having it and says "well I'll be back this afternoon anyway" (duh. That's why she asked if you wouldn't mind waiting a moment in the first place) but another pharmacist has already come over and helped me in under a minute before he's even done ranting.

  • This is my life @Kimbarbour08, all day every day! I don't mind people spazzing out on me so much (I'm usually just making appropriate motions and using filler words so they think I'm listening about their rant that their insurance hasn't changed blah blah blah.) I start to get all kinds of anxious though because they're taking up so much time from everyone else! I always want to stop them and ask them to think about the poor old man behind them trying to stand in line for 20 minutes while they flip out about something I can't fix. Complete lack of awareness of their surroundings.

@Jellybell119 yeah I had seen a few folks who were pharmacists or their SO was etc., and this morning's experience made me think of all of you, so I just had to share! I'll admit I sometimes can get irritated by my pharmacy for taking longer than what I think it should, but I feel like I'm a pretty patient and reasonable person compared with a lot of the people that they have to deal with. I only get frustrated when I am told something will be ready at X time and then it takes much longer. But even then, I never get irate with anyone. I know it probably isn't their fault and getting angry or rude won't help anything.
  • @kimbarbour08 I've gotten less patient with those kinds of shenanigans since becoming pregnant. I work for a company that sells and repairs agricultural semi-trailers and we finance them as well. A few weeks ago, a customer got upset with me because he said his contract was wrong. He insisted that his insurance company sent him a check for $16,500 and that he owed less than we were saying on his new trailer. I got a copy of the check from the insurance company and it was for $15,500. That's when he got upset. He was telling me, "It's insured for $19,250! I should have gotten a check for $19,250." After letting him go on for a bit, I finally said, "Dude, you're gonna have to take that up with your insurance company."

  • My wrist is a TW. I was doing some fun warm-ups with my class and must have hurt it somehow. Now it's sore.

Also, dizziness! Felt like I was going to pass out for about an hour this morning. Had to sit through 10 minutes of my first class, which I never do!

@Kimbarbour08 I work for a health insurance company and it's amazing the type/amount of appeals we get because people have no idea what their benefits are. I feel bad for the customer service department because half of their job is just telling members information that has already been provided in writing.

My TW is the whoever the insanely immature person is who has decided that replacing their car horn with a horn that literally sounds like a train is the coolest thing to do. They go around my neighborhood honking at nothing just so they can hear it.

@Jellybell119 @Kimbarbour08 THIS! This is the reason I refused to work retail as a pharmacist. Got enough of those gray hairs during my internships :)

  • My TW is my mom and my body. SO and I went to visit my DD who lives with my mom. My DD took a bath everyday when she was living with me and was always very clean. DD had black on her elbow and she was itching when we got her. She was scratching until her skin was red. I gave her a bath with my body wash since she has used it since she was born and no more itching. Also my DD's nails were filthy! So I had it out with my mom over it! My child wants to take a bath everyday and enjoys it and she needs to use the same body wash I do. It's a moisture issue. My DD was returned to my mom clean and her nails trimmed, cleaned and painted.

My body is a TW because I didn't drink enough fluids yesterday so I need way more today.
  • The people who live kitty-corner from me in another neighborhood are TWs. The guy revs his motorcycle every morning at 1:30am, decides on a weekly basis that after 10pm is the perfect time of day to use power tools in his garage (city noise ordinance says "quiet hours" start at 10pm), And he always does this during the hottest days of the year when everyone's windows are open since air conditioning isn't really a thing here yet.

Every time I look out the window to snoop on them, they are breaking several CC&R's (I'm assuming they have HOA) with parking like 6 cars on their front yard, blocking the entrance to their gated neighborhood so no one can get in or out on that intersection, and their kids are always running in and out of the semi-busy street.

  • My cat kept waking me up in the middle of the night last night.  She was somewhere in the bedroom chewing on a plastic shopping bag, and I was too lazy and tired to get up and take it away from her, so all night, it was crinkle, crinkle, crinkle.

  • My fitbit is a TW. I tried to update the tracker yesterday, on my phone and on my computer multiple times that resulted in an "unexpected error." So I called customer support and spoke with a nice gentleman. He tried to help me for 33 min before he needed to escalate me to the level 2 support. He said they would be calling me back and to leave my line open and check my email. This was at 10:30 AM yesterday, and I still haven't heard anything. I have been really good with working out this week, but with my fitbit frozen, I don't have a record of it any my weekly report is going to be wrong. I know that might sound stupid to some, but it really does help motivate me.
    I am 27, DH is 26.
We have been married since September 28, 2013.
We had our first child, Zoey, February 7, 2016.

I lost a weekend challenge because my fitbit app wouldn't sync with my tracker. It kept trying to sync, but needed a software update and it wouldn't let me cancel the sync to update so I was stuck between a rock and hard place. I was so mad!

Charter is a TW (my cable/internet provider).  I spent 45 minutes on the phone with them on Sunday, and another 30 minutes last night. It blows my mind how every time I call them the associate acts like they have no clue what I am talking about.  They're trying to charge me $40 extra a month.  Notes people, make a note about my complaint please!  :((

  • I am at my wits end with my insurance company/doctor. I have been trying to get information on the Informaseq test since week 9 and still have had no results. I have a high deductible insurance plan with an HSA and all I want to know is how much it will cost me. The insurance company refuses to tell me even an estimate. They say that my doctor needs to submit my chart for manual review to find out if it is covered but even if it is covered I will still have to pay for it in full out of my HSA. My doctor has tried sending it to them 4 times now and they keep saying that they have not received anything. Now my doctors office will not call me back about it. I don't think it is going to be covered since I am under 35 but my father was adopted and died of a hereditary genetic condition so I would feel more comfortable with the test if I can afford it. I know how much it would cost for self pay but I was told that I can not use self pay if I have insurance. It might cost over twice as much if I am not approved. It's so damn frustrating!!!

I had this same problem because I have a high deductible plan too (thank God I will be able to switch to something better during open enrollment before baby is born).

I'm going to be 35 when I deliver but still didn't want to chance getting stuck with a big bill. This is what my doctor suggested. There's something called a tetra screen. It's more old-school and not as comprehensive but a lot less expensive. If something abnormal shows on it they can order the more comprehensive test and it will be completely covered. We're doing this at my appointment on Thursday.

I had Cushing's Syndrome before I got pregnant. I ended up having Pseudo Cushings and not needing surgery. I couldnt lift very much and i had a lot of doctors appointments and testing. Which was the main reason my mom has my DD. My mom is a retired doctor.
I'm having a lot of extra medical needs during this pregnancy. Like when I was put on an insulin pump and was incoherent for 24 hours because my insulin dose was too high for me so my blood sugar had been in the 20's that whole day. They are micromanaging me. I basically can't care for her with everything going on. I have multiple doctor appointments every week and goals my doctors give me. If I don't meet those goals I get admitted to the hospital.
My daughter has ADHD and needs a lot of extra understanding and help. She goes to therapy every week. After baby she will be living with me again but it won't be soon enough.
  • @pedsishardcore - I apologize up front because this is probably going to sound rude, but if you have one child you can't care for, why are you having another one? It just seems irresponsible to me.

  • Sounds like it is somewhat pregnancy induced issues. I would hate to spend that much time away from my little guy. Mom just asked if she could take him to AZ to visit my sisters and nieces for a WHOLE WEEK in October. My mom is fantastic. Both her and my older sis are RNs my sis is a great mom and her girls love love love my son but a WEEK of no bedtime snuggles, not morning jumps in his crib. Ugh. Too long.

Cushings isn't pregnancy related. ADHD and not being able to handle the effects of that isn't pregnancy related. DM1 isn't pregnancy related but is certainly exacerbated by pregnancy. It's like my friend who found out after her daughter was delivered by emergency c-section that she has a clotting disorder, she chose not to have anymore children because it would likely kill her. She's being responsible with her health.

  • @PedsIsHardcore do you have a spouse/SO? Are you getting adequate support at home?
  • Big TW to today, in general. If I hadn't had a mc in January, I'd probably be at the hospital having a baby as today was the due date. Then, I wouldn't have met all y'all wonderful ladies here, so it's not too bad. Just trying not to dwell on it or I'll be seriously depressed.
