What to wear at hospital and come home outfit for mom after C-section delivery

Not sure what I should pack for myself to wear for hospital (when visitors come) & coming home outfit? Any suggestions? I'm having a c-section? Yoga pants & nursing top???

I actually wore the hospital nursing gown. I took pants and my own nightgown, but preferred to possibly ruin the hospital clothes vs my own. I didn't end up ruining anything, but the nursing gown was cute and roomy and did not put any pressure on my incision. This time, I am taking comfy pants and a nursing gown of my own along with a robe. I took my maternity jeans and wore them home with a maternity t shirt. I always wear the full panel pants and it was so comfy to not have anything near my incision site. Also, take your own Always overnight pads or depends. The pads they provide you with a huge and lumpy.

  • When I had my son, I stayed in the hospital gown the whole time and wore a nursing gown/robe set for the ride home, since I didn't feel like wearing the outfit I arrived in.

This time, I'm bringing a nursing gown/robe to wear when visitors come and I'll probably pack one of my cotton knit maternity dresses for going home. That way I can feel a little pulled together and not have anything over my incision.

I'd advise bringing yoga pants or sweats, nightgowns, or knit dresses if you want to look more pulled together, and I second the Always pads! I just wore the hospital pass while at the hospital, but as soon as I was home, I was over the bulk. You can always just wear a hospital gown.

Also, I'd throw a nursing sleep bra or other comfy bra in your bag of you're busty. I didn't pack a comfy bra and after 4 days I was begging for one! This time, I'm packing a couple nursing sleep bras to give the ladies some support without the underwires I usually stick to.

  • I ended up having an emergency C-section last time and I had packed yoga pants , nursing tops, and loose shirts and it worked out perfectly. I did wear a maternity shirt home.  Pack socks too - I was FREEZING after my CS.

  • My cousin and I were just discussing this. She had a c section in march and told me to bring a maternity dress for discharge in case I end up with a section myself. She said her pants hit her on her incision and the dress worked perfectly.
  • I had pajama pants that were high waisted so they didn't bother the incision and a few tanks with a robe. I forgot to pack a comfy bra, so I skipped wearing one for a couple days.

I just wore a tank and yoga pants home, since my staples were out and the incision was covered by steri-strips. Nothing exciting.
