We let Mother Nature do most of the work for us at our wedding, but the "fun" decoration was our cake topper - the mascots to the two big state universities. University of Washington for H and Washington State University for me..we're a house divided!
Edit: autocorrect, and something that was really special to be was that the hydrangeas on all the takes were from my parents' house that my grandmother actually planted. Since all my grandparents had passed away it was a way for me to have them there.
We got married at a small winery, so our theme was mostly wine related. I just did the centerpieces myself - there's a big flower market near me, and my bouquet doubled as the bride-and-groom centerpiece. And one of my bridesmaids made the cake for me as our wedding gift!
aw yay! i love wedding things and our anniversary is in 2 days so perfect timing!
Our Centerpieces were small fishbowl-type vases with a floating candle in them
Our welcome Sign
Instead of table numbers, i did movie quotes and the escort cards had the correlating movies. this one was the main inspiration for it because i love Jack & Sally
(if you can't read cause so small, it says:
"My Dearest friend, if you don't mind, i'd like to join you by your side, where we can gaze into the stars and sit together now and forever, for it is plain as anyone can see we're simply meant to be" from Nightmare Before Christmas)
ETA: Sorry they're so small, i still am learning the ways of just attaching photos apparently LOL
Our was outside in September and the plants/flowers and greenery planted were gorgeous. However, the cake was my favorite... Topsy tervy. And yes, my husband had a Mohawk and I had pink in my hair. \m/ We are rock stars.
Here are some photos from the accents of my wedding... I kept the centerpieces simple because it was a cocktail style reception with small tables. I also includeda photo of the room because I was all about the lighting and the linens lol. There was also a surprise martini bar and they served these amazing salted caramel martinis ... I wish I can relive that day like once a month, ha.
I don't have a picture but our centerpieces were 10in round cakes. Every cake at every table was a different flavor and guests were encouraged after dinner to walk around and try a piece at every table. It was a fun way to get people mingling.
We had sort of a whimsical/rustic/earthy thing going on. Technically it was tandem bike themed but we just kind of did a lot of things that we liked and I really like how it came together. We did everything ourselves.
All of the tables had potted plants (we planted them and painted the pots), pinwheels, and mason jars full of candy in our wedding colors. Oh and my H cut those tree rounds from a dead tree near his shop.
Here's the head table decorations. My mom knitted the monsters as a surprise
I made this heart banner with scrapbook paper and twine for our head table.
We had cupcakes instead of one wedding cake, of various flavors, and they were displayed on an assortment of plates and tiered stands. Most of them were unfrosted and we had bowls of frosting and different kinds of toppings- sprinkles, oreos, candy, that kind of thing. So everyone got to make their own!
Our "guest book" was this Jenga-like game. H made all of the pieces and people signed them with Sharpies.
We also had a fingerprint poster thing (supposed to be a bike with balloons attached to it) but it didn't work out well because people took the Sharpies and started writing their names over their prints which they weren't supposed to do. I'm still really disappointed at how it turned out.
Here's some of ours. We had Mercury glass votives, gerber daisies, hydrangeas, lanterns, and purple runners. The favor boxes were filled with sugar cookies with our monogram in purple/yellow. I loved everything!
@AdventureMama We served cupcakes in different flavors, and I've never seen anyone do it before or since at a wedding, but I love the idea of letting people top their own. Your whole wedding vibe seems really fun!
Thanks guys! We had a lot of compliments about our wedding- that it was very fun and very "us." It still makes me smile thinking back to it. We tried to just have fun and not stress too much about everything being perfect. And we really didn't want something stuffy and formal that didn't feel natural to us. We played frisbee and just hung out and it was awesome.
@pbtoast: Thanks! I wish I still liked it. The artist was my friend and she did a seriously awesome job, but people took the sharpies and messed around with it. The signing the balloons wasn't terrible, but people also drew extra strings coming off the bike and it just looks horrible. I haven't framed it or hung it up because it upsets me. I wish I had thought to have a table attendant to keep that from happening but I didn't foresee it being a problem.
Oh my gosh, I totally forgot until I was just now looking at my wedding photos... We had a caricature artist come in! He gave us all the prints he did and we made copies for everyone. One day we're going to make a book out of all them, but haven't gotten around to it yet.
Center pieces were "made" along with the favors and our flowers and our program. I have more pictures but I'm too lazy to post them. I'm not adulting and asked my husband to do everything.
We didn't have a wedding, just got married at a little chapel in Mount Pleasant then took some cute pics at the Battery in Charleston. It was cute and special. Love him
@AdventureMama your wedding looks so fun! Love the different flavor cupcakes instead of a cake! Gonna take note for my hopeful one day wedding
@jaimeruns Mount Pleasant is my favorite little town ever!!! I usually go every year and just get lost in history. First tri sickness killed vacation for the summer... Hopefully we can get down there soon! I miss it so much! Especially sunsets on Shem creek :x
We were living in New Zealand and we eloped. Trying to plan a wedding and cater to my family from Australia and his from the US was killing us so we just did it with a few friends. No regrets and super low key.
We got married in Tahoe in April. Here are pictures of our cake and centerpieces. We also had a candy bar and photo booth but I could find any pics of them:/
Everyone's weddings look so lovely! We got married March 2014 in Phoenix. The best/worst/most memorable part was that we had record rain that day....after 150 days of 0 precipitation. In spite of the weather malfunctions though we had an AMAZING day, and I was so proud of all the work we had put into planning (and paying
Our theme was vintage and lace the cupcakes we had an etsy shop owner create edible vintage buttons! I realized our photographer although amazing didn't get very many photos of the reception We had lots of lace obviously, pearls, chalkboards and vintage-y items.
Wahh day late, dollar short! Anyways, we got married last June and did like a rustic chic. My colors were blues and greens, I loved how "fresh" everything looked But I'm mobile and I don't have all them pics, just a couple, and my pooch
Eta because I can't spell. Also, those were my tables without the flowers, I had white or blue hydrangeas and baby's breath on some, and peonies on others.
We got married on the beach I grew up going to with my family, no decor. The beach trail is the aisle my dad walked me down. I wore my mother's wedding dress (with a few alterations) which she hand made when she married my dad in 1981. Our 25 guests stayed in cabins on the beach, we BBQed steak and oysters, and ended the night with toasts around a bonfire on the beach. It was so simple, and so perfect for us.
We did a rustic shabby chic theme. Had the wedding at the state park which looks over Iowa Illinois and Wisconsin. It's beautiful! The reception was in a barn.
It's First Beach, out on the Olympic Peninsula on the Quileute reservation. It's about 20 minutes from Forks. We were actually out there with friends in the cabins last weekend, everyone knows Ruby and Rialto beaches so its a pretty well-kept secret!

I love it there too! Wish I could live there, so expensive though! We visit every time we go to Charleston. Hope you can get there soon too!
I didn't have a wedding either, we got married at the courthouse right outside the base. I am lazy and don't feel like getting my pictures out. Imagine this, beautiful wooden judge bench and chairs. A huge shiny plaque that said "the state of Texas", me a peach $20 dress and DH in his dress blues. To top it off, the judge that married us looked just like Santa clause. Beautiful I know. Lol.
Edit to add: we did have 1 guest, my brother and then we went and had BBQ after. Lol
I didn't have a ton of decor or a certain theme but it was simple and everything was diy. Love yellow and grey so we tried to keep everything bright and happy! I don't have too many pics on my phone but we had a scrapbook made of a bunch of engagement pictures and certain pages where people could sign and then where we could add wedding pictures so it's fun to have it all in one book! I got married in nov in az so the weather was perfect! Love the last pic of me and my dad walking down the aisle

It sounds like your wedding was really close to mine! We were in galena, il
