Weirdest F*cking OB Appt EVER!!!

HOLY COW!! I am still in shock about what happened. OK, let me preface this by saying that I have obsessively peed on many a-different kind of stick and always gotten a positive pregnancy test. With the digital, it said pregnant, with the FR it gave me two lines, with the EPT, I got a plus.

I went to the dr, peed in their cup, and my OB comes in and says "Well that's weird. It came back negative". I just looked at him and told him to test it again. He did and came in and showed me the negative test. I told him all about my testing, and he said "OK, here's what we're going to do. We are going to take blood and send it to the lab. Call my office first thing in the morning, have me paged, and I will call in for the results".

I said OK, and went to get my blood drawn. While I was, he told the woman to go ahead and "spin" the blood, he would take a little off the top, and test it that way. He told me to hang out for a few minutes. I was nervously waiting in the waiting room, and he came out and said "Congratulations". Apparently with my blood it was positive, but not with my urine.

He said the tests could be off or since it was the end of the day, the tests were having a hard time detecting urine. Whatever the case, I am pregnant today and I love my baby. I have an appointment on Monday the 19th for my first official OB appointment since all of this took so freaking long!! LOL

I have heard before that the test the drs use to detect HCG aren't as sensitive as the ones we can get in the store.

Not sure if thats true or not, BUT could be the reason you were + with the blood test and not the pee test.?

The pee test they used was probably not very sensitive. You are really early, so that is probably why it didn't show up. I think that has happened to quite a few girls on here.

ok weird as it sounds......... sometimes those strips come in packs of 5 so if they have had them open for a while the chemical that reacts to the hcg will start to dissipate, which makes them super weak, it wouldn't register if a girl about to pop peed on it! HTH and dont worry! everything will be great!! p.s. you and i have our first OB appt on the same day!

Pentagirl, yay for OB appointments!! That is if I make it--I might have a heart attack by then!! I was thinking there that I had imagined the whole thing!! haha

Well, that being said with my first pregnancy when I took a HPT FRER there were 2 very dark lines, when I went to my OB and she did a pee stick test, she said it was faintly positive. I don't think the OB's use as sensitive of tests that you can get at the store. Weird, but I have heard other people on here say their Dr has said the same thing. I wouldn't worry about it!
