I'm going to a girls weekend next week that we've been planning for forever, but it's in an area being overrun with wildfires right now. The town isn't evacuated so we're still going because they won't return our deposit on the condo rental, but I'm hoping it gets a little worse that they evacuate and are forced to return our deposit because I don't want to be hacking from the air quality. And I also don't want to go to wine country and not sample..

I know exactly where you're talking about! The bay area is literally on fire right now and it's just awful huh? I don't even want to go outside because it feels like L.A. out there these days..

Chelan? I don't blame you, that sounds like bad times. And they've been rock blasting across the pass so they keep closing 90 for hours at a time.

Actually, I'm in Washington. I'm going over to southeastern washington where our wine country is.

Yep! I know people that went last weekend and still had a really good time, but I most likely can't participate in any of the planned activities, so I get to be DD. Whoopee!

Ahh nevermind, thought you meant the wine country as in Napa Valley lol.. anyways it still is very much like that down here. the air quality is horrendous and my lungs are really hating it. Here's hoping both of our states can stop catching on fire!

Once I went to a stylist that a friend recommended and when she was done I like my hair but wasn't the "wow" factor I was hoping for. I went to pay and she told me my total and I almost had a heart attack. Never again will I get my hair done without asking the cost first. I thought my husband was going to kill me.

Dude that sucks, I have had some awesome weekends in Chelan, but I've also been to Leavenworth when its smokey and hazey and I came back with a sore throat, stuffy nose, and sinuses raging for like a week. Combined with pregnancy rhinitis and sobriety, that sounds like a winner.
I think I'm just more annoyed that the one year I don't get outvoted for girls weekend location I get knocked up right after we put down the deposit and most of the town is overrun with fires!

I knew it was going to be close but I changed what I wanted a tiny bit apparently that added $20?? Not completely sure why since it used the same amount of product and same amount of time. :-? She's really nice and it's a block from my house so I can't complain too much I guess.
I rewarded myself for going to the gym by eating too much pizza last night.
I do not have the energy for work today. I'm irritable and tired and I want a coke. Keeping a smile on for my students but I just want them all to get out of my face.
I handle 0% of our finances. My husband and I make similar amount, but I don't handle any bills, savings, 529... nothing and I know nothing about it.
My excuse is that he works in finances, and I do not. I take care of other things like; I negotiate with all the contractors, deal with all the repair people and etc. I basically do all the arguing/ talking for the family, but he does 100% of the finances. I could not tell you what we have in our bank account, or even what bank our savings account is with. Because of this when I make any large purchases, I check with my husband, and I just go with his decision on whether or not we should spend that money.
My only attempt at knowing our fiance situation consists of once in awhile asking "so, are we doing ok money wise?"

You won't get any flames from me because this is exactly me. H keeps me in the loop on his own but I don't touch any of it. It's so much better for our marriage this way. I am terrible with finances.
@cantobean I thought you said "cake".. therefore I now want cake. I hope you get your Coke!
@monkeybutt80 eh not flameworthy. It makes sense that the person with the most experience and know-how takes care of finances. Why would someone who doesn't know anything about cars try to change the oil when the other person is a mechanic?

My husband and I are exactly opposite, lol. He is the only one who works, but I do the finances. If I didn't, then he would spend all the money on computer crap and we would be broke.

We are exactly opposite. My husband knows-ish how much money we have saved but I completely 100% take care of everything. I used to be a loan officer/personal banker so I have the know how so I just handle it. Not that H would be completely lost without me but he definitely prefers it this way.
I haven't had any fruit or vegetables for 2 days unless you count the marinara sauce I just had for breakfast. All of our produce was eaten or has gone bad, and I don't want to go to the store. I also let DD take a nap from 430-8 yesterday because I napped for awhile then wanted some quiet alone time.
@bookqueen Do you ever get frustrated that he doesn't handle any of it? My husband says he's fine and happy to do it ( I think what he really means is he wouldn't trust me with it), but I do wonder at times, if he gets annoyed that I am so hands off with the finances or any financial decisions (or not even show any willingness to learn about it).
I guess the reason why I started thinking about this so much is that I started analyzing my behavior as a potential role model now that I know I am having a girl. It' so different than when I had my son. I get overly worried that my girl will grow up thinking that men handle finances and women don't (or can't). It's crazy, I know; but I worry about these weird things now that I am having a girl. I am not athletic AT ALL, I am seriously so uncoordinated, I don't even know how to ride a bicycle (that and no one actually taught me how to ride one when I was a child - I just had the training wheels on my bicycle until I lost interest in riding it). And that worries me that my girl will grow up thinking that she can't do what boys can do athletically. Basically, having a girl made me think about all the stuff that I am not good at and making me worry how it will affect her. This is crazy right?
I hate people who get puppies/dogs/cats and then complain that they have to pay vet bills. Esp. people who get free animals. Hey guess what, they're not free! Also if you get a 9week old puppy that's up to date on vaccines and such, in a couple weeks that puppy will no longer be utd. That's how it works. And guess what, every appt is going to cost money. Literally makes me want to drive stakes through my eyes. Lol. Flame away. Sorry not sorry.
I planned a trip to town to the baby store, where I probably won't buy anything, just so I can have Olive Garden for lunch. Lol.
Ha, I did the same thing last week knowing there was a Cheesecake Factory down the street...and since I was with my mom I knew she'd pay! #sorrynotsorry

Lol. I have not told H either, once we are there and it happens to be around lunch time. I might suggest we eat there, he suspects nothing.

This is my first kid so I may not be the best source of advice, but your child isn't you. She'll have two role models! She'll learn how to do things from both of you, like learning how to ride a bike.. from your husband

My sister just got a puppy for free from her neighbor (lab) and she thinks because it's free it's not going to cost her anything. She always has had a huge problem thinking ahead and doesn't understand that this dog is going to cost money.

I'm really jealous of this actually. H put my in charge of keeping track of our joint account and paying all the bills because I need to learn to "be responsible with money". I HATE IT. I'm also the old woman that refuses to online bank and I hate automatic payments so I always pay with check.
We are going on a family picnic at the park tomorrow and then to the children's museum after. I went grocery shopping and bought a couple lunchables as snacks for DD tomorrow. I just sat down and ate them both. So nasty but soo good.

Ah!! I feel the same way! My husband has dual degrees in accounting and fianace and I hate dealing with money. And talking about it or planning for it. I'm hoping since he's so excited about our baby girl (after getting over the initial terror because he didn't have a sister), that they will have daddy daughter spreadsheet and finance time. Or however you learn to care about that. Though my dad is a CPA, we are very close, and it never rubbed off on me. I feel like I care about, arrange, and fix everything else (because DH is not remotely handy or pragmatic outside of finances) that it's ok that it's not my thing. Rationalization? Yes, thanks!

I think it works better when one person handles the finances. It seems that in every couple one person is more finance minded and it makes sense for that person take care of it. So if it doesn't bother you, you guys are all good! The only negative I see is that if something happened to your husband, you would be lost. Maybe he could make a document that tells you all the pertinent information in case you needed it? I handle the finances in our house and I make sure my husband knows where all our accounts are and what the log in/passwords are.
I handle all our finances since I am a bookkeeper my husband thinks I should do it - he doesn't really have any idea how much money we ever have so he always just asks if he can purchase whatever it may be. I hate doing it but he flat our refuses so someone has to do it - I just have a monthly spreadsheet I use and cross off everything that's been paid, we have some accounts set up on auto-pay ie: mortgage, car payment, eye insurance and car insurance.
My FFFC is that I took on a PT bookkeeping job on weekends to save us up some extra $$ and I hate it, it's for a construction business and the owner hasn't done anything for the entire year and uses his business debit card for ridiculous personal purchases - super annoying when you have to enter 10000000 $.99 charges for stupid cell phone games! I am almost finally caught up for the year and I am quitting once he's caught up.
Ok here is mine, I HATE when people are like I could never be team green b/c I like to plan and i'm an organized person. this is a stupid reason, you just want to know the sex of your baby. there is nothing wrong with that, but don't blame it on being a planner. I have been team green 3 times and i am a super organized person. You can still get the things that you need for the baby without knowing if it's a girl or a boy.

We are the exact opposite. Though I'm an accountant so it makes a lot of sense in our case. I will say though you may want to brush up on the basics of where and what accounts you all have if God forbid anything happens to your husband.

I'm going to disagree, I bought lots of clothes ahead of time at garage sales and on clearance racks, etc. Its harder to buy "gender neutral" clothing to begin with, but especially as baby grows! Can you get diapers and bottles and most decorations for the nursery? Sure. But not everything!
I am a hobbyist photographer, but building a portfolio in case I decide to go professional. One of my best friends just had a baby..I took her maternity pics and think they came out awesome..she got so many great comments. I was supposed to take her newborn photos too, but when trying to schedule she told me that she had already had a friend from work "who does newborn pics" take them the first weekend they were home from the hospital, because she offered and because I was on vacation at the time. I tried to act like I wasn't dissappointed and hurt but I was. She just posted a couple of the pics on ig and I TOTALLY could have done a better job. They aren't in focus, no emotion.. This is more of a snarky, bitter, jealous rant than a confession. There's my confession: I'm snarky, bitter, and jealous about this situation. I don't know why I even care. I would never tell my friend, but I will tell you all.

I kind of disagree with this as well..I said that I wasn't team green because I'm a planner, and mine had more to do with the fact that I've already planned out my nursery design for a girl or a boy. Yes, you can organize some things, but if you have a different style esthetically for each sex, I can see why someone would say that they wanted to plan. I've purchased what I could for the things I am making for the nursery and then once we find out the sex I'll be back at the fabric store getting the coordinating colors I need.

Yeah, I also kind of disagree with this. There is definitely a lot you can organize and plan without knowing the sex, but I've found that it is really hard to find a lot of gender-neutral clothing, and I also wouldn't want to have a completely gender-neutral nursery OR have to try to scramble to decorate or buy clothes after the LO is born. I also want to plan in the sense that I want to choose only one name. These are totally preferences, but for me do fit into the category of planning and organization. Not hating on people who are team green at ALL, and I completely see the value in that, but for my preferences and my personal preferences for organizing/planning, I definitely want to know the sex.
